Long Game 63: The Set

So, we should probably start consolidating votes at this point.  Current vote count.

  • Zillah (0) - Coda
  • Alvron (2) - Zillah, Coda
  • xino (1) - Rath
  • Coda (1) - Alvron

(OK, votes aren't too far spread out...xino and Abstrusity haven't voted and I'm the only non-Alvron player to not vote on Alvron currently.)  As such, I'll go ahead and move my vote over.  I will say, Coda's comments today have some alarm bells ringing in my head...I was kind of going along with the 'it must be one of xino, Zillah, or Alvron' comment, but looking back at Elkanah's post, that was a fairly strong assertion, but it didn't seem like he had anything to back it up.  I may have just been willing to believe it since I was on the nice list, and Elkanah flipped village.

In the meantime, I'll go ahead and swap over to Alvron xino.  Not sure who has the other vote manipulation, but if it's Alv and it's Alv.elim, then we don't have a solid lynch if I don't do this.

Well, that's it I guess.  Assuming Rath is cancelling two votes on Coda, there's nothing I can do now to survive the lynch.  I do however implore you all to lynch Coda next cycle.  It has to be either Coda or Xino with an outside chance of Rath.

Abs is cleared by being scanned N1 and killing Venture D2 after there was a conversion.
I'm cleared by me knowing I'm village (as you will all soon see) and by also killing Shanerocks D5 with Elk.
Zillah is cleared as they didn't post at all during the 5th cycle and there was a kill.
Rath has an outside chance of being evil simply because I can't see anything to clear him.  If they hadn't posted at the end of N5 they would've been cleared.  They would've had more to gain by not talking as then it would be either Xino or Zillah up for the lynch.
Xino was roleblocked N5 and there was a kill so unless they are a Thug, which I can see there being two Thugs on team evil but don't think it's likely.
Coda has nothing going either way apart from my constant feelings and the tone of their posts this cycle.  They also happen to be a Gold Ferring which is the only role the Elim team hasn't had yet.  Yes it's thin but it's better than almost anything else we have.

Alv, I'm going to be honest with you. I do not think you are an elim. As a gesture of good faith, I will change my vote to xino Alv. If you see this in time, you are free to save your skin. @Alvron

I'll take that lifeline, Coda.  Thanks.  It makes it a tie which is just fine with me.  Xino, may the Gods of Luck and Chance decide our fate.

Yarra wasn’t having the best of days. The impromptu pub crawl he’d been ‘invited’ on the previous night had him with a pounding headache. He still wasn’t sure why he’d even agreed to it.

Luckily things during the day’s meeting weren’t focussed on him. Catamire and Pete were at each other’s throats, and everyone else seemed to be more concerned about them than about anyone else. Yarra decided this was probably as good a moment as any to catch up on some sleep.

***
Yarra woke with a start, but it took him a moment to pinpoint why. After a moment of looking around blearily the cause was pretty clear though. The shouting had stopped, and everyone was looking at him.

“So what’s got you so tired?” Pete asked.

“Been up all night arresting people, was that it?” Catamire added.

“N-now, hold up a minute...” Yarra started, still badly hungover and sleep deprived. “...that’s not it at all!”

“So what have you been doing then? You look like you’ve been having a party, and I can’t think of any reason why one of us would want to have a party right now.” Zillah added.

The fight between Catamire and Pete seemed to dissolve very quickly, and all that was left was a united front. A front, unfortunately, united against Yarra.

“Now listen here, I’ll...” Yarra didn’t get much further than that. A gunshot rang out, taking him down.

Well, I am of the opinion that it is Rath or Alvron. Assuming there is an arrest and Rath still has the vote manipulation powers, everyone must vote Rath. Someone roleblock Rath and Alvron, and if a kill goes through, they're cleared.

Zillah is the only one with a roleblock and it can only block one of us.  Personally, I think you should be roleblocked but I'm willing to let Zillah make that choice.

Zillah, I would recommend you block Rath, since if someone dies, it will be very difficult to lynch him. Neither I nor Alv have access to vote manipulation, so Rath makes the most sense.

So what I'm gathering here is that Coda votes block Rath or Alvron, and Alvron votes block Coda.

Edit:

Abstrusity did not post during the day cycle, which means that they have to post sometime during this cycle should they be an EBI agent wanting to submit a kill.

It is your choice whom you wish to block, I only suggest you don't reveal who it is until the last minute or two in the cycle if at all.

I'm saying block Rath because if it is him, everyone would have to vote for him because of his roleblock power. Don't tell us who you block or the elim will frame the person you choose.

First off, I agree that I'm probably the best candidate to role-block tonight.

Next, I'm assuming it doesn't matter whether or not the elim knows who is blocked or not.  Most of the time the only response you get is 'you successfully blocked <player name>' regardless of whether the person took an action or not.  Take the Elandera lynch, for example, Young Bard wasn't able to say, "we roleblocked Elandera and were able to confirm that we blocked her from submitting the kill"...it was, "we roleblocked Elandera, there wasn't a kill, so we think she should be considered for the lynch."

