Hah, does that mean I technically win after all? And we almost pulled it off, I think. Unfortunately Seonid was exposed and his kill couldn't go through. Or maybe fortunately? I dunno. The village would have had a good chance if we'd found someone earlier, maybe, but once that many villagers were dead and we only had the one lucky lead, it was a long shot at best.

Here's a song parody I've been working on. I would have posted it sooner, but it would have outed me.

Spoiler

D1 Lynch: Parody of Uptown Funk

By Elenion

Throw down your poke-votes

And find us some scapegoats

This one for the Crusade

The Crusade - participation!

Scannin’, votin’, lynchin’ ‘em up this cycle

Gonna hop right on that bandwagon

Or vote myself, it’s so crazy

<chorus>

My vote’s down (vote down)

And you don’t get no lawyer, man.

My vote’s down (vote down)

Is someone vouchin’ for ya, man?

My vote’s down (vote down)

I bandwagon, that’s who I am

My vote’s down (vote down)

And you’re bad in my gut reads, break it down

Votes hit ya, how does that feel? (whoo)

Votes hit ya, how does that feel? (whoo)

Votes hit ya, how does that feel? (whoo)

This D1 lynch gon' give it to you

This D1 lynch gon' give it to you

This D1 lynch gon' give it to you

The votes are down and time is up,

You can trust me, I’m good! (c’mon)

You can trust me, I’m good! uh

You can trust me, I’m good!

You can trust me, I’m good!

You can trust me, I’m good!

You can trust me, I’m good!

Hey, hey, hey, oh

</chorus>

Stop, think a minute

Plan it out, put some logic in it

Actions in, votes are down

Coolio, we’re ahead!

Scan’s in, kill’s in

Now we are just waitin’

Suspicions faked, we execute

Smoother than it’s blind datin’

CHORUS

And now you see how,

With just a bit o’ planning:

D1, lynch ‘em up (repeated)

Bandwagons, jump on ‘em

Suspicions? I got ‘em

If you suspect, then vote ‘em

You’re paranoid; that’s normal

Bandwagons, jump on ‘em

Suspicions? I got ‘em

If you suspect, then vote ‘em

The votes are down and time is up,

You can trust me, I’m good!

You can trust me, I’m good!

You can trust me, I’m good!

You can trust me, I’m good!

You can trust me, I’m good!

You can trust me, I’m good!

Hey, hey, hey, oh

D1, lynch ‘em up! (repeated)

I've decided to group this based on the actions present in the game.

D-Fence:

Let me be clear on this one. The town's defense was never supposed to fail. The Lines of Warding were meant as a stop gap to prevent the Villagers from having freedom of actions. However, there needed to be a serious threat to make sure the camp defended. Originally this was an unblockable kill, in addition to the normal one the Forgotten have. When I did the remake, I made it into a conversion, as a huge threat to the village. I consider changing this back when I posted sign-ups, and again when I posted the change to Lines of Silencing. I kept it as a conversion as I felt it was unfair to change it that late into sign-ups.

So, I now had a very visible threat, but it was a bit too dangerous. I didn't want to give the town a visible advantage, as that would lead to them not taking the threat seriously, so I gave them a secret advantage. I made 4 villagers Sentries. That, plus the 2 Non-Rithmatists present in the game, could give the town an extra 4 defense, making it much more likely the town would be safe. I also made the default action Warding, so the town wouldn't be screwed by inactive players. I even included a safety valve in the Acid-Specialist, in case something went wrong. However, I made the town's defense secret. That way, the town would always be paranoid about if they were safe enough, regardless of the number of Forgotten alive. Thus, it was a visible threat, but it had a secret remedy.

This gets at why I had 4 Forgotten in this game. I wasn't planning on that. In the original game, with 15 people and 4 Forgotten, the Forgotten lost a member Day 1, and yet still came out on top. This is also with only an extra kill, not a conversion. I knew I didn't want 4 Forgotten again, especially when there were only 16 people signed-up. And then 2 more people signed-up at the last minute. Considering the number of Sentries, if the Forgotten had bad luck at the beginning, then there was no way they would be able to get a conversion. It wouldn't be a threat if just one person could easily block the action. I had hoped to have 20 people before I added in a fourth Forgotten, but I pulled the trigger at 18. In retrospect, that might have been a mistake, but I don't regret that decision.

