Hyron opened their mouth, then closed it again. "Don't do that." They said, taking a couple of steps into the room. "You have to lead with that."

"Sorry", Miyako said with a lopsided grin. "What kind of training do you want?"

"What do you suggest?" Hyron said, returning a small grin, "You've seen the world, if I'm correct, so what do I need to know?"

While talking, Hyron stuck a couple of their fingers into the pouch at their wrist, creating a small vine which they had slither around her hand.

Miyako walked over to his knife and picked it up, turning back towards Yerik.

"If we give you a way to fight back. You would be a force to be reckoned with. Six weeks, if your willing to work. That sound good to you?" Miyako said standing over Yerik, holding the knife out to him.

Quest nodded, pleased, though still embarrassed about his rant. He was going to have a scholars dream decoding these runes. Imagine what he could do once he supplemented it into magic.

"So, umm, lets set up camp outside?"

"Uh," Yerik replied, clearly embarrassed. "Yeah, that sounds good."

I just about died laughing when I read your response.

Miyako didn't blush. Miyako never blushed, and therefore she couldn't be blushing right now.

Miyako flicked her eyes up up at Hyron before quickly looking at the vine. She slid her sword through the vine and into the sheath, smoothy. Very smoothly. She shook the vine off her arm and cleared her throat.

"Umm, good work Yerik." She turned back towards Hyron face bright red. "I need to rest. I'll, umm, be in my room." She quickly brushed past Hyron and out onto the deck.

Tides, what was that? Miyako gritted her teeth as she strode across the ship with purpose.

Miyako put off a strong face to the world so that it knew it couldn't hurt her. If she cared for something then she could be hurt again. So why had something gotten past her blockade? Why was something growing in her heart?

She got to the back of the ship, where Yerik said the rooms were. She threw open the first one and slammed the door, breathing hard. She walked over to the bed and collapsed, sinking into the mattress.

Tides.

It begins :)

Hyron's brow furrowed as Miyako shoved past them, and they stumbled back a couple of steps. That had been strangely bold of them to do that.

They glared at the vine, which lay lifeless on the ground. They pointed at it. "This is your fault," They said.

They then walked out of the room, leaving Yerik alone. They grabbed their pack off the deck, walked to the back of the ship, selected an empty room. They pointedly ignored the closed door. They walked into their room, spread dirt around the bed, then grew a large ball of vines and plants around themselves and the bed.

They lay there, staring at the large purple flower staring down at them. "Don't look at me like that," They said to it, "I don't know what that was." They contemplated what the hell was going on, because stalks, something was going on.

Yerik glanced between Hyron and Miyako, puzzled. "What was that all about?" he asked.

Yerik sighed. "Never mind."

This is going to be hilarious. And also sorry Xino, though I'm sure Yerik will still get plenty of screen time.

Shouts came from above the deck. Yerik blinked, putting down his book and rushing out the door. "What's going on?" he called, and found his words ripped away from his mouth by wind.

"Storm coming!" yelled Geff. "Stay below!"

Yerik, stood, stunned, watching the waves pitch around the boat. The whole world pitch around the boat. Back, and forth, and back...

Suddenly, he realized his shield was up. He dropped it in time to hear Geff shout "-hear me? Get below!"

"No," Yerik whispered, then louder. "No, I can help!"

The boat rolled fiercely in the waves preceding the coming storm.

Hyron sat up as leaves from their vine ball began to fall off, and gather on the floor. The leaves on the floor moved back and forth, and Hyron noted the ship rocking violently back and forth.

They created a sharp edged club, and slashed through their vine cocoon, jumping out of bed and out the door. They rushed onto the deck, and looked up, seeing the massive, looming, onyx black clouds. They cursed, "Stalks," and heard Yerik shout, "-can help!"

They ran up to Yerik as the wind ripped across the deck, making Hyron shiver and lean forward against it. The wind sounded... in pain. "What's going on?" They shouted.

Miyako was wallowing in self pity when she heard shouting from the main deck. She snapped up from her bed and whipped out her sword. She leapt from the bed and opened the door; having already discarding her backpack in the room's chest.

Miyako stumbled out to the deck, fighting the movement of the ship. She took in the scene of panic and mayhem, noting the dark clouds that stretched across the horizon.

She ran up to Yerik and Hyron, pushing against the wind.

