I wish I could mourn him but…Xiylna honestly probably already forgot who he was :P

The necromancer throws up a shield to block the shockwave, but is still obliterated by it.

He pulls himself back together moments later, a drop of sweat on his face. "Fool. I work for the One of Worlds out of convenience, nothing more."

The necromancer spins on Xiylna angrily. "That's because it wasn't done right! will do it right, and it will work, and she will be back!" Shadows gather around him, and violet energy wraps around Xiylna, sending shocks of energy through her intangible form. "You don't know her. You don't know what she'd want. do."

Xiylna shrieks and pulls against the energy, searching for a way to escape it. Not finding one, she freezes, her solid black eyes staring into the necromancer’s. “We’re afraid, you know. Once you die you forget how to deal with the pain. And sometimes,” she added softly, “people would rather have the peace that comes from death than the pain that comes from trying to live in a world that is no longer theirs.”

Altair stands up, rage evident on his face. "Yeah? Well you've never faced my rage! I will destroy you so completely, you can never come back!" Altair screamed and charged at the necromancer.

"Less of a fool than I thought then." The necromancer slams a hand into the ground and chains of energy burst out of it, wrapping around the demon and dragging it into the earth

"YOU KNOW NOTHING!" The necromancer turns from the demon to face Xiylna again, shadows deepening around him until he was almost invisible "You don't know her, you only know your own experience. So STOP TRYING TO GUILT ME INTO STOPPING! It won't work. I've come too far to stop now."

“Guilt?” Xiylna blinks, surprised. “Oh! I’m sorry. I don’t want you to feel guilty. Guilty hurts, and I don’t want anyone to hurt, that’s all.” She shrugs. “Maybe you’re right, and if you are, I hope you’re able to bring her back. She’s probably very lonely right now. But…well, I’ve seen heroes die. And they don’t ever want to go back, even when they had reasons to keep living. Even when they could still fight. I just don’t want her to be sad when you bring her back. Because being sad hurts too. And I don’t think you want her to hurt.”

Shovel man grabs Altair again. "Stop! You'll only get yourself killed!"

Xiylna blinked at him sadly. “Don’t stop caring! Caring is what makes you better than him. Caring is good. Mother says caring is good. Death is sad. But sad doesn’t need to last forever! Sad can end.”

"I..." The darkness covering the necromancer fades away. "I... you're right. I don't want her to hurt. I'll have to... make sure she doesn't hurt, when I find a way to bring her back."

the demons hand bursts out of the earth. "do you pledge not to hurt this soul?"

Xiylna formed a head and nodded. “Hurting is bad. Only bad people want to make people hurt, and you aren’t a bad people. I’m glad you care about her. It would be sad to leave her dead if she didn’t want to be.”

Altair stopped struggling. "Sad... ends? Hurting bad." He looked into shovel man's eyes. "Worth living. There are things worth living for." He fell down and wept.

Xiylna is diverting combat by being a sweet child, i think. Yulli can help, if you want!

The necromancer nods slowly. "I understand." He stands up, shadows returning to his eyes, and addresses the whole group. "I'm leaving now, but I will be back. Count yourselves lucky your friend Sleeper was powerful enough to exhaust my power."

He vanishes in a flash of violet light.

Xiylna forms a mouth and gives him a big, cheerful smile as he leaves. “Good luck!”
