“Does anybody here actually know how to hitchhike? I haven’t really done it much...” he said. Was he supposed to make some sort of hand signal or sound?

Wita shrugged and waited until the next car drove towards them. She lifted a hand, waved at them and the car drove by. "I don't know." She replied, although she suspected that he was right. "I am supposed to take the bus, as its free and they don't like me getting into the car with strangers."

She tried again and again, until a small bus stopped in front of them. It was painted in bright colours, symbols and even some text and she found herself looking at it with a wide smile. She liked colorful things, and the bus looked beautiful. She could hear some music, when the window was lowered and a dark, sweet smell entered her nose. A young man with long hair leaned out of the wind and grinned a relaxed smile, while he gave a wave with his hand.

"Hello." Wita smiled at him and waved as well. "We wondered if you maybe could give us a ride? We need to go to Big Ben."

“Oh, peace, girl,” the man said, a clear accent slipping over his lips, relaxedly looking over Marcel, Lewis and Kira. He kept his smile, slipped on some circular sunglasses with rainbow colouring and tilted his head a little to the back.

“Faith,” he called out. “Would you, like, mind to open up our door? These kind strangers want to get to Ben himself.” A muffled response came from the back and the man’s smile widened and he looked back to Wita, hung an arm outside of the window.

“We’d be, like, honoured to take you. We’re passing Ben on our little tour, aren’t we Faith?” Another muffled response from the back.

“I’m Willow. This is the Rainbow Ribbon,” he slapped the door of the van. “Groovy to, like, make you’re acquaintance, dudes and dudettes.”

The large back door of the van slid open and to the side, exposing the colourful interior, a few other people inside, and a woman gesturing them in.

Marcel was frowning hard throughout all of this. Hippies. But, they needed a ride. Stepping closer to Wita he looked at Lewis and Kira, wanted to see what they all thought, if they were ready to get on.

Wita grinned happily at the interior and the nice man's words. "I'm Wita." She told him brightly and turned to Marcel, completely ignoring or missing the frown on his face. It simply wasn't something her brain registered as important. Despite her intention to only store a little until she needed to evade a situation, she hadn't even noticed that she'd slowly increased her storing while they had walked along the street. Over the years it had become something she did instinctively, that belonged to her like breathing. And while she knew on some level what she was doing, that she had wanted to stop, she wasn't able to really follow that thought through anymore. Not when there were other things around she needed to keep track of. "And this is Marcel. He's the best." Turning to Lewis she introduced him as well. "He's nearly as cool as Marcel."

Without hesitating she climbed into the back of the Van. "Hello!" She greeted them as well, still smiling. "Thank you so much, for giving us a ride." Looking outside she waved at the other two to follow her. "I love your bus." She told the strangers. "It's so beautiful and all these colours. If I ever have a car, it will look like this bus."

“Hey, Wita,” a woman said, smiled at her from within the van. Her long hair had colourful beads in which matched her clothing, and she wore simple sandals within the van. The interior sported purple and yellow couches, blinking lights and a small haze that drifted through the air.

“Welcome aboard. I’m Faith, practitioner of peace and queen of this van.” She grinned lazily and gestured to a man with a large beard, wearing a rainbow singlet. He was laying down on one of the couches and was holding a guitar adorned with stickers. “That’s groovy-Gabe. He’s always thinking of some song. And that’s Mick,” she said, pointing to a man smoking something. He was swaying, and he had the biggest smile on his face.

“Make love, not war, the holy words have been spoken.” Faith clapped and Mick bowed, looked to Wita and offered his pipe to her. “Ever seen all of the stars, at once?”

Marcel had been standing by, waiting for others when Wita had jumped into the van, and almost immediately he stepped in too, just in case, cautiously remained next to her. When ‘Mick’ offered her his pipe Marcel stepped in front.

“She’s too young,” he said sternly. As if Wita hanging around a bunch of strangers in a van wasn’t enough.

“She looks like a full young-lady to me,” Faith said. No one seemed offended or even frowned at Marcel’s words. They all continued smiling just the same. “You must be Marcel. You look a bit like Mr. Corporate to me.” She grinned and laid back on the floor and Marcel sighed, stepped back, but still close to Wita.