"What the tides is this!" Miyako screamed through the storm.

"For tides sakes!" Geff growled. "I don't have time to babysit!"

"I can help," insisted Yerik. "I-"

"No!"

Yerik exhaled and placed his hand to the ground, pushing his power through the deck of the ship. He felt the tug of the boat on every person on it, weak beyond the point of noticeability. With a pulse of power, he strengthened it.

Abruptly, each person standing near Yerik felt their gravity shift, locking them to the deck.

Hyron looked down at the ocean.

Looked down. Because the boat had rocked so far to the side that they could see the ocean. Below them.

And Yerik was messing with their gravity. Instinctively, out of fear of the storm and of Yerik's blaspheming, Hyron grabbed the nearest thing.

Which turned out to be Miyako's wrist. Hyron didn't immediately notice because of the weird gravity and the storm.

Geff looked at Yerik, stunned.

"...Alright," he snapped. "You can stay. But your friends had better go below!"

Surprised, Miyako looked down at Hyron's hand in hers. She paused, looking at his face and then squeezed his hand once, holding on tight.

"We aren't going down. We are more capable than half your crew combined!" Miyako yelled back, waving her sword for emphasis.

Hyron opened their mouth to say something, noticing what they'd done, but when Miyako squeezed their hand, they shut their mouth and nodded once, agreeing with Miyako. They didn't feel like shouting. They had the distinct impression they'd say or do something stupid if they opened their mouth.

Geff's gaze darkened. "Very well," he spat. "But don't blame me when you get washed overboard."

With that, he rushed off, shouting instructions to the various crewmembers.

Hyron created a thick, powerful vine, which wrapped around their waist, Miyako's waist, and then wrapped itself to the railing of the ship, firmly anchoring them to the ship.

"I'm gonna be honest," Hyron shouted to Miyako, "I've always wanted to see a storm. Although, I never expected to be in the middle of one." Hyron was very aware of their hand in Miyako's.

A wave washed over the side of the ship, flooding the deck. Yerik grabbed hold of Hyron's vine, his shield splitting the water around him.

They still had a few waking hours left, so as soon as they’d finished setting up camp, Vance started examining the mansion.

The entryroom was absolutely massive, complete with an array of marble columns, shining wooden balconies, glittering chandeliers, and about five gazillion magical wards just waiting for someone to trip them. They were well-hidden, and the aura of magic they gave off was near indistinguishable from that of the rest of the mansion itself—so far he’d basically just been tossing rocks around to trip the most volatile ones and spending minutes at a time trying to detect the others.

“Lesson six,” he continued, cautiously pulling up a rug to look underneath. “This one’s a tad finnicky, so pay attention.”

Quest was squatting just outside the newly set up camp, scribbling away at his notebook.

The yard surrounding the house was the perfect clearing to camp. Glancing up from his notebook Quest was pleased with where he would be living for the next while. The clearing was filled with a tent holding supplies and personal possessions, several sleeping bags, a firepit, and log for seating. With the rays of sun shifting through the leaves and view out into the forest it was actually very picturesque.

Quest went back to writing. He was just a yard away from the house walls, trying to figure out the language the witch was using. The faint scratching of pencil and songs of birds sounded through the quiet clearing.

The runes were alien to Quest, but he was beginning to see patterns. Given time he could certainly decode the meaning.

With that thought Quest smiled and returned to his research.

Miyako looked around at the ship and saw the ship members struggling to get to ship into storm condition. They slipped around, tying ropes and checking the ship. Most were below deck or tied to the ship but, tides, this was a mess.

Miyako cut through Hyron's vine, slipping her hand out his.

She called back to Hyron and Yerik as she ran across the deck. "Cover me!" She glanced around before setting her sights on a man struggling to tie rope to the mast, hanging on for life.

Finally a challenge. Miyako smiled and leapt into action. As the ship listed to starboard, she slid across the deck, sheathing her sword. Miyako pushing off the deck, leaping towards the mast. She landing on her feet running up a angle before the ship started to swing back around. She leapt up once more and caught onto a beam of wood. She used the momentum to pull herself up to the sailor. Miyako grabbed the startled man before he could fall off and yelled at him, telling him to go down. As he protested Miyako pulled the rope away from him and began expertly tying it to the mast.

Tides, this was fun.
