As you all sit down into the machines and the android plugs himself in, the human, with an emotionless face, flips a switch, and nearly immediately, the world goes pitch black.
When the world returns, it takes a moment for your sight to return, but even before then you can feel the warm, rough feeling of asphalt. You're laying prone on the ground, and as you open your eyes you can see in front of you a great city of metal sprawling out.
But as you look closer, something is wrong. The city is in ruins- tall buildings seem to have their tops falling off, and you can see many have collapsed, piles of rubble just sitting between the other buildings.
Despite this city seeming old and ancient, you can't see a single living thing in sight. No plants, no animals, nothing...

Kelly wrinkles her brows and peers around, using tin using her enhanced senses to analyze the situation.

“Well,” Guen said, laughing dryly “at least it’s not a sea of infinite pain. But... what is it?”

"It's a city," Cork says plainly.

Spoiler

Hey @Ookla the Goob, do we know each other's name's, and how familiar are we with each other?

You know each other's names, but you don't really know each other.

Nothing, except you notice, far off, on top of a building, a small moving black dot. Zooming in, you can clearly see the head of... something. It seems twisted and warped and even blurry, despite the fact that the building around it is crystal clear to your eyes.

"Excellent!" says Vaavu. Looking around, he remarks "Yes, yes- this seems very well made- I can't see any visual errors, even subtle ones that can get overlooked." He finds a loose corner of the road and slams his robotic foot down on it, breaking it off and kicking up a small cloud of dust.

"You, sniper- Melvin, your name was?" He picks up the piece of road and hands it to him. "Use your eyes, rub off some of the road and tell me how small the smallest particles that come off are."

"Later. There's something over there." Melvin points at the building, unslinging his sniper and pointing at its head.

Cork grabs a rifle that while built for long range shooting isn't a sniper. He prepares to fire.

Spoiler

Sorry @Ookla the Goob I have another question, are the weapons supplied by the activist group and if so, how much time has Cork had to tinker with them.

The head disappears behind the dead greenhouse on top of the building.
"What did you see?" asks Vaavu.

“Let’s hope it’s one of the people we’re trying save, and not one of their captors.” Guen begins cautiously making his way toward the city, trying to be stealthy, though he isn’t very good at it.

Cork throws caution to the dirt and shoots it repeatedly, he then charges after the thing hooting like a maniac.

The moment you fire your first shot, a horrible scream rises over the skyline. It's an animalistic, bloodthirsty thing, and as it washes over the city another begins- and another, and another until the whole city is awash in it's horrible sound.
"That can't be good..."

I didn't shoot... Eh whatever.

Cork starts roaring.

Sure. Better have an excuse for why you're late, however.

The screams die down, and the silence of the city returns.
"That can't be good. Cork, stop yelling! I have a feeling we don't want whatever just screamed to know where we are..." he looks around nervously before shaking his head. "Anyway, shall we continue? We aren't going to make any progress standing here."

Cork starts pouting, then follows Kelly.

Name: Yueal Altza

Species: Vaeuvuv

Biological/Cybernetic implants: A photographic memory and data storage, extendable tentacle-limbs

Skills: Observation, info, and close combat

Description: Mostly a typical-looking Vaeuvuv, but with a computer attachment on the... underside? Belly? Vaeuvuv are weird. This attachment also holds the tentacle-limbs.

(We'll say he had technological and biological issues using the machine. He was also grabbing some food, but we don't talk about that)

Yueal felt his sight return. He had been a bit late to come in, but... Yes! His team was walking, away from him. He quickly ran over toward them. They felt... dangerous. Yueal had been around killers and the like before, but the scope of this mission... "Hello!" He called in his apparently musical voice. He didn't really get other species. Why would he learn their language if they were going to mock him for an accent anyway? But that was a species' rights discussion for a later time.

"Ah. Greetings. You are Yueal, yes?" He says in a hushed tone. He slows to a trot, falling aligned to the fellow Vaeuevuv. "Why are you late?"

"I had... technical difficulties," he said, not wanting to admit he had stopped for food on the way to the building. It wasn't entirely untrue though. Just mostly. "I assume you're Vaavu?" He asked, looking at the Vaeuvuv-eske metal body.

"Indeed. Anyway, it doesn't matter why you were late, only that you are here now." He turns back to scanning the surrounding streets.

Nothing is there- since the scream, there hasn't been a  sound. No wind, no distant sounds of wildlife. Only the echoing sounds of your own footsteps, breath and heartbeat are audible in this eerie city.

Cork sits down and starts tinkering with a random device he had in his pockets.

Spoiler

@AmazingGoob do we have any idea on where to go?

Guen has stopped his trek toward the city, and is waiting for the others.

Suddenly, the windows shatter on a nearby window and something- it's to sudden and too fast to notice- leaps towards Guen.
