They’re character points. You gain character points for certain skills and Investiture and lose them for weaknesses. We use them to score characters to make sure no one is too overpowered. You can find the scoring index here.

The process goes that someone from the Alleyverse mod-team (such as me :D) scores the character and approves it if everything is dandy, or suggests ways to change it if it is above score limits or whether parts of it are missing (like weaknesses). Scoring can be done by anyone, though. Then, it gets added to the big list at the beginning of this thread).

Now, let’s see your character.

Steel Feruchemy - 50

Tin Allomancy - 35

I feel like the strengths and weaknesses of tin-savantism cancel each other out.

Total: 85 points (the limit is 150 so you’re good). Character approved :)

Thank you.

Now that i've looked at the scoring key, would it be ok to add a few things to my character?

I was thinking about changing it to this

Name: Sycra

Investiture: F-Steel (50), A-Tin (35), Tin savant.

Weakness: Is a Tin savant, and needs to constantly be burning tin to stay alive. Has an irresistible urge to find and kill anyone who he has heard killed someone else unless he deems that the killed person deserved to die. (even if he doesn't know who the person killed). (-???)

Special skills and Weapons: 4 obsidian daggers, Steel-mind piercing upper arm and wrapping around it, 5 vials of Tin. Expert Assassin (80)

Physical characteristics: Male, Skaa, black hair, brown eyes, medium build, common clothing.

Age: 17

Is that ok?

THE END IS HERE

the end of me revising this sheet ayyy

Spoiler

Name: Talas Rajost, formerly Silas Jostson and Talostr-Akuv.

Physical Characteristics

  • Heavily muscled, with incredibly broad shoulders, to the point that his size is far more of an encumbrance than an assistance outside of combat.

Investiture

  • Stormform from a gemheart and stormspren, but due to the deep connection he has with the form on an emotional and mental level, he will never change his form.

  • Gemheart, but as he will not change his form, it may as well not exist.

  • Dakhor bone growths on his right arm, grown nearly past his elbow. These enhance his strength, physical speed, and moderate resistance to physical wounds.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Hand-to-hand combat skill, expertly skilled, but his main advantage comes from his strength.

  • Prodigious musical skill with the harmonica, saxophone, piano, and the guitar.

  • Perfect pitch and an incredible singing voice.

  • An excellent chef, and also an excellent gourmand (he certainly needs to eat a ton for  strength boost).

  • Always smells faintly of citrus and ginger.

  • When he is playing any instrument, he is often guided along by the Rhythms that (right now) he can only subconsciously hear.

  • Synthetic Thrill: when in combat, the SynThrill will physically enhance Talas to the same effect as the Rosharan Thrill.

Equipment:

  • Olorun (pseudo-Shardblade, Awakened, on the same level as a normal Rosharan  Shardblade, the only difference is that it has an animalistic intelligence.) Talas will never summon him, and so he communicates (really just growls and says the odd word) directly into Talas’ mind.

  • Two Awakened bracelets, one on each wrist. These prevent Talas from using the lightning of stormform, protecting those around him.

  • Clothes. Expensive taste, change from day to day. Duh.

Weaknesses:

  • Difficulty sleeping

  • PTSD that remains from Silas, related to memories of the torture he underwent, but more recent and more harrowing are the memories of attempting to kill his family, which will often keep him up at night.

  • Pain threshold: while his tolerance for bodily harm is higher than that of others, the moment it is crossed, some unpleasant things start to happen. Often resulting in loss of life for some and loss of memory and control for Talas.

  • Synthetic Thrill: whenever Talas is in combat, the SynThrill will reduce his awareness of his actions, driving him for more and more blood.

  • Mentally unstable, and often split between the decisions Silas or Talost would make.

Family

Silas’ Family: Tena (adoptive mother), Anthony Nightshade (father-in-law, also married to Tena (fun family tree)), Pyx Roon (biological mother, deceased), Horonen Jostson (biological father, deceased), Asa and Nectar Jostson (twin daughters), and Ambrosia Jostson (wife). Extended family: Jofus Roon (mother’s brother’s son, deceased), Shor Roon (Jofus’ brother), Algernon Jostson (paternal grandfather, deceased), and all of Tena’s relatives and children.

