Kaladin, Knight Radiant (Alexander Hamilton)

I wrote the first verse for a song/rap based around the opening song from Hamilton, Alexander Hamilton. I might come back and write some more verses. Let me know if you have any suggestions for improving this verse or what to do with the other verses! (I originally had the line corresponding to "What's your name, man?" as "What's your name, gon?" But it didn't rhyme with "Kaladin, Knight Radiant" or with "what little strength I haven't spent," so I decided to switch it for something that fit better, even though it was fun.) I'm not totally happy with the "Keep them safe," at the end, it doesn't sound quite right, but it's the best I could come up with in the middle of the night. Which is, of course, when it came to me to write this thing.

Spoiler

How does a darkeyed, bridgeman, son of a surgeon

With depression, dropped in the middle of a forsaken spot

In the Shattered Plains, by Amaram enslaved, left

impotent, go on to be a hero and a Radiant?

A Windrunner, this fighter’s load ain’t gettin’ lighter

Got a lot farther by working a lot harder,

And being a fearless charger,

Never fallin’ to the archers.

For months, he kept on running, thinkin’ he’d die like a martyr

And while kings were being slaughtered by the Assassin in White

Across the plains, he struggled and kept his guard up

Inside, he was wishing all the pain and darkness would stop

The brother was ready to jump, to end it forever.

Then an Honorspren came, with an invitation to stay

Our man saw a glimmer of hope, turning night to day

With Stormlight like the old Knights, started fighting in a new way

Swore an oath in the frey, a storming brilliant display.

Well, the word got around, they said, here comes a Desolation

Started speaking the Ideals, like Journey before Destination.

Honor may be dead, but I’ll see what I can do.

All of Roshar’s gonna know about you.

When you gonna relent?

I’m Kaladin, Knight Radiant

That’s right, I’m Kaladin, Knight Radiant

And with what little strength I haven't spent

I’ll keep them safe, keep them safe.

EDIT: This should be in Sanderson Fan Works, sorry. Not sure if there's a way to move it. I also tweaked a few words to make some stuff sound better, and correct a couple typos.

(Also, @Cheyenne Sedai and @voidlightx created a completed version, which is pretty amazing! Click here to check it out.)

I've been thinking about this a while, and I want to try my hand at completing the lyrics. Is that all right @Lindel

Yeah for sure! Sorry, I've been real busy with midterms and haven't been checking in here but yeah, I'm excited to see what you come up with!
