Nicrosil Compounding

Fullborn

Recommended Posts

Spoiler

So let’s say in era 2 you find a nicrosil compounder. You give them a medallion that gives them a minute of pewter Allomancy. Then they store that in one of their nicrosil minds. Burn it, compound it, store it. You now have ten minutes of pewter Allomancy. Rinse and repeat until you have enough for almost constant use. Now you swap out your medallion and repeat for all other metals. You now have the ability to use any metal. Even if you need to store identity to use this, as you can still use one medallion, that should be fine.

so are era 2 fullborn easily made or am I missing something. I haven't actually thought about it that much, but you might not even need compounding.

Bands of mourning spoilers ^^

I've talked about this before but a nicrosil Ferring with access to medallions could do this if they get a nicrosil Allomancy medallion. They wouldn't even need to store identity as the things they store would be keyed to them.

But... Per VenDell, Feruchemists of the spiritual metals are rare. compounders are super rare. Specific combinations of Twinborn don't happen often, as Khriss explains to Wax. He is the third known Crasher in history. Which means the chances of a natural nicrosil compounder are ridiculously low.

And hemalurgy isn't well known either. If not for Spook's book, or outside knowledge it would have been forgotten as Sazed put no information about it in the Words of Founding.

So while, with knowledge, you could effectively become a Fullborn easily, in practice no one has that knowledge.

One would arguably be enough for a trilogy though...

Yes but the set knows about Hemalurgy. They’ve got access to Trellium so they can grant one power at a time. Now while a nicrosil compounder may be rare, a Nicroburst should be relatively easy to find, as we know they have leechers in the contabulary, so microbursts should be pretty similar in rarity. Then you only need to spike one soulbearer, do what was mentioned above, boom, fullborn

Some mentioned before, that it the Nicrosil Feruchemy (specially with compounding) might be a "problem", as it to easily grants access to being a Fullborn.

Especially considering, what Fullborn said before, when using Hemalurgy, only 2 spikes are required if you have nothing when you start, and you're there.

But don't forget: You need a Medailon / Metalmind with all the abilities stored. We don't even know exactly how Medailons are made, and neither do the Northern Scadrians. And even the Southerns can't do it, as they said the best they've achieved is one that grants 3 or 4 powers at once, which is far away from 32. How the Bands are made, so there are no interactions, is still unclear.

So I wouldn't be worried that the Fullborn Status is now to easy achieved. In theory it is maybe easy. But remember, in theory, it's also easily achievable to collect Breaths to get on God King level, you only gotta convince some thousand people to give you their breath. It's accessable for averyone. But in reality? Still a big challenge.

You misunderstand.

If a nicrosil compounder holds any medallion that grants any power, they can store that power for a moment, and then burn that to make their own storage keyed to them.

In the upcoming era of comodified powers via medallions, a nicrosil compounder, or even a Ferring if it can find a nicroburst medallion, needs only hold each individual power for a few seconds in order to gain that power permanently.

They wouldn't gain them all at the in the same moment, but eventually as long as they have nicrosil for personal storage, they can make their own Bands, keyed to them.

It's a perfectly valid concern.

Perhaps this is how there’s gonna be “mistborn” in Era 3...

By definition, that would probably count.

Quote

leinton (paraphrased)

Would a person who had enough spikes to have all the Allomantic powers would be considered a Mistborn?

Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased)

They probably would be called a Mistborn.