Curiously Wita looked at the pipe, at Marcel rushing to stop her from smoking it. She leaned forward, inhaled the sweet smoke her head immediatly feeling a little lighter. Hesitating she looked back at Marcel again, and then shook her head. She trusted him, and so she went along with his assessment of the situation, without questioning his decision. Mick shrugged and resumed his previous position on the couch, while Wita looked around, wide-eyed. There were blinking lights, in all colours of the rainbow and she found herself flinching back when they turned red, yellow, orange before a pink finally released her of their grip. She reached out for her bracelet, surprised that he had been storing the whole time and only gently upped it a little, before the red light returned.

"We want to take a look at Big Ben." she explained. "I heard it's wonderful at night." It was a weak explanation, but Faith waved it away with her hand. "Do what you want. Who am I to tell you?" Wita smiled at her and tugged at Marcel's sleeve, asked him to sit down next to. "Still thank you for taking us." She thanked them, just as she had been taught, only to be met with good hearted laughter.

“Yes. Thanks,”

Marcel said, words short and when Wita tugged his sleeve he obliged, sat down next to her and distracted himself by counting the seconds, looking down at his watch. Just after midnight. They had a couple hours. Slowly he tried relaxing in his seat. Sometimes he wished he was like Wita, with her blissful ignorance sometimes.

“In a rush?” He heard from the side, saw that ‘groovy-Gabe’ had noticed him checking his watch. Gabe smiled, sat up on the couch and picked up his guitar.

“Don’t be, Mr. Corporate. Live in the moment. Oh wow. I just had, like, another song idea.”

“Ooh,” Faith said, looked to Wita. “His songs are the best. Hey, are your other friends hopping on? We’re scheduled for lift-off in a bit.” She smiled and looked outside to Lewis and Kira.

Kira looked up when Faith mentioned her, a faint smile on her face. She'd gotten distracted watching Lyssa, who was currently getting way too excited over the bus. "Look at how many colors it has! And it has so many shapes, and it has flowers on the side!"

"Hmm? Oh. Yeah." She climbed onto the bus after Wita and Marcel, still smiling. It felt weird to smile after everything that had happened that night, but Lyssa was weird too, so maybe that made sense somehow. "Sorry. I got kind of distracted. Nice bus, by the way."

A gasp signaled Lyssa's entrance to the bus. "The inside is cool too! And they have plants, and paintings, and music, and Kira, do you think they might like gardening?" Because that was clearly the most important question.

Wita grinned as the bus started to move and they drove through the city. The sweet smoke inside made her feel a little light headed and she smiled at Faith and Kira and Marcel, clapping along when another song was started and Gabe started to play on his guitar. She had never heard it before, but it was music and she loved music. Happily she waved at the fairy again, wondered what she might do now, that they were driving, or if cars were somehow bad for fairies. She lost her thought somewhere along the way, and when Gabe moved on to a slower song, she smiled and rested her head on Marcel's shoulder, content to be here. The night had turned out incredibly well for her.

Outside Big Ben was approaching, looming in the dark like the tower always did. And yet, something felt off about the place tonight. Birds were switching course and made a detour to rest somewhere else, even insects had slowly moved awa from the place. Without being able to pinpoint it, those that could easly take another way did so, and others just picked up their pace a little, without even knowing why.

The bus moved and Marcel leaned against a van wall, looked out as the lights of city buildings cruised by. Neon signs were flickering and clubs were proudly displaying their choice of musician tonight, though there was definitely a less intense air about them than was in the early night. The time now — just after midnight — was the dying end of a night’s party craze, and the lights knew that.

Marcel looked towards Kira and her spren and stretched, but kept stiff throughout the journey. You could never be sure when you could trust these types. But they all smiled relaxedly and didn’t seem to have a care in the world.

As the drive and music continued on Marcel found himself relaxing somewhat where he sat, smiled slightly when Wita rested her head on his shoulder. What he would give to be as happy and carefree as her. However, he needed to remind himself that such was the case only out of trauma. Not a position to envy.

Big Ben approached and Marcel noted its position on the landscape, imagined what it would look like when sunrise happened and that bell struck ‘6’. Portals? It seemed a vague answer as any. But, as they had discussed, they were not here to do anything, only to stop whatever the bad guys were doing, to carry on Christopher’s work. He nodded himself. A righteous goal.

