As a Bondsmith, Dalinar has the ability to summon a perpendicularity and to directly infuse individuals or spheres with Stormlight drawn from the Spiritual Realm. It occurred to me, though, that Radiant powers require Stormlight to function. So does that mean Dalinar must already be holding some Stormlight before he can summon more? If Dalinar somehow got stuck in the middle of nowhere without any spheres or Stormlight, could he still summon a perpendicularity, or would he first have to wait to be "primed" like an old-fashioned pump in the next Highstorm?

I've been wondering what would occur if a feruchemist could tap someone elses identity mind. You likely could use their other metal mind, and if the one how filled the metal mind had accsess to other invested arts you could probably rereclaim breathes, surge infusions, etc. But would you take on the personality traits of the individual like with soul stamps? would you even begin to think you were the individual who filled the metal mind?

This is a topic that has confused me because there seem to be a lot of conflicting sources in the books. In Yumi, the father machine was made to consume the spirits, investiture entities, and it ended up consuming the souls of humanity. This would imply that souls are made of investiture, and nightblood also seems to support this as he consumes investiture but also seems to consume the soul. However, my main problem with this is cognitive shadows. Using Vasher’s explanation of how they work, he says that the investiture someone holds before the die, or in some cases if they were invested right after they die, then the investiture replaces them like a fossil. This seems to contradict everything else that is stated about souls and seems to imply that they are made of a different substance, and this is what actually goes to the beyond upon death. But if the soul is different from investiture and it’s related to the beyond, how are shards like Preservation, who themselves state they have no way of accessing the beyond, have the capability of creating beings that have souls that go to the beyond? I’m really confused and I’m sure I'm misunderstanding something, if someone has any better explanations or theories please tell me.

When Odium clashed with Mercy and Ambition, the fallout trashed the Threnody system, destroying entire planets. When Honor attacked Odium, the resulting blast wave obliterated Stormseat and created the Shattered Plains, and both Shards agreed they would destroy the whole planet if the clash continued. Clearly, when two Shards clash, cataclysmic destruction ensues in the Physical Realm.

That is, except for Vin's duel against Ati. Vin and Ati repeatedly attacked each other, even bashing so hard and so long that both Vessels died. Based on precedent elsewhere, Scadrial should have been obliterated, along with the rest of the Scadrian System. Yet Scadrial was unharmed by the confrontation (granted Scadrial was far from "fine" at the moment, but that wasn't due to the Shards clashing).

Why was this event different? Is it because Preservation's power somehow contained the fallout and prevented it from hitting the planet as part of its Intent to preserve?

So I've been doing a reread of the cosmere and I was thinking harmony is created as a balance. A push, pull net zero. And with allomancy this was a common train of thought. And so I'm curious how much this beyond sazed own thoughts influenced how the shards combined as a people's perception of the shards changes. I compare this to retribution because during the time of the stormlight archives you have the vengeance pack from the alethi a very war focused but passionate people that consumed their idealogy. They cited honor as the reason for this pack. So I'm curious if the cognitive representation of such a strong and passionate people over the years was one of the main factors that led honor and odium (passion) to combine into retribution instead of another combination especially with taravangian not having this stronger intent when he seized both shards. Thoughts?

That ability sounds a lot like hemalurgy. Brandon has said a hemalurgic spike could be used to steal surgebinding ability, and that ability comes from the Nahel bond. Wouldn't that mean that a hemalurgic spike could steal a Radiant's bond to their spren? If so, wouldn't that essentially mean that Bondsmiths have abilities equivelent to hemalurgy? For example, could a Bondsmith use his powers to steal a Misting's powers and assume them himself?

Hey, this may seem like kind of a weird question, but I know Brandon has released a number of his unpublished early works to the public in various forms. My understanding is that those are as follows, in the rough order they were written (an asterisk signifies works where I've gotten my hands on a copy myself and/or know where to find one):

	Dragonsteel Prime*

	White Sand

	Mythwalker*

	Aether of Night

	Way of Kings Prime*

Is this list correct in terms of both content and order? IE, are there any unpublished but available early works floating around that I haven't included, and is this order essentially correct? Thank you!