Talost’s Family (None on this list are biologically related to Talas, but as Talost saw them as his family and still refers to them as such, they are here): Allakn-Isal (father), Ileya-Isal (mother), Yxares (effectively his uncle, regardless of the fact that he is just a giant bird) Lurakv-Ikax (brother (from this point on everyone is one of his siblings, and will thus be denoted with simply “B” or “S”), Teyra-Isal (S), Farakr-Uvit (B), Areyo-Isal (S), Yitrosk-Ipok (B), Uteir-Isal (S), Maclu-Nkey (B), Ayiti-Isal (S), Tyrepn-Pyot (B), and Eikayi-Isal (S). The other nine are all dead, and thus irrelevant.

Home Planet: Talas was born on Scadrial 29 years ago, but Talas was created on the Alleyplanet just a few months ago.

Backstory: (check the link in my About Me for the first bit of his life, pre-Era 3) Talas was created when, in a moment of severe pain, Talostr-Akuv crawled forward, begging to be healed. He was, but not in the way he expected. Silas and Talost were mentally fused, creating a brand new person. As Talas watched the ensuing fight between both of his families, he realized that if he stayed and tried to live a normal life with his family, death would be brought upon them all. He could not control himself, and there was only one person he trusted to teach him how to do so. Allakn-Isal, his father. The man who had attempted to kill each member of his family. Well, his other family. Talas had to trust the man who had tried to kill his family to help him learn to protect his family. And so he did. For the next half-year, Talas trained with his father to control his abilities, undergoing strenuous training to master his new strength, and after many months, Talas returned to the Alleycity a completed man. Almost.

Guild: As of now, Talas is unaffiliated, although some Ghostbloods may argue that he still belongs to them.

Psyche: ENTJ-T. Also mildly insane.

Personality: Talas is a somber man, but even if he is happy, he will remain visibly calm, keeping near all signs of emotion undetectable. He cares about one thing more than anything else, one thing he will not be afraid to be emotional about: his family, and more importantly, protecting them.

Appearance: Talas’ hair is black and somewhat long, often pulled into a tail or a bun, yet often left loose. His jaw is sharp yet still strong, and his cheekbones are high, but not to the point of making his cheeks look gaunt. He is about 7 and a half feet tall (~231 cm), and his shoulders are broader than many doorways. His eyes are a vibrant green, bright enough that he would be considered a lighteyes, though his eyes are neither truly light- nor darkeyed. His skin is also covered with thick black Singer-like strata, running North-east to South-west. On multiple places on his body, such as his cheekbones, calves, chest, knees, knuckles, and in Batman-like ridges along his arms, there are sharp ridges of chitin, as well as numerous plates beneath his skin. Due to the nature of his transformation, his beard grows at a far quicker rate than before, and thus, although he strives to be clean-shaven at all times, he often will have a dark 5 O’clock Shadow.

Theme Song: “Notorious” by Duran Duran

Fighting Style: Talas refuses to use any weapon besides those that are a part of him. No knives, guns, tools, Shards, anything. This also means he uses no stormform lightning. The only time he ever uses any kind of weapon is in training with his father or siblings. However, due to the natural weapons growing out of his skin, his style of fighting utilizes these blades quite devastatingly.

Hello =)

the character looks fine with the changes you made. Hereby approved.

A short warning regarding your weakness: there is a high chance that one will lead you to a player vs player conflict. Please keep in mind, that while your character can certainly attack someone else, most people around here are rather attached to their characters.

Did you change any of his abilities/ equipment as well, or "only" the backstory and the like?

And great job on the character sheet!

So here goes. After chewing over this, revising, bouncing ideas off people, chewing over it some more, and spending a week coming up with a name while making tiny minor edits and reversing them just to make them again, here's Nnimm. I hope I'm not jumping ahead on this, originally it was going in the other thread, but the only questions I have left, I think, are their total, and a question about timelines that might end up having a small effect on their age and skillset.

