TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 I've spent all day trying to write an RP post. This goal has been greatly complicated by the fact that it's so sweltering hot my brain's turned to mush, I've been constantly interrupted every time I've finally managed to get my mind on the task, and every couple of minutes I get bitten by streams of fire ants and have to write through a veil of tears. Oh, and on top of that, my work looks like Ernest Hemingway's insecure younger brother got drunk and started writing about my character on a bar room napkin. It's all right. Just take a few moments to meditate on what you want to say. Envision the words as you want to see them on the page. Gather your writing utensils and keep them close. If having a snack helps you think, grab one. And above all, remember that your posts are always awesome, and we all enjoy reading them. 10

TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 (edited) I went downstairs to put a load of laundry in the machine. My mom hasn't been feeling well these last few days, and I wanted to help out. She was cooking dinner and heard me. "Is there a child down here?" Meaning: Please come give me a hand. It didn't sound urgent. "I'll be there in a second," I called, and finished with the laundry. Less than two minutes later, I went into the kitchen. "You needed me?" "I got it," she said with a heavy sigh, the sort that means You slacker. "I was doing laundry." She sighed again. "I know, I know." Well, I'm terribly sorry for wanting to be helpful in a non-sanctioned area when you gave no indication that your task for me was urgent. And she wonders why I don't jump to help with housework. Edit: And she flipped out on me and my siblings for "never helping" her when she works SO hard for all of us and she's SICK. She took her dinner into the bedroom "so she wouldn't ruin it for us." I WAS DOING LAUNDRY TO HELP YOU. MY BROTHER HAS FOUR HOURS OF HOMEWORK. IF YOU WANT HELP, STORMING ASK FOR IT. Edited August 11, 2015 by TwiLyghtSansSparkles 6

TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 (edited) What apparently went through my mom's head this morning: Hmmm, I need some things from the store, but I don't feel like going. I'm sick, after all, and I do more than enough around here. I'll have my younger daughter go. Oh, but her car has a flat that hasn't been fixed yet. I don't want her taking my car, since it's mine and I don't like just letting people use my stuff….I know! I'll have her take Twi's car! She won't mind, and it's my house, so even though she paid for that car with her own money, it's technically mine. I'll have her ask Twi's permission before she uses it, though. Even though Twi knows there's no way she can refuse, it's best to make her feel like she has agency here. I am such a good person. Edited August 11, 2015 by TwiLyghtSansSparkles 5

Listen to some J-pop/K-pop Twi, your bad day will turn to magical in seconds! 1
Elsecaller3414 she/her Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 I think I have been dreading school for at least a week now. I have had dreams where I was running from my math teacher, my biology teacher told us we were dissecting frogs AGAIN, and I had 450 pages or so of math homework. Yikes! Guess I'm not ready yet... 3
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Listen to some J-pop/K-pop Twi, your bad day will turn to magical in seconds! I'm not familiar with either...any suggestions? I spent the morning listening to Disney songs, and that helped. But yeah, she's spent all morning doing small things to remind us she's in charge. The car thing was one of the bigger ones (since my "refusal" to come when she called triggered her tantrum last night, it makes sense she'd direct it toward me). She usually let's us have the TV during lunch so we can watch our shows, but today she made sure to hog the TV all morning and afternoon so we couldn't watch what we wanted. I know that may not sound like much, but I know her well enough to know that this is all very much intentional. She's letting us know that this is HER house and we do what she wants. WoR spoilers: On the bright side, remember that scene in WoR, after Shallan kills Tyn and vows to take control of her own destiny? My mom's childish behavior gave me a similar moment. The second I can, I'm leaving and never looking back. If my parents want me to visit or even apply for a job near them, they'll have to change the way they treat me. And although I'm not entirely sure how to do it, I'm going to stop being so timid. Because if they're not going to act like adults, I will. 4

For the music, I'd suggest listening to anything that's by ponyphonic. To be specific, Air Song, Harmony Ascendant, and Lullaby for a Princess. On the last one, watch the animation. On the WoR spoilers, I'd suggest acting like Fluttershy post Putting Your Hoof Down.
Kaymyth she/her Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Argh! I have chigger bites in my belly button. Whhhyyyyyyy?! 2
Kobold King he/him Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Argh! I have chigger bites in my belly button. Whhhyyyyyyy?! Oooouch. Do you have any kind of ointment or lotion you can use to make the itching go away?
Kaymyth she/her Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Oooouch. Do you have any kind of ointment or lotion you can use to make the itching go away? I have lidocaine-laced aloe vera, which does help immensely. But I have this thing about my belly button. It still squicks me out that one of my gallbladder scars is in there, but this just a whole new level of eeuuugghhh. 2

How do you get chiggers in your belly button, anyway? 1
Kaymyth she/her Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Perfectly understandable. The mere thought squicks me out. How do you get chiggers in your belly button, anyway? They probably grabbed onto me when I was weeding on Saturday. They're super-tiny, so you don't even know they're there. And once they're on, they crawl around and look for a nice, soft spot of skin to snack on. For me, they prefer the ankles, the backs of my knees, my stomach, and, er....another place that shall not be named. They snack for a day or three, and then drop off. And that's when you start having the itchy allergic reaction. 2

Surprisingly we haven't had any issues with chiggers since we moved to Texas, but we're careful to stay out of tall grass or other places where they proliferate. Even so, I sympathize with your pain. Microscopic vermin are the grossest and and most infuriating of them all to me.
Guest Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 My daughter is turning 5 years old next month. So the good mother that I am has (humble today ) has started to think on potential gifts. Today, I went shopping with my mother and the kids, so we decided to stop by the Lego store.... My daughter, of course, was ecstatic :lol:The idea was to get her to tell us which ones she preferred For myself, I was desperately looking for the Caster Lego I used to love as a child which featured knights, swords and castle. There were nowhere to be found. Castle Lego does not exist anymore So sad