Imagine that somewhere in the cosmere, there is a habitable, terrestrial planet with no inhabitants at all. Let's say this planet is relatively close to one of the established systems of the Cosmere (Roshar, Scadrial, etc), but has somehow remained undiscovered by anyone in the Cosmere except the Shards.

Brandon has mentioned that the distance between planets in the Cognitive Realm is gradually increasing over time as the Cosmere's inhabitants gain a greater understanding of how far apart world's really are. In other words, it would take far longer to walk through the Cognitive Realm from Scadrial to Roshar in the Space Age of the Cosmere than it would during Vin's day.

That distance increase is tied to the perceptions of the inhabitants of the worlds themselves. Considering that, would the distance from Roshar to my hypothetical undiscovered planet expand over time as well? No one knows about it, and no one is on said planet to think about it. So would the distance between Roshar and my hypothetical planet in the CR remain unchanged until someone discovered it, or would it expand like everything else?

Cryptics can innately detect and report lies. If in the future, when Roshar actually has modern-style police (not just city watch), would it be possible to have a Lightweaver cop administer a "polygraph" test with the help of their bonded cryptic, without ever needing a machine? If so, would this Cryptic Polygraph test be harder to fool than Earthen polygraph machines? From what I understand, Earthen polygraph machines work by measuring suble changes in the subject's vital signs, and it is possible for a well-trained and disciplined person to fool the machine into thinking a lie is a truth, or for it to falsely identify a trye statement as a lie if the subject is nervous or stressed. Cryptics, however, seem to be able to detect the truthfulness of the statement directly, regardless of the subject's behavior, which would make them far more reliable. Is that true, or am I misunderstanding something?

Alright, tell me if I put this in the wrong forum spot, but since there's just one answer I think here is good. Here's the quote I'm using:

"Sixteen people, together, killed Adonalsium, ripping it apart and dividing its essence between them, becoming the first who Ascended. [They were] a diverse group, with equally diverse motives. Some wished for the power; others saw killing Adonalsium as the only good option left to them. Together they murdered a deity, and became divine themselves."

It should be in Mistborn Secret History part three, chapter two. And it's Khriss talking if that helps you find it easier.

So my English teacher is letting me write my essay on the Cosmere and I got this quote from the coppermind but it just says what chapter it's from and I don't have the Secret History that's on it's own, just the one in Arcanum Unbounded. I could just use that page but I'd rather get the page number from the book alone if any of you have it.

	Thanks!

The moment the Father Machine starts to consume everyone around you, you unsheath Nightblood. As both entities start to consume investiture around them, including yourself, your last thought is the following: Who will consume the other first?
On the other hand, say you arrived to Komashi later in the story and you had to face the Nightmares, what would happen if you attacked the Nightblood?
I'm curious to know more about the Allomantic metals and how they interact with different magic systems in the Cosmere.
Here are a few questions that I hope we can all answer together.
I've categorized the effects we know of and some questions, per magic System-Planet:

*Scadrial: Allomancy, Feruchemy and Hemalurgy. There are still some unknown variables when it comes to the use of certain metals, but I'm sure we will find out more during era 3.

*Roshar: Surgebinding,Voidbinding and Fabrials. We've primarily seen the Allomantic metals being used in fabrials.
We've also seen aluminium and the god metals heavily interact with the story. Does silver have any effect on Spren?

*Sel: AonDor, Forgery, Dakhor, Bloodsealing and Potions. Do the allomantic metals have any effect on any of these systems?
From what I remember aluminium does seem to block forgery. I'm assuming that it would also work for bloodsealing.

*Nalthis: Awakening. We know that if you were to awaken different metals, the result would vary depending on the metal, the amount of breath used and the command. Have we seen any examples of this outside of Nalthian tech in Lumar, Nightblood and Azure's blade?

*Taldain: Sandmastery. I can't remember if any allomantic metals were shown in Taldain besides aluminium.
I remember there was a WOB about Silver also affecting Sandmastery. Are there any other examples?