Name: Nnimmani'um (double consonants are long consonants, if that makes sense, and the U is somewhere between bug and plume)
Gender: genderwhat (their answer, probably also mine if you asked me)
Physical Characteristics: Varies. Their coloration is red on black. Several trails of red cascade over their shoulders, drops and streaks of it drifting over the rest of their frame. Also varies. One thing that stays semi consistent are the distinctive red markings bracketing their eyes, though their specifics vary from form to form. In workform, they are gentle, rounded loops, in warform they are sharp triangular brackets, in nimbleform they are like the precise marks of some delicate script. In dullform they are just straight lines with a faint inward curve at their bottom tips.
Investiture: Singer born disconnected, picked up some knowledge of their existence after the Everstorm but the information is full of gaps.
Skills: Good survival skill, not going to lead you unerringly through a blinding dust storm somewhere, but can find food and water, sleep safely, and navigate over unknown terrain. Experience as part of an information gathering network, which equates to spying experience. Intelligent, but this varies, not sure how we should handle that. Average hand to hand.
Equipment: two hemalurgic spikes, one stealing ferruchemical mental speed, and one stealing allomantic tin. Zinc metalminds in the form of bracers, anklets and two rings, though these last are not usually seen. Vials of tin. Somewhat hydrophobic paints which match the colors of their complexion, will come off if scrubbed but won't run in rain unless it's torrential (would someone with enhanced allomantic vision see these like a beacon? Not sure what non-technologically advanced water repellent paint entails but I think less effective ones did exist).
Weaknesses: is afraid of fire, will have debilitating flashbacks if reminded of it in the context in which their trauma happened. Isn't too afraid of candles, and is afraid of but not impaired by the presence of average firepit/fireplace sized fires. Has issues with emotional attachment, doesn't understand it in the context of their existence, and probably wouldn't recognize it unless it hit them with a metaphorical brick. An emotional allomancer could take advantage of their spikes. Is overly magically sensitive compared to others of their kind, and has greater issues not blending with forms.
Family: A father, missing, presumed dead. A mother, missing since infancy, also presumed dead. There are probably half siblings given the circumstances.
Home Planet: Roshar
Backstory: Raised on Roshar in the looming shadow of the Everstorm's arrival, their mother had been sold to make the family that owned them some money, leaving only their father and an elderly female aside from the humans, the family and servants. At ten, the manor was destroyed, the lighteyes fled, and they were picked up by a group of worldhoppers interested in experimenting on some other intelligent creature than humans.
At the arrival of the Everstorm they were caged with roughly thirty other singers, a few almost too young for experimentation, at least two far too old, showing their lack of time to set their plans in motion. A few of them died attempting to resist, a few of them were rendered chemically or magically senseless to make operating on them easier, some of them went quietly, defeated and afraid. They were treated clinically and carefully; these people were intelligent enough to understand that unnecessary cruelty only damages your intended end result. They were interested in information for information's sake--at least, that was one of their motivations. They took them off planet for the time it took to go through with their experiments, they had no intention of drawing Odium's attention. A few that proved too young or too old were spiked for the ability to grow gemhearts. Most of the others died in operations designed to add traits or abilities to them. Three others managed to survive that they knew of. They were a sensory experiment, given a spike that granted them allomantic tin as well as one that increased their mental processing power. Their father's fate was unknown, if he survived they never saw him.
They were eventually taken out, under supervision, to see the world they had been taken from. Sometimes stealthily, sometimes in disguise, they observed some of both the human and Singer armies from afar, occasionally saw Radiants in action, and once swore they'd seen one of their own using Stormlight. They were given a choice: Stay on Roshar, and fend for themselves, carving out their own path, or go with them. Go and see the universe, bound as part of a system, another purpose.
They chose the former, melting into the background, most often wearing workform. Listening and waiting, the only thing that had served them well so far. They met a few others like them--not experiments, but people lying low, unwilling to trust the too good to be true system that suddenly presented itself to their species, unwilling to trust humanity, remnants of another time and a lost people, or any combination of the above. These people taught them how to move quietly, how to disappear, how to pay attention, how to read through information and between lines.
Terrible magical conflict in one of the places a group they blended into had gone made reality thin, fragile, worn through in spots like threadbare cloth. One night, as they prepared to melt into the background again, disappear and find somewhere else to "pay attention" as they were calling it (it's accurate, just not complete), they stepped into a cooler patch, a spot where the senses gently fuzzed around the edges, where the shadows were thicker. By then, it was already too late to turn back, but they didn't know. Turning around and retracing their steps only led them deeper into the threadbare spot. One foot slipped off the ground and gently, soundlessly, they tumbled through space, through worlds, through the walls of reality made rundown by people who didnt understand just how far the ramifications of their actions extended. And finally came to rest haphazardly, lying half on their side, dazed in the cool dimness behind a nameless building in a city that exists between, outside of, maybe too far inside of, time and space. They managed to pick themselves up before anyone appeared and now wander around, looking for somewhere to go and exercising every trick they know of to fade into the background when vulnerable.
Guild: unaffiliated
Psyche: somewhat emotionally unstable, but this isn't as apparent sometimes as it would be in a human. Friendly on the surface, but doesn't open up easily. Cynical, but not often dangerously or bitterly so.
Personality: Gentle and generous, slow to anger but once angry they are the slow, cold, implacable kind of angry. Too stubborn for their own good--more dig your heels in and reinforce the perimeter stubborn than shout and puff up stubborn. Discreet and attentive. Could sometimes be perceived as callous due to their lack of experience with emotional connection.
Theme Song: tentatively Blanco White - On the Other Side
Fighting Style: They can defend themself if they need to, using a hand to hand method that utilizes quick, disabling strikes so they can get away. The fact that they're a little faster and a fair bit stronger than humans has helped, but not much in environments full of magical people.

