Alternate Medallions

We know you can create a Medallion granting an Allomantic or Feruchemical power.  Using this, you can make medallions that create Connection and Identity and Investiture.  A big time ability of Bondsmiths, the ability to connect with individuals and learn their language instantly, is available to everyone in Southern Scadrial.

Could you, then, create a Medallion that granted a Nahel Bond?  Store enough of whatever attribute you needed to so that whoever held or touched the object had a bond with the Spren and could then use Stormlight?  Could you create a Medallion that granted just the ability to use Stormlight, without needing a Spren?

As an alternate, what about Sandmastery?  Or to be able to use Aons?

There are fabrails(like soulcasters) for all 10 surges.

Fabrials replicate Soulcasting abilities. Is it possible for fabrials to replicate all such Surgebinding abilities?

Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased)

Yes, good question! Fabrials can replicate all of the Surgebinding abilities.

I see no reason why you could not duplicate other magic effects with other kinds of investiture based technology.  We have no idea however how medallions are made so we can't tell you if that is the correct method.  That being said the correct nicrosil medallion should grant what you want assuming it was made by the right person and there are some other ways to do things with them for example.

Questioner

In Bands of Mourning we saw the medallions that can give people Connection to the area that they are in.  Two thoughts on that.  One… if a person were to get a connection to one of the areas from Elantris would they be able to gain the powers from the area?

Brandon Sanderson

Yeah that’s a good question, it’s not that easy.  But it is an excellent question.

Questioner

And if there was an area where the primary language was sign language, would a person gain the ability to speak sign language to the people present by using that connection?

Brandon Sanderson

Yes.  It is definitely related to the Cognitive Realm and how people are thinking about language.