*Komashi: Yoki Hijo. Do the allomantic metals make an appearance?
What would happen if you were to slice a nightmare with aluminium or silver?
If you used a pulling or pushing metal on Hion, what would be effect?

*Canticle: Sunhearts. We've seen Scadrians using Scadrian technology based on the allomantic metals and we do see Nomad trying to make a spike out of a sunheart, but what other effects could we see here.
Does Aluminium/Sliver have any effect whatsoever on Sunhearts?
Could you harvest the intense heat of canticle with an unkeyed medallion or would it just melt?
What metal is the Continuity Chain made of? Is it an an awaked metal object or something else?

*Lumar: Spores. We've seen spores interact with some metals like silver, aluminium, steel and iron.
I wonder what would happen if spores interacted with other metals like Zinc, Bronze, Copper or even Brass?

*Yolen: Microkinesis: I haven't read Dragon Steel Prime yet so I'm not aware of the metals being mentioned here. But I wonder, are the Dawnshards made of a specific metal/godmetal?

*First of the Sun. I've read the Arcanum novella but not Emberdark. Have the metals made an appearance there, if so, what were the effects?

*Threnody: Shades: We're very aware of the effects of Silver on this planet. Did aluminium or any other metal have any effect on the shades/evil?

Please let me know if I missed anything or if you've spotted something.

For the specifics for fabrials I am drawing from the Cosmere RPG Stormlight Handbook which might not be totally accurate to make the game fun but is the closest approximation I know of. Under the rules text for the Attractor and Repeller fabrials it specifies that it can attract or repel a particular Essence or material. If a character has a Repeller attuned to water and an Attractor attuned to air could a character possibly walk underwater on dry land with the Attractor pulling breathable air from the surrounding water? My first concern is if a repeller would be strong enough to push away water at any substantial depth. The rules text says it pushes away the attuned material weakly. But it also says “If the repeller is heavier, it pushes the attuned material away from it at a rate of 1 foot per round [Approximately 10 seconds].” Does that mean the Repeller’s weight is directly proportional to the depth it could effectively repel the water. As well when it says push “the attuned material” does that just mean the material in the radius. Also with it only pushing 1 foot per every 10 seconds that isn’t enough to overcome gravity as gravity accelerates material towards the earth at 9.8 meters per second. Even with Roshar’s diminished size it would still overpower the repeller. But if we assume it could repel the water with enough force to create a a pocket of air, whether by strengthening the fabrial or by ignoring gravity, would the attractor be able to attract a sufficient amount if any air? We know spren and the cognitive realm work by perception so would it only be able to attract air that is perceived as air? Would it only be able to attract already breathable air or would it be able to separate the air from water? Would you also need a repeller for the carbon dioxide you exhale?

So, I was reading Stormlight, and apparently Lightweavers can't see through the other side of their illusions, which struck me as odd.

Most people discuss Lightweaving as a generation of light and sound, rather than just a manipulation of it. But if the illusions are generating light, then you would be able to see through illusions from the other side, because you could just have the light shine outward without it shining inward. You also wouldn't be able to make total darkness inside a covering, because even the darkest illusions would still generate some visible light.

What I think is actually happening is that the Lightweaving illusions are more like a false ontology of an object, one that tricks ambient light and air into interacting like there's something there even when there isn't.

So, if you're making an illusion of, say, a stick, you're not generating light that shines in the form of a stick, you're using Investiture to maintain the idea of a stick, that light and air then interact with as if it where real.

If they were generating light, then the ambient light, which would normally shine through the illusion, would have to be simultaneously manipulated around the illusion, which might make some angles appear "brighter" for no particular reason, possibly making a faint but visible halo around an illusion. The same would be even more noticeable with sound, where generated sound waves would cause the need to displace or redirect ambient sound waves in odd ways.

This even plays into the idea that Lightweavers can soulcast their illusions; they're making the illusory shape physical.

(This still works for lasers and darkness, because it's simply a less defined version of ambient light manipulation. Thinking of illusions as "fake things" is really more of a way to conceptualize it than how it actually works on a fundamental level, but the standard holds.)

