Darkness twisted as the knife came in.  It grazed his side, drawing blood.  He grunted, then began a blinding flurry of stabs and slashes at his opponent.  As he attacked, he began tapping his reserve of kinetic energy, making his attacks much faster and much more powerful.

@Turtle373

Zan stepped back from the onslaught of attacks, parrying them with his cane as quickly as he could, until one slash broke his cane in half and cut his arm. Ignoring the pain in his arm Zan threw the remaining piece of cane in his hand at Darkness, then rolled to the side, flaring pewter as he got up. But even with pewter his left leg hurt as he stood up, shifting his weight to his right leg he threw another knife at Darkness then pulled out his other cane waiting for Darkness to attack.

Whisper nodded, hunching her shoulders forward a little, the cloak that she wore hung forward, obscuring her figure a little more. She looked down at the ground, only glancing up to give quick, furtive glances at their surroundings as though nervous and began scuttling forwards through the streets.

The streets were mostly empty here, the residents had gone inside either due to the sounds of fighting or possibly due to Scadrian superstition at the mists. Whispers feet padded gently against the ground as she walked, trying to keep an eye on Kumiko as they traveled.

Kumiko walked behind Whisper. Looking around she pulled up her cloak as well, hiding her ears. After that she changed her form to that of a bat, skin turning into a leathery grey, and her ears grew pointed. She let out an ultrasonic screech, forming an image of her surroundings, looking for anything interesting, but found that the mists interfered with the sound. Annoyed she switched to cat, trying to use her night-vision to get a better idea of what was in the mists.

Darkness smelled victory as he closed in.  He would relish seeing this upstart's blood splattering over the ground.  He put away his thick fighting knives, and drew a katana.  He also pulled out his curved torture dagger.  He would make this slow.

He felt a sudden pain behind his eyes.  Part of his mind was screaming within himself.  He shook it off and attacked viciously, aiming to maime his opponent's legs with a katana.

Can someone try to snap him out of it?  I don't want to kill Zan (or Zan to kill me).

Edalb stretched out her hand holding a relevant piece of the Master Diagram.  "We are willing to offer you this piece of the Master Diagram, as well as all of our resources if you leave the Alleyverse and never return," she said, "This piece should be good for the next hundred years or so, with minor inconsistencies."

He’s intangible and doesn’t seem to get weaker the larger he gets. Yet he can still kill.

Her hair fell in her face. She didn’t push it back. There was no point. There wasn’t a solution.

More screams cut through her ears. Eve winced.

Wall against her back, concrete beneath her, wind whistling past.

Why?

Why did she get like this so easily?

Because I’m not Light. Because I’m a planner. Not a doer.

But this was a time requiring planning. Why couldn’t she even put something that simple together?

Because I prevent before. I don’t stop in the moment.

Eve pulled her knees closer against her chest.

She mentally felt in a state requiring tears. Yet none came.

Why?

Why was this time any different from the others?

Here she was, having found a family once more out of the citizens. It was being destroyed yet again. How was it any different.

Because you’re HERE, Eve. For once you aren’t arriving after the fact.

With the Doves she hadn’t been home. Same with the Yins. A year ago by the Tacets she’d been there though. In that regard it wasn’t different.

And in that time she’d frozen and fled. Just like this.

Except there’s another difference. You aren’t alone.

Light. Storming Light. Her anger at her silence dissipated. She hadn’t left Eve alone with with nothing. There was one place where she knew she had a connection because of Light’s insistence. A small one, but it existed.

The Forge.

She took one last glance at the Haunt's retreating figure then took off running again.

Daa buzzed as Ark entered the room. "You are from the Ghostbloods, correct?"

He nodded to Tena, stepping in.

Inside, he looked at Daa, cold and empirious. "Yes." Then he turned his head, walking towards the center of the room. "Deteca."

Whisper took a deep breath in, tasting the cool air around them, the faint humidity. She kept all her senses alert for anything that was approaching but kept her silhouette as small and unnoticeable as possible.

She sniffed at the air, trying to see if there was anything which might evade sight or sound and trying to pass it off as a small sniffle when she paused, looking back at Kumiko and frowning. She paused in her step for a moment before shaking herself and moving on, eyes back on the ground.

Coincidence. She thought dismissively, but kept a closer eye on her companion.

The Stranger delved deep into his labs, descending ever deeper into the scientific abyss that was his lair and playground.

He moved with speed and determination, for he had no time to dawdle. He moved with caution and precision, for one misstep down here could mean instant annihilation. He moved with a spring in his step, for he was home. He stopped briefly to inspect the mobile oven-golems, considering their applications before shaking his head and moving on. He tarried with his Killer Cassowary Convoy, scritching wattles and polishing spikes. He almost stopped by Alley M5H09900-9, but then remebereb what it had looked like last time he had been there and decided to skip that stop on the tour. Better to come back with a dimensional torque wrench and a basket of rambutans.

As he traveled deeper and deeper into the Alleys, his step became less springy and more measured. He observed the sky whales, watching them swim almost lazily through the air. Their long winglike fins were graceful, and their eyes were filled with a haunting beauty that would make any sane person weep. They were a relative success, but he still hadn't figured out a way stop the telepathic barrages that they often used for hunting. he'd lost too many assistants to treat them with anything other than caution. He innspected unspeakable horrors, checking  details across dimensions and realms.

He marveled at the Herald Beasts and the shape they were in. He analyzed titanoboa biometrics, took notes on things he wanted to adjust in the Deinosuchus containment unit. This was a wonderland of abominations, but he didn't have time to enjoy them all. He reworked old security details and containment procedures. He cataloged, diagrammed and annotated the bizarre surroundings and the occupants therein. He would return to the surface, and soon at that, but first he needed to make sure that any extreme power surges on the outside wouldn't result in some of the occupants getting free.

