Changing notifications for Status Updates

For thread post notifications you get one notification, even if multiple people posted on the thread. But for status updates, you get a seperate notification for every single response, which really clogs up noitifications. I was wondering how hard it would be to make it so that status update notifications work the same way as other posts and if it would be possible to change it in the future?

So, we can't really make adjustments to the core software as that can easily break in updated versions, but hopefully in newer versions they do fix this annoyance.