	So my question is this:

Does Lightweaving generate light and sound? Or can it only manipulate ambient light and sound?

And secondarily, if they can't generate light and sound, and only manipulate it, can they then manipulate the frequency of waves, or just their direction? Light is already visually additive, so they could turn just three colors into many different hues and shades without changing wavelengths.

(And this matters, because if they can't generate light or sound, then in Era 2 Infrared cameras could see through fake Lightweavings of living things, because biological-low-band-infrared isn't common in ambient space and couldn't be manipulated, and if they can generate light and sound, than radar waves would have strange bouncing effects when being manipulated by Lightweavers)

He states, "it was a different word in their language naturally, but I shall use the translation and call the child December".

So my question is, is there already a confirmed world in the Cosmere that uses the same months/calendar that we use in English/Earth, or is it possible that Hoid has actually world hopped to Earth, that Earth itself somehow exists in the Cosmere?

I realize this might be one we won't know until Dragonsteel is written, but it's something I've been wondering about. It's been made clear that Adonalsium was shattered using the power of the Dawnshards, and those Dawnshards were wielded by the 16 people who subsequently took up the 16 Shards. It is also clear that Wit and others are desperately trying to keep the Dawnshards out of the hands of the Shards, and that the Shards don't seem to know where the Dawnshards are currently located. If the Dawnshards would be so dangerous in the hands of a Shard and the Shards apparently still want them and can use them, why don't the Shards still hold them? How does someone accidentally misplace the most powerful weapon in the Cosmere?

I have this comical image in my head of the 16 shatterers somehow dropping their Dawnshards when they took up the Shards, then someone (probably Hoid, knowing him) sneaks in and makes off with the Dawnshards while no one is looking. Five minutes later, we find a baffled group of Shards looking around the room saying "wait, guys, where's the Dawnshard?" "Weren't you carrying it?" "I don't have it!" "Where did you see it last?" "It was right here! By Me, I could've sworn I set it on this table!" "Well it ain't there now!" "It's gone??!!!" "Wow, nice job bro." I want to get into Cosmere and have been crafting a reading order for myself. Most of it has been pretty clear but I have one problem. I love to binge long series without splitting them and would like to do the same with Stormlight Archive but I'm confused about the best place to read it in relation to Mistborn era 2. The main 3 options I consider are (assuming I read Secret History instantly after Bands of Mourning):

	1. SA after whole era 2
2. SA between Band of Mourning and The Lost Metal
3. SA before era 2

I am leaning towards option 1 since it's the one recommended on this sub's chart. My main priority is avoiding spoilers since I know there exist some between both series. Secondary priority is understanding connections. Are there any pros and cons of these options you can explain without any spoilers? Big thanks in advance!

But in Rhythm of War, right before Taravangian ascends to Odium, he realizes that Szeth has killed him in the Physical Realm. That means that, at the time Taravangian takes up the power of Odium, he is also dead. So why doesn't Taravangian seem to have a problem controlling the power seeing as he was a cognitive shadow when he took up the power, just like Kelsier was?

*mistakenly answering for Sliver* A Sliver is a person who has held the power of a Shard, and then let go of it. A briefly held time, holding the infinite power of a Shard, but no longer does. So what does that do? That changes your soul, and leaves markers on it. It's a real physiological thing.

An avatar is... a Shard manifesting a semi-autonomous piece of themselves that is still connected to who they are. An avatar, for instance, of Autonomy - depending on how Autonomy creates that avatar - might know, might not know, but they are still an aspect, they are still part of Autonomy. And when you get down to it a part of them knows that, and it's almost a god roleplaying, but in a way that only a Shard, or a lowercase-g god in the Cosmere, can do.

A Splinter is a piece of a Shard that is fully autonomous, where an avatar is not. So something that is Splintered does not consider itself - and would not be considered by the definitions - an actual piece of it [the Shard], and has free will. So once it has free will, and/or could develop free will (because some of the Splinters haven't gotten there yet), but is fully cut off from the direct control and self-identity of the Shard, then it is called a Splinter.