So, basically, the elim is going to submit the kill or not, it doesn't really matter whether we know who is roleblocked.  If the elim is the one role-blocked, he or she is going to try to pawn it off on someone else being the elim and trying to frame them.  (honestly, I'd think it's worth lynching that person regardless)  If the elim is not role-blocked and they don't submit the kill, they're going to be able to get a free mislynch on whomever was role-blocked.  If the elim is not role-blocked and they do submit the kill, then we're business as usual.

Honestly, between yesterday's comments and today's, I'm really starting to move into Alvron's camp of Coda being the likely remaining elim.  We've seen the following:

  • Making assertions that he can't be the elim based on Elkanah's thoughts with no proof, hoping that everyone would just take that as proof since Elkanah flipped village.
  • My logic yesterday regarding Alvron was a bit faulty...if Alvron IS the vote manipulator (seems kind of likely at this point) then he took care of shanerocks with vote manipulation when it wasn't just self-preservation...that would be a pretty huge bus action.
  • The late vote change from Alvron to xino by Coda seems like a decent pocketing attempt.

Honestly, this is the first time I've thought I had a solid lead on an elim all game.  (Other than Elandera, but that was all Bard's doing)

When I die, which will not be tonight because I am the one under suspicion, I will laugh at all of you so hard. Lynch me if you want but it's your funeral. I am smiling right now, and I don't do that often. The confidence in your statement... Hahahahahahahahahaha. I think it's you. I think you won't kill me tonight because I am under suspicion. I think you are affirming Alvron's fears in an attempt at solidarity and unity. I think your ploy will be very successful and I will be lynched tomorrow. Then the village cannot lynch you because of your vote manipulation powers.

I think, hesitantly, that Alvron is village. Rath seems suspicious to me.

Rath was the one who almost got me killed, so many days ago. That's the prime basis for my suspicion, but his more recent interactions have seemed just a pinch off as well.

Abstrusity, will you unite with me against Rath? Alv and Rath seem pretty chummy, but I also agree that Alv is village. Rath is probably trying to pocket Alv. If enough of us die, Rath will win because of the vote manipulation.

This post seems incredibly suspicious. Why post within a few hours of the end of they cycle when they could easily have waited until D7? This seems like an elim making sure they have a post in order to submit a successful kill.

I'm not as concerned about this, but I wouldn't say that 'Alv and Rath seem pretty chummy'...first off, Alv hasn't even been in thread for quite some time...and I basically just pulled my suspicions off him and onto you...which then effectively turned your response from, "Rath is the best to block because if he's the elim and we don't stop him, he can win with vote manipulation" to "Rath is the elim!!!"  To your other point here, I do agree, if I were the elim, this would be a decent pocket strategy though.  Not much I can say in response to that.

10 minutes ago, Coda said:

Again, we gain no value out of this. IN FACT, I think we lose information because of this.  As I mentioned previously, if I were the elim, Zillah would be my priority kill at this point.  (Followed by either me or Alv due to vote manipulation).  So, if Zillah doesn't reveal who is roleblocked, and guesses wrong, then we lose the information of who gets cleared.  And the elim gains nothing from knowing who is roleblocked.  (Details above)

I agree...but Abstrusity hasn't really done anything else throughout the game to give me pause.  Then again, the thread today has kind of turned a bit into Rath vs Coda...which would be a great time to sit out and eat some popcorn.

Interesting that you agree when you yourself did the exact same thing N5.

Agreed.  But then it is down to the two of you.  *munches on popcorn*

“Nah, nah, y’see, this is way better! Before it was just ‘whack em on the head and sit on em until we say to let’m go’, which‘s boring. But now we’s get to have a little fun!” Henchmen number one asserted as the group made their way back to base early in the morning. He was walking unsteadily and slurring his words thanks to having drunk a lot of wine.

“You’re not wrong, but aren’t those we go after supposed to be evil? Or at least they’re not with us!” Henchmen number 2 complained.

“We don’t know that.” Number three said, tapping her head. “We just ensure they don’t get up to anything bad! The rest is up to the bosses to figure out.”

“Hear, hear! She gets it! We jus’ take them out for the night, so might as well go do something fun, rather than spend all our time in a damp warehouse on the docks.” Number four added.

“Guys, why are there a whole lot of uniformed people walking in and out of our headquarters?” This brought the group up short. Their headquarters was indeed bustling with activity, which was quite unusual. Uniformed men and women walked in and out, carrying boxes full of papers or escorting people in handcuffs out to waiting carriages.

“Oi, ain’t that the boss that’s being brought out?”  Number five said, pointing at the figure being practically carried out of the nondescript building by a pair of clearly kolos-blooded constables.

“Looks like she gave them a fight! Not that I know who she is. Or what that building is. Or who any of you are. I bid you a good day!” and former henchwoman number 2 turned around and walked away into a side ally.

The rest of the former henchpeople nodded their assent at that statement and without any further words split up and left the site of their former headquarters.
