Coolest Mistborn Tricks

What's the coolest trick you could use as a mistborn? A twinborn? How about with another metalborn friend helping you out? List the coolest stuff you could possibly do with your powers!

Here's mine: A few crashers (Steelpushing & Weight storing) stand on the ground with a lot of steel and stored up weight, as well as a bag of coins. Their perfectly normal non-metalborn friend needs to get from one ledge to the other, and stands just above the first crasher in line. When the normal person jumps off the ledge, the steelpusher throws a coin upwards, Pushing on it and increasing their weight. The person lands on this coin, jumping off of it and to the next coin, thrown by the next crasher in line. The person continues running across this makeshift bridge of coins until they reach the other side.

Difficulty: 10/10

Effectiveness: 1/10

Aesthetic: 11/10

Here's one that I wish they would've figured out how to do in TFE: Get a full feruchemist or a steel ferring with an aluminum medallion. The feruchemist/ferring stores identity, then stores small amounts of speed into steel. The steel is then ground down into flakes and given to a Mistborn or Steel misting. The Misting or Mistborn can then burn the flakes for speed whenever they need an edge.

Someone call the Alethi army and tell them that their bridge crew technology has been rendered obsolete.

Coolest trick I can think of. Mistbron creates a big Cadmium bubble to slow down time around himself and his opponent. Next he anchors a very small speed bubble around himself so that he can move at normal speed inside the Cadmium bubble. Screams out "Za Warudo, Toki wo Tomare" and moves behind them then resets time.

Skilled Lurchers could maneuver themselves and a metal such that the metal orbits around them at high speed. They run towards an opponent to hit them with the orbiting metal, or even release the metal at a specific time to fling it at the opponent. This would let Lurchers hit things from a distance like Coinshots, though it'd be harder. It kind of happens once in TFE when Kelsier's fighting the inquisitors in the square, when he Pulls an object while moving to swing a metal in an arc to hit something, though I'm thinking of something more like this:

Depending on how the physics work, it could be pretty easy or very difficult to get a metal orbiting around yourself. More videos in the spoiler.

Spoiler

Lurchers could also use slingshots or a spring-based firearm with metal ammo to fire objects from a distance.

I wonder what would happen if you burned duralumin with those flakes...?

Two in one here, both via the use of an "allomantic grenade" stored with duralumin allomancy.

The first one requires the use of the grenade (used by anyone) and a mistborn (or a person who can burn both duralumin & another metal, possibly via hemalurgy). First, the mistborn burns duralumin. Second, the person hurls the allomantic grenade. Third, the moment the grenade detonates, the person also burns the other metal. Did they just duralumin their duralumin? Double-duralumin their other metal? What would that even do?

In retrospect I realize you didn't need a grenade just a Nicrosil burner. Silly me.

The second one could also be via nicrosil misting, but I think a grenade would be cooler. Picture yourself as a steel misting, just hopping along on boxings, when suddenly you're soaring thousands of feet into the air, and you realize that you've run out of metals! With a well-timed duralumin touch/grenade, anyone could launch a steelrunner skyhigh, without any means of breaking their fall. This makes me want a special Pokemon episode where team rocket members become mistborns and somone does this to them, so that way they can go "blasting off again... ping"

I need this in my life now...

Meowth would obviously be a kandra though:P

@Artemos Kelsier actually does something similar to that in the first book. When he is fighting Bendal he Pulls on one soldier's breast plate while pulling on several others in a different direction to pivot himself and use the first soldier as a wrecking ball of sorts (how it's actually described in the book) to fling the soldier as a weapon against the Inquisitor.

Duralumin and zinc might be able to cause psychotic episodes.

compounded iron might let you mess with planetary orbit. You would need a ridiculous amount of weight though, and a metalmind big enough to hold it.

You could store your A-tin and A-bronze senses in a tin metalmind and then tap it to gain them while being invisible to bronze without a copper cloud.

Construct a network of unbroken three strand solid core wire with one copper, one zinc and one Nicrosil wire. Use shifts of compounders in speed bubbles to fill the Nicrosil wire with F-copper and F-zinc, and the zinc wire with mental speed. Expand it as necessary by grafting more wires onto it. You could connect the wires to plates that people can touch and access the network. You can add an aluminum wire and end plate in case people want to store something in public copper. The grafted on wires would probably need to be melted into the network in order to get them to connect. Scadrian internet in a nutshell. Who needs CPUs when you have F-zinc? As a bonus, you could add other types of wires for things like public healthcare and nutrition.