Specifically, here, we have the definition of a Splinter given as "fully cut off from the direct control and self-identity of the Shard".

At the end of WaT, we see that Retribution would have been able to absorb all the sentient splinters that remained of Honor's Investiture in the form of the Spren (though, interestingly, this doesn't seem to apply to the Honorblades - though it's possible they would have been hit too). However, he didn't seem to be preparing to absorb the fragments of Honor that split off as Dalinar abandoned it and Odium was about to absorb it. We also know that it's possible for even lesser sources of power to prevent Shards from reabsorbing their Splinters (see the Oathpact Reforged).

Is it, perhaps, possible for a Splinter to fully resist absorption by it's parent Shard, should it come to that? Obviously I'm drawing off a small pool of evidence here, but considering the statement of it having free will and is fully cut off from the direct control of the shard, I'm not sure about the overall chances of the Splinter.

This has bothered me for awhile, but I feel like the number of beads in shadesmar, enough to make a whole ocean of them (albeit a shallow one), doesn’t make sense. Each bead represents a real item in the real world right? Looking around me right now, in my office, I could probably identify a hundred or two objects. If I were to turn them all to beads, they would probably fit in a large bowl.

I know things don’t always track one for one with the location in the physical realm vs the cognitive realm, but even accounting for that, and the fact that all the items in the physical oceans would probably appear as beads in the shadesmar oceans, it feels like there would be nowhere near enough to make a whole ocean.
I know that aluminum itself is allomantically inert, and will not be detected by burning iron or steel. But if there was a bolt sitting on the table, and then a vertical aluminum sheet was slid in the way so that it blocked the straight line between my center of mass and the bolt, would I be able to detect and push on the bolt? I know this wouldn't work if the bolt was encased in an aluminum box, but what about when aluminum just blocks the path of the metal line?

As an extension of this, how exactly do aluminum hats block emotional allomancy? Emotional allomancy isn't sent out in distinct lines like steel and iron, it's more of a wave/cloud. Since the head isn't completely encased in aluminum, one would think that some would still make it through. My first thought is that it doesn't make you completely immune, but it blocks enough from the average soother/rioter (like 95%) that they're basically ineffective. But if there was a sufficiently strong allomancer (either through savantism, spiking, or just stronger powers), they could riot/soothe hard enough that that little 5% that makes it through the unshielded portion is enough to affect someone.

So far as I can tell, both Shardplate and Shardblades are made of splinters of Honor (spren), which would mean they are probably both made out of the same metal, Honor's god metal (Tanavastium?). If that's the case, I would think both would have the same physical properties. Yet Shardplate shatters when pounded two or three times in the same spot, while Shardblades can be whacked against other Shardblades and Shardplate repeatedly for hours on end without taking even a nick (unless used against Nightblood or anti-light, of course) and never need to be reconstituted with Stormlight like Plate does. Why is that?

It could be argued that Shardblades are made of a single spren while Shardplate is a composite of multiple spren, theoretically making Shardplate more divisable. But as I understand it, each individual piece of armor in a suit of Shardplate is made up of one spren, and the books describe individual pieces of Shardplate shattering, not pieces seperating from other pieces. That would imply that each individual piece of Shardplate should be just as resilient as a Shardblade.

It could also be argued that Shardblades are constantly renewed with power from the Spiritual Realm, but we learn in WaT that living Plate is as well. Even if dead Plate is cut off from the power of the Spiritual Realm, wouldn't dead blades be the same?

So why is Shardplate less resilient and durable than Shardblades?

	Premises:

Shards can form bodies that the are deeply connected to and control. These will be referred to as “Masks”. It is possible that they can only form masks of their former bodies, or you’d have masks that look like the protagonists running around and causing general havoc.

The vessel of a shard can be killed if a mask is stabbed with Nightblood.

	Definitions and clarifications.

Shards can have avatars, who give up a measure of their autonomy in exchange for power by pledging themselves to a shard, which connects the avatar and the shard. The shard can use this connection to grant invested arts or control the avatar.