It's getting kind of late for me, so I'll post the rest of these later.

ELEEENIOOOOOOOOOONNN!!!!!!

*ahem*

Anyway, now that I've gotten that out of the way, I'd like to say well played tot he elim team, and great attempt to the village squad. I also now know a bit about what @TheMightyLopen felt like in LG30, when the provided logic proved him right beyond reasonable doubt, and yet the village went against him anyway (in this case, the village being HH).

I was thinking it was pretty similar too. >>

Good game Forgotten. You caught some lucky breaks, like me randomly giving Frozen Mint the Assassin ability and Joe blocking Seonid's attack, but you also made the right calls at the end to take out mine and Brightness' protection. So kudos for that. And also, good work by Frozen Mint, since she was basically never under suspicion the entire game until the very end when it didn't make a difference.

Village, just lynch Joe next time, 'kay? :P

I also thought my sis, Brightness Radiant, played pretty well for her first game. We almost had 'em! It was fun being confirmed village roles together, though it took away some of the mystery of whether one of us might be fooling the other, since we roleclaimed to each other pretty early(she was worried Len was gonna kill her because she told him she was an Acid-Specialist, so she told me).

Thanks for the game Sart! It was a lot of fun. Although I did say I thought it was balanced in the Forgotten's favor in the dead doc, I don't think it was unfairly so. We had our chances, and we've no one to blame but Amanourselves.

Yeah...Okay. I did say one of the people who suggested the plans would be evil and, oh, look! There's Len.

Regardless, it was fun. Pretty much every SE game is. :D

Dang it. Good game, everyone! Technically, I survived to the end of the game, which is a first!

Yeah, I really wish I'd reached out to you to try to convince you (not that there's any guarantee it would have worked), but I was convinced you must be an Elim.  By Seonid, I think, and Rand, so it wasn't the Elims misleading us there.  I really didn't think Len and Joe were Elims.

I wish we'd caught him two or three cycles earlier!  Maybe we could have actually lynched him.

Good game, everyone! I told Jon this in the PM I made with him, but the elims were honestly concerned with how the village would act this last night, For a while we believed that Joe had been figured out and the villagers were feeding him wrong information, but thankfully they believed he was good :] I really wish we could have converted HH in the end, since he was the only villager who took the "right" side, but I'm perfectly happy with Jon joining us for ironies sake. There's a lot more I could say about this game, but I think I mentioned everything fun / important in the elim doc, anyway.

For the record, I decided to keep up the lies until the very end mostly for practice's sake. I will not be surprised if I end up evil in the Championship qualifier.

Speaking of, for anyone who wants to spectate, message me on Discord! There's going to be a discord chat for people who are watching the game, and like me playing, it would be a great opportunity for everyone to meet new people.

Yeah, I've discovered this game that I'm way too easy to sway if someone comes up with sensible plans. Elenion with his coin-flipping scheme, and Joe suggested in my PM with him that I protect Jondesu, which again made sense. As long as I keep learning about new weak points, I can keep getting better, of course.

Like I said after we killed you, I really wish we could have gone for someone else. In retrospect, leaving you alive wouldn't have been a problem, but we were concerned about you telling people Lopen gave Mint the assassination specialization.

I'm glad you'll be sticking around for another game! We could definitely use more consistent players. I hope we both end up village next time, so I won't feel like I have to step on eggshells around you.

  • 1 month later...

Another game has come and gone.  Once again Sart has run his wonderfully entertaining game and I'm sure we all enjoyed his write ups, I know I did.

Congratulations Forgotten.  The Chalklings have once more overrun Nebrask and threaten to consume the world.  Hopefully we can save everyone next time.  (hint, hint)

If anyone would like to try their hand at running a game, please get a hold of GammaWilson, Metacognition or myself. Not only will we get you added to the list, but we'd also be more than willing to help out in any way we can.

You can also ask questions and get some hints and feedback from everyone over here in our
Art of Game Creation thread as well. With all the games that we've run so far, we have plenty of experienced GMs that can help you refine any game you're thinking about!

If you would like to play,
L35: Miserables and QF24: Eliminating Elysium are open for sign ups but will be closing soon so sign up and start killing your fellow Sharders.

Thanks again to everyone that played and we look forward to killing seeing you in future games!