I'll edit my notes out of this for the final version after the last bits are cleared up and it gets looked at.
Now hopefully my tags work...

It took time I have finally have finally finished the my second character sheet!

Spoiler

Name: Aurélien Lemoine (mostly here for record, he will almost never use it)

Epic Name: NullBlade

Physical Characteristics:  he is almost two meters tall has Makabaki skin colour and topaz yellow eyes, fit. He us age:35

Investiture:  he is an aluminium savant (+40) making him immune to any investiture or Epic powers directly applied on him, in particular his time speed do not get changed by allomantic time bubbles, he doesn’t cast malatium shadows and only his non-aluminium clothes and blade cast atium shadows, he cannot be leeched and shardblades hurt him like a dull blade of the same size and weight (unless they’ve somehow been sharpened, of course). Most detection power work on him, with the notable exception of steelsight -although the absence of things to see might give away his position anyway. Unlike most other teleportation powers, alleytravel and the surge transportation works on him -the latter is essentially creating a perpendicularity and shoving him through it. Like a pewterharm, he burns aluminium even while unconscious

Skills: Skilled longsword (+50) and amateur ranged (+30) combat

Equipment: He has an aluminium longsword in an aluminium sheath on his left side, an aluminium pistol with bullets half as powerful as the regular one in a holster on his right and an unbondable deadeye shardblade of relatively short side in a, aluminium back scabbard (+30). He wears an full chainmail made of aluminium, most of the time with the hood of, all other clothes are fully organic (not pushable). In order to be able to always burn he has aluminium bracers of the kind compounders use piercing through his harms

Weakness:

He rarely checks whether he is immune to the investiture of his opponent or not, except for the obvious ones like energy beams, though this have the advantage that his opponent may not know if he is immune either

He is a bit paranoid about opponents -or “allies”- tricking him into believing they don’t have any negated power just to use mind control power or the like as soon as he stops burning aluminium

There are powers you would actually prefer not being immune to, typically A-blendalloy or regrowth, especially while unconscious for the latter.

His shardblade don’t have the gemstone needed to bound it, meaning if it leaves his hands someone else can steal it

More of a limitation than a weakness but his clothes under his chainmail are not immune to investiture and a dulled blade still kills

Due to the way his team died, he reacts really badly to body horror

Family: His parents are wordhopers originating from the Alleyverse who decided to settle in France, his father was an atium Ferring and his mother a 4th oath Willshaper, both were killed shortly after he left to the Alleyverse. His wife, PerfectProphecy, is also dead. He has a sister who is still alive.

