Celtic mythological influences on Aether.

Did anyone else notice Celtic mythological influences in Aether?  Maybe it was just me, but I immediately associated the Former with the Formorians.  He spawned children who went by Slaughter and Dispair much as the Formarians were the personification of famine, drought, chaos, death etc.  They fought against the first men, and half breeds while in AoN their own creations (the aethers) were used against them.  

Meh, it is probably that I read a Celtic mythology book just before rereading it now.
