Mistborn Secret History Questions (for Brandon/ WoBs)

The Ire and connections to Elantris: what significance does the ire Aon have on aging (and are the jars of Invesitiure? part of it, maybe? and the cord to the back of the building is storing Connection?) and how much? (Ruin says that they have existed for far too long) Do we know if the Ire are wary/ staying away from shadows (the Shadesmar equivalent)? Does the Orb store Connection, but Connection to nothing in particular?

Kelsier and the Well of Ascension: Does being in the presence of a perpendicularity (or a bunch of Investiture) "expand your soul"?

Spikes: storing them in blood preserves them, does it have to be the Inquisitor's blood? If not, could it work for a Kandra?

Identity of clothing: if Kelsier thought of his clothing as having words/ knots in it, and believed it enough, couldn't he take notes?

Hoid: Shards (at least Preservation) refer to him as Cephandrius, is that what he went by when he met them (probably a RAFO for DragonSteel)? Do we have a WoB if Hoid is using "Stick" as an oar? How were the Pits of Hathsin "easier to access" (paraphrasing) as a perpendicularity (how would he have escaped)? Do we know if Hoid has the equivalent of a gemstone that doesn't leak Investiture (like from Shadesmar near Roshar)? Does Hoid know Sazed (he references a tall, bald, and wears lots of earings before he makes for the Well)? Do we know if the bandages that Kelsier saw him (percieving himself as) wearing are reminicient of his time on Sel?

Kelsier: Anyone else notice how he takes advantage of Preservation? Mare's flower picture was placed by Preservation/ actions of Preservation, right?

Ruin: He claims not to be Evil, but he intends to destroy everything on Scadrial. Ati might not be Evil, but Ruin is.

Shadesmar: do we know what the "strange formations of rock, like glassy sculptures" are?

Elantrians are functionally immortal, and Brandon's said the Ire are really really really old. The cord is probably somehow transporting a bit of power from the Dor over to that space in order to power the tower and their projects and help sustain their powers.

Pretty sure the orb was specifically designed to cause whoever used it to be able to hold Preservation's power.

I don't think that a normal person hanging out in a perp would be affected by it a whole bunch, since a lot of people use the perp near the Pits. Remember that it was Preservation himself that put Kelsier there, and Kelsier wasn't really in a normal...state...at the time.

Any kind of blood would keep spikes from decaying. Not sure what "it" is that you're asking about for the kandra, though?

If you mean Kelsier as a Cognitive Shadow, he's not really wearing clothes, it's just the residual self image, like in the Matrix. Believing something isn't enough, though. He'd have to actually see his clothing that way. It's not really an easy thing to do.

Hoid has had a lot of names. Cephandrius is one of the earlier ones. Ummm why would he use a stick for an oar? It'd be too short and small to be useful.

They were easier in that it was easier to access, and might not have been a dangerous pool of liquid locked up in a secret passageway in a secure room in the palace of The Lord Ruler in the middle of the most densely populated and guarded city in the world?

Hoid has a lot of things he's not supposed to. Yes, he was clearly referring to Sazed. He doesn't have to know Sazed to know of him.

Kelsier plays people. That's how he rolls. No idea about the flower.

The Shards are forces. Forces aren't evil, they just exist. Entropy and decay aren't necessarily bad things. Ati used to be a kind and generous man. He probably viewed Ruin as evil, so over time that's what Ati+Ruin turned into.

Nope.

If the kandra donated some mass/ fluid to keep the spikes functional

a stick

Not a stick, the stick

Thanks for the other clarifications!

I seems to remember a WOB about how there were boats that people could use around the Pits. Remember, if you're in the CR with a physical body, land and water are swapped and you need something physical like a boat(or apparently in Hoid's case, a corpse) to get around. There weren't any bodies of water around the Well, so it was basically an island in the CR. I think Kelsier was able to circumvent this limitation because he was just a cognitive shadow, no physical aspect. And like RShara mentioned, the exit point of the Pits was a bit less conspicuous than the palace of TLR.

Land and water aren't as dramatically different on Scadrial as in other places. Land was just a little...squishy, while water was solid.

The ground was only squishy to Kel cause he was dead. The Mists were "liquid" to the living, which is why Hoid need a "boat"

Though it might be possible for cognitive shadows to see their selves differently and therefore change there clothing, I don't Kelsier has the strength of will to do this, or if you will the Alar* required. It would be extremely hard to change you how see yourself.
