Because the way I read it you are implying the code is the spiritual aspect, in which case what does a hemalurgical spike do? It cuts a piece of code from another program and adds it to the new one, in other words it is changing the code. That how a computed would work sure. I never intended this to be a perfect analogy. It's a program setup that can't really exist in reality because it would require all kinds of things that just yeah... Anyway, it would work something like the this. The Spiritual is a base layer of code that contains all of the possible code that any program has, does, or could possibly ever need. It is literally every possible combination of code that could exist within the parameters of reality. The Cognitive is a more tradition layer of programs. Some are limited to this layer, and run their routines, and facilitate the needs of other programs. The majority are programs that bridge this layer to the last. The physical is the output layer, where things are seen... But it's like a touchscreen in the what happens there flows back in the other direction as well. The physical and the Cognitive change frequently, but the Spiritual doesn't have to. When a Hemalurgic spike "transfers" a piece of code from one program to another, the base layer doesn't have to change at all. It's still the exact same piece of code. It's just being accessed by a different program in the other layers. Gold and malatium allomancy can look at the way people could have turned out if different choices had been made because all of the code is still there, but the time information doesn't allow for travel backwards. Fortune in its various forms, let's you look down lines of probability of what could happen in the future.... But until that time arrives the path isn't set. Time, place, what programs have access to what code. To the Spiritual, it's all just information. It's there to be accessed and used.