Gabe concluded his song and Marcel clapped lightly. Gabe smiled. “That’s the spirit. As for my next song — any requests?” He looked around the van.

"Something about a hero." She requested and he shot her a strange look, before starting to sing again. Wita remained where she was, watched Big Ben come closer, left her head on Marcel's shoulder, completely oblivious to the strange look Gabe and Faith shot them. She looked outside, wondered what they might face, what they would have to do when they arrived there. It were idle thoughts, ones she didn't follow through to the end, more a wondering without any expectation. She didn't know, and she would deal with whatever was there, when it was there.

When the Van slowed she looked up at the tower looming over them and finally moved, opened the door and got out. "Thank you for the ride!" she called out to the nice people and waved at them happily with her hand.

Sorry for the abscence, I just said something along those lines in TKND but basically, my internet interactions these last few weeks have been close to non-existent.

Lewis followed the others into the colorful van. It was uncomfortable, to say the least. These people just, smiled so much, it was really hard to keep up with. He tried forcing a smile, not a very convincing one but it would have to do, it was either that or stop using the ring. It probably had been full for a very long time but Lewis wouldn't stop using it. He couldn't risk being happy, he had lost that right.

When they reached Big Ben Lewis let out a sigh of relief as he got out of the van. The thought that these people might kick him out hadn't left him for a second on the way here, even though none of them had stopped smiling. It was creepy.

“Thank you,” Marcel said as the doors opened and he stepped off, the breeze of the night chilly on his skin. Faith smiled and waved back to Wita, reaching something out of her pocket and holding it out to her. A small rainbow pebble.

“You’re very welcome.”

Marcel began to say something but stopped when he saw it was nothing dangerous. He nodded at Lewis as he stepped out of the car and switched his attention to the looming tower in front.

Big Ben. Marcel checked his watch. Almost time. “We need to be quick,” he said.

Wita smiled happily at the pebble and took it in her hand. It was beautiful, swirls of colour covering it and while it was small, it seemed to be heavy for its size. The door was closed and the Van drove away, while she was still looking at it, her attention completely captured by the colours, the beautiful swirls covering it. She rolled it in her hand and lifted it up against a street light. It was solid and she couldn't look through it.

Kneeling down she carefully rolled it around smiling again when she found that it was rolling along on the uneven ground just fine. Smiling she picked it up again and looked at Marcel, slowly registering his words. Standing up she nodded and pocketed the marble.

"Okay." She replied cheerfully and looked at the looming tower ahead. "Maybe there is a back entrance we can use?"

Lewis looked around, the tower itself was too obvious but what about the rest of the building?

"Maybe we should check if one of the doors to the palace is open, we already know there's people inside." The place was huge, they couldn't be guarding all of the entrances, right?

Wita looked up at him and then grinned happily.

"You are right. In the movies people always look for a servants entrance of some sorts."

She started to walk around the closest corner, looked for anything that indicated an open door. There was nothing, only a thing stripe of light behind the next corner. And she turned around, waited for the others to join her. She didn't notice the shadow-like figure barely visible next to the strip of light, nor did she pay attention to the muffled footsteps and the quiet whisper of what could have been two persons.

As Wita walked, Marcel decided to follow her, partly to see what she found, partly in case she got lost or something happened. Although they had only met hours earlier this night, Marcel found himself growing protective of her. He recalled him stopping the hippies from giving anything to her. Well, except for the pebble. But a pebble was a pebble.

As he walked next to Wita he caught himself mid-step. Was that tip-tap the wind? No, it was something else. As he strained his ears he thought he could hear footsteps of some kind. And — yes, there were other things that were off, quiet whisperings. Marcel looked to the strip of light and prepared himself to bring his scalpel.

“They’re here already,” he whispered quietly to Wita. He nodded his head towards the small strip of light.

“They don’t know we know they’re there. We have to take them out, before they alert their superiors.” Superiors... Marcel shivered. What they had dealt were before were simple goons. Whoever would be here, it would be the real deal. “We need to distract them, then attack when they aren’t suspecting.”

