She grew up in some kind of gang, turned into a computer specialist. She can spend hours upon hours in front of a terminal, looking for a weakness to exploit.
What she doesn't know: her parents were indeed part of Trident. They died in a raid, when their ship was taken over by pirates. They had mercy for the child and took her with them, raising her as one of their own.

Jorel looked a bit unsure of himself after her speech, but it was hard to tell behind the mask.  To the kid who had just called him a terrorist he said, "I'm not exactly a terrorist.  I'm more of a bounty hunter.  You forced my hand by trying to detain me.  All I wanted was to get to the surface, but she," he pointed at Yera, "Tried to arrest me."  He looked surprised as she tipped the barrel of his gun down without fear.  "No one is expendable to themselves.  If you care about your own life, you'll order these men to stand down.  They follow your orders, and what's in your best interest.  Right now that's staying alive.  You've seen me give the order to fire upon this station, and I won't hesitate to take another life if it furthers my goals."  He hesitated for a moment, then said, "But the prospect of this job intrigues me.  If you'll pay me more than my previous employer, there'll be no hard feelings.  You know how my type works.  Grudges are for employers, I'm just a tool.  If this is a trick, believe me when I say I'll blow your head off and gladly die beside you."

she winked at the music man.

Abel was taken aback for a second, that she winked at him. Which, which was pretty nice, actually. Abel shook his head.

“Um, what exactly is that wink supposed to mean.”

He heard the order for civilians to leave but he stood his ground. If anything was going to be inspiration for his music, it would be this.

"Depends on how much your previous employers were paying. Now, we obviously won't be looking for any loyalty from a contracter, but we'll pay you one and a half times your old emlployer's price. That half will go to paying down what you owe to Trident for your ship. After you pay that off, you get your full pay."

Jorel smiled, "So you do know how mercenaries work."  He lowered the gun.  He was more valuable to them alive and working to repay this than dead or in prison now.  Still, it didn't hurt to use caution, so he kept a small explosive loaded in his mini-launcher.  "My previous employer was paying me 2,000 credits a day with 10,000 when I caught him."  He smiled, "Plus funeral costs."

“Again, are we seriously dealing with terrorists here?” He asked, then shook his head. “Or mercenaries. Same thing, whatever.” He blinked and realised that that was exactly what they were doing. He walked up to the security woman.

“Wait, so how many of your people have been ‘hired’ this way?”

“HEY I’D LIKE TO BE HIRED TOO DO I HAVE TO BE A TERRORIST TO BE HIRED I WILL GLADLY EXPLODE SOMETHING TO JOIN THIS EXPEDITION BECAUSE I AM LONELY AND I HAVE NOTHING TO DO AND I AM LONELY AND I HAVE NOTHING TO DO SO I AM VERY BORED BUT THAT DOESN’T MATTER RIGHT NOW I JUST WANT TO EAT A BLUEBERRY MUFFIN EVEN THOUGH I DON’T KNOW WHAT THAT IS WAIT NO I WANT TO JOIN THE QUEST YEAH YEAH YEAH HOW DO I DO THAT I HAVE A BOMB IF YOU NEED TO BE A TERRORIST SO YEAH HOW DO I JOIN?” K yelled at the top of his lungs. He was pretty sure you either had to be a terrorist or a boring person to join the expedition, and since he couldn’t be boring like that music dude, he decided he was going to take the terrorist approach.

Yera chuckled darkly. "Done," she said, "Go to the station quartermaster's office. If they're not to busy sorting out your mess, they'll set you up with some kind of accommodation." she then turned to the others, "A few things. First off, this guy isn't a terrorist, he's mercenary, pardon me, contractor that I've been given leave to hire. It's not entirely uncommon to use independent contracters on expeditions like this. I'll admit that the consequences are unique, though." she locked her eyes on to the yelling man. Yera already didn't like him. He looked like a conman type one might find in the Rift. "As for you, my long winded friend, you'll have to talk to the mission director if you want to join the mission. Unless you want to be part of security. In which case you talk to me or the chief."

Former conman. ;)

K straightened. “Will do, ma’am. In fact, I think I might want to join the security team. I think I have some training in that area.”

Abel paced back and forth.

He sighed. “That’s fine, but when are we going off Corislain?”

Jorel looked affronted at this.  "Listen kid," he said, "I don't follow any law other than money.  If someone pays me to be a terrorist, or do something that requires me to take a little leverage, then a terrorist I'll be.  If someone pays me to be a hero, or stop a terrorist, then a hero I'll be.  I don't blow stuff up for some religious or patriotic cause, I blow stuff up because I'm paid to.  A lot less grudges and hard feelings happen that way."

He wandered down to the quartermaster's office, and began to barter a price.  After about a half-hour of lying, cheating, threatening, and scamming, he finally got a satisfactory price.  About ten times his old one.  The discrepancy might be found out, but a deals a deal.

He sauntered back up, feeling very proud of himself, and found the briefing room again.  He mentally called his ship to the docking bay.  He addressed Yera, "Do I get to bring my own ship, or is this a one-ship thing.  What even is the expedition?"

@I think I am here.

Abel crossed his arms, listening to his songs. He shouldn’t have been caught up in all of this. Mercenaries, terrorists, gunfights. It was all inspirational, yeah, but this was just too dangerous. Slowly he brought out a notepad and began writing down song ideas. He only had a tune and a couple lines, but he was sure he could spin it into something.

“And what about people who do have a grudge? With you?” He asked, leaning against a wall.

He smiled, though the kid couldn't see it through the suit.  Sometimes the lack of emotions was annoying.  "That's there problem," he said, "And if there problem becomes my problem––" his voice became suddenly grave, "––then I'll deal with it."
