Damnation and Desolations (OOC thread)

Welcome to Damnation and Desolations!

This RP takes place in a twisted cosmere, where Odium and Ruin are the only shards surviving, Odium taking up a bit of Dominion, Ruin taking a bit of Autonomy.

On every surviving Cosmere planet, something reminiscent of a Desolation occurs either constantly or often.

The Cognitive Realm is become a hellish land, full of demonic spren and hemalurgic abominations.

Singers, Sleepless, and Spren serve under Odium. Siah Amians, Kandra, Koloss, and Inquisitors are members of Ruin's side. Humans are divided, dragons and any other intelligent races have been completely exterminated.

There is twelve avatars, each with a higher than normal-but not enough to ascend-concentration of the investiture of shards. Most are unknown in location or identity. The avatar of Devotion works for Odium. The Avatar of Ambition works with Ruin.

In this RP, you will choose a side, the Empire of Passions, the Releaser Collation, or the True Cosmere resistance.

• Empire of Passions will has the options of Sleepless, Spren, Singer and human characters, and will have a clear hierarchical plot.
• Releaser Collation has the options of Koloss, Siah Amians, Kandra, human, and Inquisitor characters, and will have a more freeform plot.
• True Cosmere resistance has the options of human, Singer, Kandra, and Siah Amian. It will have the most action and varied plot, and will center around trying to defeat and fall both Odium and Ruin. If it succeeds, the plot will go to destroying remnants of Empire of Passions and the Releaser Collation, then trying to fix the individual planets that survive.

Life goals: Revenge for the slaughter of his parents during a fight between Odium and Ruin.

Talents: Shardblade fighting, climbing, moving quietly, planning and strategy

Weaknesses: Slow without plate, self conscious.

Appearance: Black and red marbled skin, spirals around eyes and ears, eyepatch over left eye, carapace normal, beard full of amethyst gems

Backstory: Was raised in the Empire of Passions, but was bullied and mocked by those his age for his weakness. He joined the army, to fight with his parents. The first battle he got, he watched his parents slaughtered in an obviously uncaring move from Odium in his fight with Ruin. He survived the battle almost unscathed, but lost an eye. He ran within months, joining up with the True Cosmere resistance.

Other: An above average chef.

Life goals: To do her best to kill Ruin and/or Odium, no matter what it takes.

Talents: Excellent melee fighter with swords, axes, or spears, and an experienced natural at throwing knives. Decent skill with a bow. A very stubborn personality.

Weaknesses: Will risk herself as much as possible to save anyone she feels responsible for. Will work herself to exhaustion every day and pretend that she’s alright afterward.

Appearance: Female. Twenty years old. Six feet even tall. Slim build, wide shoulders and fairly narrow hips. Dark tan skin. Lean face, burn scar on left cheek. Short, thick red hair. Completely black eyes. Wears practical vest, trousers, and boots, along with forearm guards, a longsword over shoulder, and two knives sheathed on both thighs.

Backstory: Ria was born on Roshar to her Singer father and Scadrian human mother. Her father was killed by a Odium-serving Spren when she was two, and her mother managed to flee to Taldain, where Ria was raised among rebel soldiers. Her mother was killed in a battle with Koloss when she was sixteen, and Ria swore to do whatever it took to kill those responsible. She became a prominent soldier, known for her battle prowess and willingness to do whatever it took to kill enemies.

Other: She is a dog person, and has always wanted an axehound or dog. She has no romantic inclinations whatsoever.

Species: Kandra

Investiture: an advanced form of the Blessing of Potency.

Life goals: Free her ‘brother’ from the Releaser Coalition.  

Talents: Very good with most firearms, good at thinking on her feet, a pretty good leader. Above average with knives and at hand-to-hand.

Weaknesses: Gets angry quickly, will do anything to free her ‘brother’

Appearance: True body is that of a woman of about 25. She’s tall, well muscled, with one purple and one silver eye. Her skin has red and gold metallic implants in it, which form tattoo-like designs all over her body.

Backstory: Created 50 years ago by the Coalition as part of a new generation of Kandra, trained to lead the Coalition armies. She was trained with another Kandra, named SepLar. The two of them grew close and thought of each other as siblings. When they were finally deployed, both were deployed together and led the same army. Then, about three years ago, SepLar was taken as part of an experiment, and she never saw him again. It was at that point she turned against the Coalition and destroyed a large section of her own army before fleeing. Since then she has made contact with the resistance and joined them in their fight.