Home Planet:  Reckoners’ other Earth (the one with Invocation instead of Calamity)

Backstory:

Aurélien Lemoine started relatively normally, except for the fact that his mother’s spren helped his parent raised him and that they had took him a few times on a trip through Shadesmar to the Alleyverse. A lot of thing changed when he turned 10: his mother gave birth to his little sister, Invocation flared in the sky making his parent far more open with their powers and he snapped to aluminium allomancy.

Up from that point he started dreaming of becoming an epic to fight as one of the now real-life superheroes. His parent told him he didn’t need to wait for that to happened and decided to train him in the usage of the longsword and the shardblade, to encourage him to become an savant and that if he still wanted to be an super hero once adults, they’d give him his father’s shardblade.

At the age of 22, he then joined a newly formed team of epic under the name of NullBlade, compared to the other member of the team, he was very weak, but was appreciated by his comrades for his ability to take down mind-control and hallucination epics and by the ones who feared epics for his ability to stop his comrades, should it be needed.

The leader of this team was PerfectProphecy, an epic with powers of future sight and reality manipulation who later became his wife when they when 28, she was the only member of the team to whom he told the real nature of his powers and of the multivers. They were considering leaving the team and founding a family in the Alleycity, which NullBlade believed still to be in the fifteen years peace.

The whole team was recently died during a fight where and enemy epic made his wife lost control of her powers, the reality distortion that ensued caused the building to become full of more or less recognizable bodies, every person in the building had at least three distorted corpse of themselves in the pile of bodies -NullBlade too, all heavily distorded.

He was declared dead in the accident and decided to leave to the place he had so much wanted to show his wife, the Alleyverse

Guild: TUBA

Psyche and Personality

He is relatively cold with people he doesn't know and has remorse about not settling down with his wife when they still could

As a result of having lived with people with powers far beyond his for years, and marrying one, he doesn’t fear the powerful people.

He is really bent on having people believe he is an epic and not an allomancer,

Fighting Style: He will try as much as possible to ignore his enemy powers exist and to finish the fights quickly so his opponents don’t have time find the weaknesses of his power.

(The +40 for Aluminium savantism comes from a discussion with @Sorana about it on the previous page)

Equipment: two hemalurgic spikes (10), one stealing ferruchemical mental speed, (F-zinc 30) and one stealing allomantic tin. (A-tin 35) Zinc metalminds in the form of bracers, anklets and two rings, though these last are not usually seen. Vials of tin. Somewhat hydrophobic paints which match the colors of their complexion, will come off if scrubbed but won't run in rain unless it's torrential.

Weaknesses: is afraid of fire, will have debilitating flashbacks if reminded of it in the context in which their trauma happened. Isn't too afraid of candles, and is afraid of but not impaired by the presence of average firepit/fireplace sized fires. (-15) Has issues with emotional attachment, doesn't understand it in the context of their existence, and probably wouldn't recognize it unless it hit them with a metaphorical brick. (-5) An emotional allomancer could take advantage of their spikes (-10).

The fact that they're a little faster and a fair bit stronger than humans has helped, but not much in environments full of magical people..

Hi I thought I would try this out

Spoiler

Name: Kace

Investiture:  An Aviar (which he has dubbed "Chicken"), Second Ideal Skybreaker

Skills: He is skilled at using the surge of Gravitation, and adept with a blowpipe

Weapons: A Shardblade, which he is competent at wielding, his preferred weapon is tranquilizer darts fired from a blow pipe, seeing as how they cause no lasting harm

Weakness: Is anti-violent, and will only use it as a last resort, he has a touchier relationship with the spren he is bonded to than most radiants, he cannot use the surge of division, and there is little chance of him swearing the third ideal in the future, blind in one eye, and will do whatever it takes to achieve his goals, including things he might seriously regret later on

Physical characteristics: 5'8, bronze colored hair, black eyes, wavy blue tattoos on his arms, often wears a red coat

Family: His dad, mom and an older sister, All worldhoppers. He's currently not aware of any of their locations

Home: Grew up in Alethkar, at age 15 he left, and traveled the cosmere for a number of years, he's never returned to his childhood home

History: At age 7 a border dispute led to a battle between Highprince Hatham's troops and Highprince Thanadal's troops which was fought in in and around his village, partially destroying it. This left him with a dislike of Alethi Highprinces and his strong views on anti-violence. At the age of 15 he joined the family business, worldhopping. After traveling the Cosmere for a while, he returned to Roshar and bonded with a highspren. On a visit to First of Sun he acquired a magic chicken (Aviar).