Masks are avatars with a deeper connection. Think of avatars as masks with their own thoughts and personalities that the shard occasionally chooses to puppeteer. If all matter is made out of equal parts of each Light, then possibly avatars are made of just one kind of light which gives them deeper connection. But avatars can be chosen simply by swearing allegiance to a shard.

	Question:

Would it be possible to, using an arbitrary amount of investiture and all invested arts, create a Voodoo doll of sorts with enough connection to the shard that, when stabbed with Nightblood, could kill the Shard?

	Further questions:

If Nightblood severed the connection between a mask and the shard, would the mask dissolve, die, or gain sentience?

Would this method, if technically true, be viable? A mask would theoretically have access to as much investiture as the shard chooses to give it, and is completely puppeteered by a shard. To use this method, you’d have to first create a mask. Of a shard who can see that you’re trying to kill them. See the problem?

What is actually getting multiplied when Compounding?

I looked around to see if anyone has raised the question before, and on the Compounding page on the Coppermind. As far as I can tell, Feruchemical attributes are stored as two components: the percentage of the user's attribute that has been stored, and the length of time that it was stored for. Compounding multiplies the Feruchemical attribute using Preservation's power by having the metal act as a new sort of key for the power, and it is generally assumed that the amount of power released is proportional to the amount of power that was already stored in the metalmind. The figure that has been thrown around in and out of the books is ten times, though I am sure that number varies with the strength of the allomancy the compounder has access to.

My question is, what is being multiplied by ten when burning a metalmind? Is it the percentage, or the duration? Using the typical Feruchemical example of 50% of one's strength at 1 hour, if someone compounds that, do they receive:

500% of their strength for one hour

	or

50% of their strength for ten hours

	or

some combination, like 250% of strength for five hours. I personally think this gets a little too complex and is not likely to be the answer, though I could be wrong.

In any of these cases the user modifies it from there based on their needs, just like all Feruchemy. However, 50% of strength for ten hours does not equal 500% of strength for one hour, due to compression of investiture. If the percentage was being multiplied, losses to compression would not be as big of an issue, and the only limit would be the amount of metal one had access to and could burn, rather than the availability of metals and loss of investiture to compression. I personally think that the duration multiplies rather than the percentage.

What do you all think? Am I overthinking this?

What are the feruchemical properties of god metals (lerasium speificaly)? I've been trying to find theories on this while reading The Lost Metal and as far as I know it hasn't been revealed yet (the wiki lists most god metals as unknown). Considering how strong it's allomantic and hemalurgic abilites seem to be it would be interesitng to see what a lerasium metalmind could do. I'm guessing that there has already been some discusion on this topic.

A detail I've noticed while reading old wobs about Hoid is that Brandon never seems to confirm that he has acctually used the lerasium bead that he gets in Secret History, only that he aquired it and that he has allomancy. In one of the letters from The Stormlight Archive he also says that "the element is safe", which I believe Brandon has confirmed to be the lerasium. Maybe it's possible that he uses the bead as a metalmind instead of burning it?

Living Shardblades can be summoned in any shape (so long as it's made of metal). In Sunlit Man it is further revealed that a Shardblade can be summoned as a multi-piece object so long as all of the pieces are touching (eg. Nomad's Hook-and-Chain, clock, and car jack), and that Blades can be summoned in forms as large as a giant dome big enough to shelter over a hundred people so long as enough light is provided to sustain it. So wouldn't it be possible for a Radiant who hasn't yet earned their real suit of Shardplate summon their Blade in the form of a suit of Plate? If so, that would be awesome, because Shardblades don't shatter like Plate does, so the Radiant would literally be indestructable with the exception of the eyeslit. Such an application would be especially useful for a Radiant bonded to 2+ Spren like Shallan is, since they could summon one as a Blade and one as an invincible suit of Plate!!!! They'd be even more boss than usual! Haha!

We know that Rayseium doesn't just suck out investiture. It conducts investiture from one end to another. So what if a human was on the other end? Would it forcefully invest a Radiant or a misting? What if the person were just a normal human without any powers or invested arts?

