stockto2
Hey all! New here, I'm Andrew. So I'm a 3D printing enthusiast. Recently I ordered a full-color print of a character I designed, to see how it would turn out. Here it is: I need to play with the colors and shading a bit, but all in all I'm pleased with it! It's gotten me thinking: I'm an app designer. (I made the web app that created this character. Search for DesktopHero and you'll find it.) I'm also a big Way of Kings fan. I'd love to combine the two things. If I were to make an app that let you customize your own totally unique Shardbearer statuette, picking gender, pose, colors, armor, sword, (race?), etc. is that something you'd be interested in? If there is interest, I'll probably run a Kickstarter campaign to fund development, and partner with Shapeways to do the physical printing. I'd also be interested in hearing what ideas you have to make it cooler. To get started, I've thought about adding: - Different printable materials (plastic, colored sandstone, metal) - Draw your own shardblade, I turn it into a 3D model for your figurine - Give the statuette your own face (color prints)
Shadowmancer
I think it's bomb! One thing you could add is glyphs on the cape or something. You could throw in some Ryshadium for them to ride, too.
Nathrangking
It does sound very interesting. As an option you could allow for mixing and matching of segments of blades recorded in the books.

Maybe also make it so you can draw your own. Glyphs could go on capes, breastplates, maybe standards as well. 21 minutes ago, Nathrangking said: It does sound very interesting. As, in, blade A looks like flames, blade B has a v-shaped crossguard, put them together to create a unique sword? That kind of thing?

Tesh
That would be awesome! I personally don't have a 3D printer, but I'd still like to see something like this happen.
Sami
@stockto2 woah..... that's actually incredible. I'm tempted to make use of my library's 3D printer Edited March 9, 2018 by Sami

Although for this app you wouldn't need a printer - I would handle the 3D printing and ship the physical figurines.
Mistspren
One more vote for shardbearer statues. That’s a great idea.
Ookla the Absent
Way cool. Personally, I'd also suggest having the option to have it printed monochrome, probably grey, so that you could paint it yourself for those into painting miniatures.