Expounding on the idea of public copper, you could have people who’s full time job is reposting something that was in the public copper. Basically they maintain Wikipedia pages by rereading a physical copy with F-zinc and then post it back in the public copper when ever anyone takes a copy.

Edit:Imagine being the poor soul that is responsible for keeping Scadrials version on Pornhub online lol :(

Edit2: you could also use detached pieces of copper as flash storage. Touch the network but store your memory in the detached piece.

One that would be scary is a twinborn that can burn steel and could store speed making them a compounder. If they did this they would be able to store speed then burn it to use 10x the speed. IF they stored enough speed then it would look like they are teleporting and then with extra steel in their system they could shoot coins. Imagine a person moving fast enough to bypass most defense then shooting coins at people at insane speeds.

It'd probably be difficult to aim, as the speed of travel would cause the arc of projection to skew, yeah? Though dropping the speed to fire a level shot, then flashing away to another point to fire from again, would be doable, it's something that would require a fair amount of practice. Like doing a biathlon, but at a much higher speed of travel and rate of acceleration/deceleration from a stop.

Yes, if Sazed had ever figured out that storing his Identity into an aluminummind while filling another metalmind meant that Vin or Elend could burn it for a 10x burst of the attribute, it would have been a game-changer in Era 1. (Tiny unkeyed goldminds as Mistborn or Augur health pills! Hey Ham, have a SuperThug power-up!) But (1) aluminum was very rare in the Final Empire, almost more so than atium until that started getting used up with Mistborn fighting after the fall of TLR, and (2) the Feruchemical property is not obvious, nor instinctive.

It makes me wonder how they were able to get duralumin so readily, as that is an alloy of aluminum that should therefore be even HARDER to have on hand than aluminum. My guess is that what aluminum they had after defeating TLR, presumably accessed from what was left from the Steel Ministry, they used to make duralumin after discovering its Allomantic property fairly quickly.

Sazed probably had some amount of time to try to figure out what aluminum and duralumin stored Feruchemically, but not very much because making and using duralumin became essential for Vin and Elend in fighting and controlling koloss, and he kind of had a lot on his plate as it was.

True they would probably slow or even stop before they shoot people. Still that would be very scary.

How about a Steelrunner with an Uzi circling around... Yikes! But, go too fast and fire too quickly, and the Steelrunner might actually get hit by their own fire "on the other side" of the circle.

That is true, but people like this would probably be very careful as they would worry about their lives with the speed they are going at. One question I have is how fast could a steelrunner go while still being able to see and identify what is going on around them. They are unable to store mental speed, so would they just move really fast and not be able to see or identify anything?

Well they would have lots of time to see/identify stuff, because from their perspective everybody and everything else just kind of freezes while they move at normal speed. That's why Wayne's speed bubble was able to mostly cancel out Bleeder's steelrunning (with her outside the bubble); she was tapping at a rate equal or not much faster than however high Wayne was flaring his bendalloy.

The problem, physics-wise, would be in how a Steelrunner can touch or grab things at high speed without releasing the metalmind. A "speed bubble" makes the physics of it all easier, because it separates the frames of reference; you're either in the bubble or outside of it, and crossing the frame's boundary does weird stuff.

The easy, "c'mon this is fiction so don't think so hard about it" answer would be is a kind of tactile speed field - since anything they're wearing or carrying on their person is obviously going with them at the same speed, or their clothes would have strange things happen, the same gets extended to anything they reach out and touch. That's why Marasi tapping speed from the BoM in the airship was able to move so fast she produced a sonic boom, yet also be able to grab metal vials from the belts or hands of Telsin and the various Allomancer guards around her. Otherwise it should have been similar to standing still and trying to grab a vial flying past you at over Mach 1 - your hand would probably get damaged.

I think of it more as localized speed bubbles in the shape of the human body that also expands to surround anything you touch or carry.

How I imagine a Mistborn would kill a Knight Radiant.

1. Get in close. Right in front of the knight.

2. Burn bendalloy, then Atium.

3. Prepare to burn steel to launch a coin throught the eyeslit into the knights skull.

4. Look for the future in that the coin passes throught the bendalloy bubble in such a way, that it hits the knights brain throught the eyeslit.

5. Launch the coin in that way.

Result: The knight is either dead or severly hampered by the coin in his brain. If he isn't dead, pull your obsidian dagger and move in for the kill.

Something that I always thought was a missed opportunity in Era 1... Mistborns could pretty easily test for whether or not whoever they are fighting is also Mistborn by duralamin-enhanced soothing and rioting everyone; Vin uses this type of thing on someone and it has pretty obvious results (I don't remember who) but it really could have helped with identification of enemies.

They didn't have duraluminum.