We know that Wind and Truth took place after Mistborn era 1, as it is referenced by Hoid when discussing Shards. We also know that Wind and Truth happens almost directly before Shadows of Self. Mistborn Era 1 has been mentioned to be hundreds of years before era 2, so based on that knowledge, how was Demoux able to be in Wind and Truth? My personal theory is Hemalurgy, but I would like some clearer answers.

I know they’re not mentally on Braize (presumably it’s somewhere on pre-cataclysm Ashyn, according to Kalak), but it seems this is just a workaround and their spirits still have to go to Braize to protect them. On a separate note, do we know/think we know what happened to the Nightwatcher? Presumably she either left Roshar with Cultivation or got obliterated by Retribution (unless she was somehow able to hide)?

Let’s say the Mistborn’s still alive afterwards. (It’s a partial organ donation and someone’s used Regrowth to help the two stomach pieces heal and grow back the missing parts).

If I swallowed some metals, would I have any ability to convert that into Investiture? Would they be able to? Or does it just turn into a no-using-Investiture situation?

Actually, is there any way for a Mistborn to burn metals if their stomach’s outside of their body? (Say, it’s hooked up to a machine that keeps the cells alive.)

Just remembered a few WOBs and the whole idea of 'Feruchemical Savants'.

It's meant to be very difficult for a normal Feruchemist to become a Savant, unlike an Allomancer, because they can't steep in their own power as much. But if they had a way to Compound or tap into Metalminds that someone else fills, then they would be able to.

Who does this exact thing? Most people in Southern Scadrial. They survived the Ice Death through using Feruchemical Medallions that certain people, known as Firemothers and Firefathers, who spent their lives storing away their body warmth for others to use.

So, would most Southern Scadrians be Feruchemical Brass Savants?

If they are, could this form of Savantism, where it's implied that a Feruchemical Savant becomes dependent on the extra supply of attribute from the metalmind like Miles with the extra health, make their problems with their low body temperature even worse?

From what I understand, every shard makes at least one perpendicularity at a place where their power pools. Almost without exception, these places of power condensation manifest as glowing pools of power. But Ruin's perpendiculatiry at the Pits of Hathsin is different. Instead of appearing as a glowing pool, Ruin's power trickles through specialized crystals that grow geodes filled with Ruin's god metal. Why does Ruin's power coalesce differently from all of the other shards?

Also, come to think of it, I'd expect the power of the shard that embodies entropy to seep out of the Pits in the form of a gas or a plasma, the most disorderly forms of matter, but instead it seems to be the only one of all the shards to coalesce in the form of a solid, the most ordered form of matter? Perhaps one could argue that it's due to Preservation's influence since he locked Ruin away, but it doesn't seem like the various shards are usually capable of manipulating the power of the others (with the possible exception of Odium corrupting spren via the Unmade, I suppose), so I doubt that explanation is valid. What makes Ruin's power manifest as a solid metal instead of a gas?

Is Elantris near Devotion's Perpendicularity because it was important for the city to be built in the same region as it?

Like, if Elantris was built somewhere else, or if the Perpendicularity was placed somewhere else, could Elantris exist without it?

I know it probably doesn't make much sense, but AonDor is so far, by far the most powerful Selish Art, any practitioner literally becomes immortal the second they get it so long as they stay relatively close to the city. But does anyone think that the Perpendicularity plays some kind of role in how the city functions?

Another thought that just hit me, if there were islands that floated in the air (like the cities on Ashyn) how would they be represented on Shadesmar?

Would they still be flat on the ground like everything else? Would they be inverted so instead of a high flying island you have a deep liquid abyssal trench?

What would happen if there was a Perpendicularity off of the ground? Would that balance things out between the Realms? Make it nearly inaccessible since you'd need to swim from down below in Shadesmar?

	Any ideas?

Is this really Sand Mastery? Couldn't the lichen be used to manipulate any sufficiently small substance? Could you be Spore Master if you brought it to Lumar (assuming you found a way to keep it Invested)?
