A second Royal Lineage

6 posts in this topic

When Siri is talking to Hoid about the former God-Kings of Hallendren, it's mentioned that Susebron III (I think, could have been the IV), sired a living daughter before siring the next God-King. Given that the Royal Line of Idris get their Royal Locks from the blood of Vo the First Returned, logically Susebron's daughter and all her descendants should likewise have them. And yet this is never brought up.

Does anyone know whether Brandon has commented on this? Any ideas why he might have left this out?

I couldnt find that reference anywhere in the Hoid scene, can you post it?   All I found was where Hoid said Vo's wife founded the original royal line.

I saw it too, I don't remember where.

I might just have to ask this...

The Hallendren line of God-Kings didn't have the Royal Locks in their blood (this is why Siri was so important to them). So none of those children would have the Royal Locks. Not to mention the fact that the Royal Locks only manifest in a potential heir. So the daughter would have had them, but not her children, since the Crown went in the other direction.

That's the issue though.

The "Royal Locks" are a portion of a divine passed on from. A Returned parent to a living child. If the God-Kings had had any real children, they would have gained "Royal Locks" of their own.

That's another question: Is the whole Royal Locks manifestation going to be the way it happens every time, or is that more of a one-off Mutation with with Vo and his wife, in that if some other Return had children they would manifest some /other/ expression of divine Return abilities as it's default:  variable height, mood ring eye color instead of Hair color, that sort of thing.  Even if it's all part of the same general package that can apparently be trained for different effects, I could easily see the base, reflexive expression of that lineage being different for lines founded by different Returned.

EDIT:  Had a thought on this topic recently:  Siah Aimian = Returned-born Race?  They have similar control over their physical form.  The Locks breed true to a single lineage, but then the Siah are racially immortal so their numbers wouldnt have to increase much to maintain the trait for their population.