That would be a serious disaster.

Edahs watched silently as the group began to fight amongst themselves. It was the mist's fault, he could tell- just like he could tell that the affected individuals had had their inner demon released. He knew only too well what that felt like. His life up to now had been short, but he'd already been forced to release his dark side on several occasions.

People should just get out of my way, he thought, shaking his head. You'd think they'd know better than to pick a fight with a creature like him, given how close they lived to hemalurgic creatures who would just as soon steal your soul as ask you the time of day. The abominations weren't too nice, either. Oh well. Their loss.

Slowly and regretfully, he started edging around the Blood Fog. He had to get to Plasmacore; he didn't have time to watch this battle, however interesting it might be.

Kumiko quietly walked behind Whisper. Quickly she cycled between Cat, Bat and Dog, making sure she was using all of her special senses. A slight smile crept onto her face as she remembered how disorienting it used to be. She suddenly paused, noticing something.

Can you put in anything she's noticed Ark? Otherwise she'll just spot the Diagram/GB negotiators.

(Are both negotiating groups in the same place?)

She'd notice, using bat senses (assuming it's echolocation), that there is something around the building, a shield of sorts.

The spren continued shrieking, and the purple-red fog rushed up, surrounding Zokora and Edalb. Then they were engulfed in bloodlust.

Ok.

Kumiko stopped walking, signalling Whisper to stop as well. She looked towards the building. She let out a few additional sound pulses, narrowing her eyes as she heard the results. Switching to Cat she found that she could vaguely make out something, but she wasn't sure what.
Something covering the building, she signed. Not sure what, seems transparent. Maybe a forcefield?
She looked at Whisper. Want to take a closer look?

Zokora contacted Lusk again, wrote him a quick message.

They insist on knowledge. To reign their creatures in they want ours, the full Diagram and the DA's bindpoints. I don't think there is a possibility to negotiate in earnest.

@I think I am here.

The spren continued to shriek and she was about to cover her ears, to get away, when the fog returned. Zokora gasped when her sight changed, red dots appearing and she looked around for a victim. The spren, its shrieking was annoying and she detested it for that. They had tried, had tried to solve this witout bloodshed, but the only thing that happened, were its stupid demands, they would never be able to meet. Grinning madly she inhaled stormlight and pulled out a crystal, held it up in front of her and stared at the spren.
"Come here, little one. Come here. That crystal is for you."

Deteca's face assumed a look of diplomacy as the councilman entered, hoping this would go better than the meeting with the Dark Alley had gone. "Hello, Ark." She wondered if he held her months of spying on the Ghostbloods against her. Getting to the heart of it, she questioned, "Do you know what's causing this mist?"

Whisper looked out, straining her eyes to try and see what Kumiko was detecting but couldn't manage to make anything out.

Any gaps? She signed to Kumiko. Should look around to check.

She kept a cautious eye out on the area that Kumiko had indicated but didn't lessen her vigilance towards the rest of their surroundings, an attack could still come from any direction. She began walking a little closer, keeping the same pace as before and trying to remain inconspicuous as they moved.

Any people? She asked Kumiko as they began circling around the building.

*Checks Edalb's character bio to see what she can do*

Edalb gasped as a the fog began billowing outwards.  She scrambled back, every instinct screaming at her to get away.  Magic was unnatural, evil.  She screamed as it engulfed her and her vision was tainted red.  Then she calmed.  Slowly, she pulled a pair of cool-looking sunglasses from a pocket, and put them on.  Every sense and ability was suddenly heightened.  She felt as if she could run a mile.

Then she drew her sword and stabbed Zokora.  The Ghostblood representative was petulant, interfering in the affairs of the Diagram.  Always trying to one-up her.

Zokora was still trying to goad the spren, when Edalb stabbed her. She looked at the blade and then calmly took a step forward, off the sword. Turning around she grinned at Edalb, a mad gleam in her eyes.

"You."

She stated her voice cold and hard. Without hesitating she placed a hand on the sword, reached out for its molecules and resorted them. Moving the carbon to the sides she changed its concentration along the edge and both flat sides until it matched the one of cast iron. Steel was an interesting material. Take one iron and add three carbon and you end up with steel. Add more carbon and you ended with cast iron. Both metal, but while the carbon concentration in iron was around 2%, cast iron had up to almost 7. Because of that, it was harder than iron and significatly more brittle. Great to cast, but it broke when hit with force. The change left the core of the sword at a carbon concentration below 2%, while relatively seen, the concentration of iron was higher. Zokora smiled slyly. There was a reason you didn't use cast iron for a sword. It broke too easily.

Lusk got the message and sighed. This was why he never tried diplomacy. It might have worked in theory, perhaps if the world was some videogame where you could spare enemies and work out every problem with pacifism, but this was real life. The only time peace had solved anything was directly after the biggest war on the planet. He growled. So be it.

Unite at the rooftops. We’re infiltrating this rusting building. He sent the message to Zokora, the Guns n’ Ninjas, and the Ghostbloods already stationed at the roof as well as those in miscellaneous gatherings around PlasmaCore. He also sent all of them the coordinates to the rooftop defences.

“Prepare to infiltrate!” He yelled inside of the ship. “I want as many Marines, Ghostbloods, TUBA soldiers and Canton Members as we can fit on that roof, now!” Then, they would break into PlasmaCore, and this whole ordeal could be over.

—-

Wes crushed some more ants, looking at the message Lusk had sent him. He sent back ‘AAAEGH’ in return, to which Lusk interpreted as a battle cry against PlasmaCore.
