You successfully shoot right at the thing's forehead and it reveals a small metal ball, maybe made of silver or another very bright gray metal, with a lot of engravings. Despite the power of you plasma gun, it seems undamaged and it quickly grows over again.
By this point, however, it's reached you and tackles you to the ground and clasps it's cold, wet hands around your neck.

Just now, Random Bystander said:

"Is it working?" She whispered.

"DOES IT LOOK LIKE IT'S WORKING?" Tomrin tried to keep shooting at the thing.

"GRAB THE BALL THING. HERE--" Tomrin shot the head again.

The thing grabs his gun an tosses it to the side and begins to squeeze down on your throat.

Woden points the... thing on his arm at the creature.

"You are fire!" he says.

Moss ash flutters to the ground.

Just now, Random Bystander said:

She grabbed and yanked the ball thing.

The thing turns it's head as a trail of moss is burnt off and regrows. It turns it's head towards you and lets go of Tomrin, standing before it flattens into the moss carpet... and reappears right behind Woden, not giving any time for Mallory to grab the sphere.

Tomrin hacked and coughed, clawing at his throat.

Woden turns and pushes against the ice-covered moss behind him. "Shattered glass," he whispers.

The green menace shatters into a hundred rock-hard pieces of frozen lichen, and the silver sphere falls to the ground... right back onto the moss, where the moss grows back over and up back into it's original figure, backing up and way from Woden, looking around the room.

"Hey!" cried Woden. "Fire!"

"Yes, I'm made of fire." Isati rubbed her forehead until she glanced up and saw the moss thing.

She considered for a moment. Could she help? Would it work? She rolled her eyes and reached forward to hug - yes, hug - the moss thing.

Oops somehow missed this post and thought you were still contemplating what to do. Sorry.

The moss making up it's body at first yellows before bursting into flames, quickly enveloping it and it disintegrates into ash. Fortunately, your arms are just in a barely tight enough circle to catch the ball before it hits the ground again and reforms.

Mallory went over, and took the ball. "We need to find a zip-lock bag, or a cardboard box, or maybe a safe to put this thing in."
