You might also want to use something for throat coat to help, though that might be more for theatre, when you're singing through an entire show. What I usually use for throat coat is hot lemon water, which sounds gross but is actually really good. Some people's voices react badly to dairy, while I know other people who use straight sweetened condensed milk for their throat coat. I'm actually more like...right in between mezzo and high soprano, but I really like singing harmonies, so mezzo is more fun for me. I have a (guy) friend who up through 9th grade could sing along with Christine. No joke.