Surprised Wita turned her head to him, pausing close to the corner. She nodded, but there was nothing but the strip of light and the soft murmor of the wind. Still she trusted Marcel, believed that he would know, that he wouldn't stop her for no reason and so she smiled at him.

"I can show them my pebble?" She offered, because it was a beautiful pebbly. Maybe they wanted to take a look at it and then Marcel could take over, get rid of them. Hesitating she turned around her axis, looked around at the dark night. The horizon was already turning a dark grey. Dawn was coming. Slowly but as sure as it came daily. She liked to sit outside and watch how the sky changed it colors over the course of hours, how it started dark and then turned grey, finally a light blue until it sometimes turned a vibrant mixture of red and orange and yellow.

She took a breath and eased on her storing, cleared her mind, an uneasy smile on her face.

"We've got about an hour till sunrise." She stated, her voice low. "Can you take on two? Otherwise we maybe could cause a distraction outside and then slip into the tower while they are preoccupied."

Lewis stared at Wita for a moment, that had been a strange change in her behavior. But no time to think about that, there was an obstacle already.

"It would probably be safer to take them out, better now that they're alone than later when they rush in as reinforcements."

Nodding Wita took a step back. It made sense. A part of her recoiled at the thought of taking them out, but he probably was only refering to knocking them out for the moment. "I have no experience with that." She admitted. "I will lead them here and you take care of them?"

Without waiting for a reply she walked around the corner, forced herself to focus her thoughts on the task at hand. She hadn't come far when the first man noticed her and she stopped, tried to feign surprise. She wasn't sure if she managed, but it didn't really matter. Hopefully the shadows surrounding them covered most of her face and made it hard to read.

"New cleaning staff?" She asked as if she had a good reason to walk up to the tower at this hour and mostly because it was the only thing that came to her mind. The man fully turned towards her and she flinched back at the sight of a gun in his hands. "Intruders." She whirled around and ran back the way she had come, her steps echoing on the paveway. A shot echoed though the night and something touched her arms like a gentle breeze, but she continued to run. After a heartbeat she heard another shot, then a curse and then the fast steps of at least two men running after her.

When she neared the corner she didn't slow down, instead silmply ran several steps past her friends, hoping that the men wouldn't notice the trap.

“Wita!” Marcel called in hushed urgency but she was already gone. He waited, keeping a hand in his scalpel and considering peeking over the corner. There was no certainty what would happen if they caught her, and Marcel couldn’t let that happen. His thought were interrupted by deafening blasts that echoed over the walls. He cursed louder just as Wita sprinted past, with the men in close pursuit. Stepping from behind the corner Marcel raised his scalpel threateningly.

One man was running too fast and his momentum brought him to the sharp end of Marcel’s tool.

“Now!” He called to Lewis. The second man had to be taken care of quickly, now, before he called backup.

Lewis stood hiding as Wita went ahead for the distraction. He started burning what he had left, he would need another vial soon. There was a gunshot and then steps running in their direction as he prepared a coin between his fingers. There would be only a moment's window.

Wita passed running and then the first man fell immediatelly by Marcel's hand and Lewis shot the coin through the neck of the second one before he had time to process what had happened. These two wouldn't give any trouble now.

Wita stumbled to a halt when she heard the two men fall to the ground, and she slowly turned around, stared at the bodies for a moment. Blood started to spread on the street and her eyes widened, her face distorted at the mass of blood, at the way the faces of them had changed, their limbs moving slightly. They were moving, they couldn't be dead, she swallowed, forced her eyes away from them and walked back to the corner, making a wide arch around the place where they were lying on the ground.

"I guess the path is clear." She said, her voice sounding numb even to her own eyes. If they started like this, if they - they were here to stop them, to prevent them from doing something, and she knew it was right, knew it was important, but they were dead, they had to be dead, there was so much blood around. She pressed a hand against the wall of a nearby building, tried to steady herself. "Let's be quick. The sooner we are in that room, the better."

And yet she hesitated to take the first step. "Does one of you want to go first?"

Hey, do you guys want to bare-bones describe what happened in-RP, or maybe figure out the actions your characters took to break things and then just say them? Whatever works for you all? Or no closure at all, if you prefer :P it is your RP. And it’s been a very good one to read.