Guild: Currently unaffiliated, plans on joining or creating one

Personality: Friendly, quick to apologize, does his best to avoid confrontation, though will do whatever it takes to achieve his goals. Follows the law to the letter but won't hesitate to exploit loopholes if they benefit him. Always hungry. Loves muffins. Takes wild risks believing that his death has been decided and he can't avoid it

Theme Song: The muffin song

Fighting Style: Goes out of his way to avoid fights, if he has to he will try to incapacitate his enemy with his blowpipe. If it is necessary to kill he will try to knock out his opponent then finish them off while they're sleeping. Without his blowpipe he relies heavily on the surge of gravitation, disorienting, and confusing the enemy while looking for an weakness to exploit.

I'm not quite sure how this rating system works. Could somebody rate do this?

It took time I have finally have finally finished the my second character sheet!

  Hide contents

(The +40 for Aluminium savantism comes from a discussion with @Sorana about it on the previous page)

@Voidus @Sorana @I think I am here.

Sorry for the late reply. Character is aprroved.

Character is approved. Please tell me if, you need a detailed rating, then I will add it. Basically you need to spend points on the 2nd idea Skybreaker, the aviar (I suppose a 'normal' one?) and the weapon skill (blowpipe) and some will be substracted for the blindness of one eye, and that he can't use the surge of division. He will end up around a little over 100.

Quick question, how does a 2nd oath Skybreaker wield a Shardblade? I thought they got their blades on the 3rd oath?

I think there would need to be a good reason any Radiant has a dead Blade, seeing the reactions of most characters on Roshar's reaction. Perhaps at one point he was a Third Ideal Radiant, then broke his oaths and is now keeping up to the second oath again?

Edit: Perhaps he swore to follow someone or some code, realized that it was corrupt, and has trust issues with magically binding himself to something again?

Um... ok... I'd like to join?

Name: Zephyr

Physical Characteristics: Small eighteen year old girl, with long curly hair such a pale brown it's almost white, blue-violet eyes.

Investiture: Coinshot, Steelrunner

Skills: Can play flute, is an acrobat. Makes a living as a street performer.

Equipment: A pair of daggers, wooden flute, 50 muffin pack to-go

Weakness: Cannot resist the allure of muffins no matter what, addicted to danger and sugar. Turns into a useless blob if daily sugar requirement is not met.

Family: Was orphaned at a very young age. No known family members.

Home Planet: Prefers to wander, but native to Scadrial.

Backstory: Left her orphanage at age six. Worked as an informant for the police using somewhat illegal methods to gather evidence (like for example breaking and entering, and stealing all the baked goods in the house). Got bored and started working as a stunts person at age fifteen.

Guild: As of yet unaffiliated, but open to options.

Psyche: Spunky and bright, but occasionally goes into a sugar zombie mode in which nothing but sugar holds value.

Personality: Friendly and warm, and an absolutely loyal friend, unless it's you or the muffins.

Fighting Style: Refuses to fight unless snacks are provided, but will generally attack with exaggerated moves and flair. Hazard of her profession. However, it does mean she is rather unpredictable.

Nice to have you! If you haven't done so yet, I suggest checking out the character creation guides at the first page, including the Index, and the explanation of how the points system works for a character's Investure and skills.

As an aside, I'm not sure how laws regarding this would work on Scandrial, but working for the police as an informant that uses illegal methods to obtain evidence (especially if it is to circumvent laws preventing the police from doing so) is considered highly illegal in the real world, and would lead to a lot of sanctions and lost cases (for the persecutors), since you're deliberately using someone to circumvent laws that prevent you from doing what you're hiring them to do.
