Is “kitten cat” an oxymoron?

Not an oxymoron, but redundant. Unless I'm misunderstanding the situation.

 

That’s the argument here- is kitten cat the equivalent of “cat cat” or “baby adult”?

Depends on your perspective- it could also be considered as “baby cat” and cat could technically be considered as “adult cat”. Or it couldn’t be if you use different definitions/interpretations of the word.
