Can you Spot the Source?

14 posts in this topic

Somewhere in the first 2 books Navani says to Dalinor (quoted loosely from memory) "in some cultures, we'd be obligated to marry." Now, I'm not sure what culture in Roshar or even the Cosmere, but I think there is real world source for it. Where is that source, and why is it there? Call it a challenge for all of you. Good Luck!

It is also still a practice in certain eastern African countries, and in some regions of Pakistan and India.

Officially, I'm aware. I know the sources intimately. In practice it is not done.

Usually.  It realy depends where.  I know of someone who did it.

Curious, specifically because as one who grew up with this I am certain that it is not main stream to do so.

After researching.  Only the offer is made.  There is also a specific way that the women then rejects the man.

That makes more sense. I knew that an offer is still made, but there is no option to accept.

Maybe or maybe it is just understood that rejection will happen.

This my area of knowledge. The offer is only made as a technicality. No actual expectation of acceptance exists.