Other: She has an assault rifle and a pair of handguns, which she knows how to repair.

Investiture: Can invest others by bonding them, otherwise has a faint aura that inspires feelings of admiration.

Life goals: To find a worthy partner and aid them to climb in the ranks and serve their master.

Talents: Manipulation, communication, organization, perceptive, obedient, very fast.

Weaknesses: Physically weak, loyal to a fault, will follow her masters orders without hesitation or question.

Appearance: Black hair that falls to her waist, lavender skin, magenta eyes. 5'4" tall, thin and willowy.

Backstory: Is young and ambitious, though prefers helping others accomplish their dreams and achieve their goals. Her greatest dream is to one-day be recognized by Odium himself for her ability to support her master, whomever they end up being.

Other: Doesn't feel 'love'. may feel affection- and attachment- but not love. She finds the emotion wastes time, especially as young as she is.

(Notes: Will probably meet whomever she'll bond later on in the RP. Leave the 'VoidKnight' slot open. )

Powers: He is a sandmaster, with two spikes through his eyes to enhance his abilities and give Ruin a path into his open mind.

Skills: He is a skilled sandmaster, torturer, and combatant.

Clothes: He wears a sandmaster uniform that he has never washed, so it is covered in blood, with sand specks everywhere, and with koloss and parshendi blood scattered everywhere, with several sandmaster rank sashes tide over his shoulder, covered in the blood of their former owners.

Gear: He has a cantina that he clips to his waist, and a pair of forearm length daggers strapped to his forearms.

Build: He is tall, with a lanky build, like he was a person 6' tall, stretched to 6'9. He has shoulder length black hair, with a scar that reaches down under his left spike, and hits his chin.

Personality: He is cruel, sadistic, and loves to break things. He will do anything that Ruin tells him to do, and respects the higher ups of Releaser Coalition, while not so secretly wanting to gain equal rank as them. He will play with his enemies, if he has time.

Weaknesses: He is blind and is fanatically loyal to Ruin.

History: He was trained as a sandmaster, while also training in the use of his daggers, and hands to fight. He tortured one of his classmates a year before Ruin arrived, and then went on a killing spree. Then when Ruin arrived he immediately signed up, and had spikes put through his eyes. Then he went and killed the half dozen sandmasters that make up his makeshift sash. He has given his sandling, and became a force of destruction for ruin.

What's the current tech level? 

Or, perhaps, what is the most advanced technolagy available?

A character in the villages will be stone age.

If you are in the True Cosmere, somewhere around Way of Kings level technology, minus the fabrials.

If you are in Empire of Passions, you will have access to Era 2 Scadrial tech at low ranks.

Releaser Collation has access to almost modern tech.

Spren would probably be in the form of Voidspren. You would still be intelligent in the physical realm, but not really able to effect things. This RP will mostly take place in the Cognitive Realm, so you would have for the most part full capabilities, plus a little more, as you can be any type of Spren, getting pretty big.

I might even allow a Thunderclast, if it was a good, well thought out character.

Yes. If you were in the Empire of Passions or the Releaser Collation, that would be possible.

With a little bit of explanation, you could get that in the True Cosmere resistance as well, if you deserted.

Hmm... Any kind of spren? Are there even different kinds of Voidspren? I mean, I suppose corrupted spren might also be a possibility... If someone were to agree, could we form a VoidKnight or something? Just a thought I had... for now, I'm excited. Thank you!

This is the most flexible. I think you could do a "Voidknight". But spren must serve Odium. He uses Dominion, they cannot betray him.

Therefore, you would need a new member for the voidknight, as both are True Cosmere.

2. Wasn't planning on romance this time- friendly flirting if I'm pushed, but I don't think Mira can really get those emotions about a non-spren... maybe no one.

The current players, Dapper and Ax, have characters aligned as True Cosmere resistance. Meaning that for a Voidknight, you would need a new player to make an Empire of Passions aligned character.

If you really want, I could have a character to do it with you, but it would be more interesting if someone else did it.
