I know it's been a long time, and this has very few changes, but I just finished my OB reread and it struck me.

Basically no spoilers:

Spoiler

"Dear Little Jasnah" to the tune of "Dear Theodosia" from Hamilton

[Gavilar] Dear Little Jasnah, what to say to you?
You are so wise
You have your mother's brain

When you came into the world, you cried and it broke my heart

I'm dedicating every day to you
Domestic life was never quite my style
When you smile, you knock me out, I fall apart
And I thought I was so smart

You will come of age with our young nation
We'll bleed and fight for you, we'll make it right for you
If we lay a strong enough foundation
We'll pass it on to you, we'll give the world to you
And you'll blow us all away
Someday, someday
Yeah, you'll blow us all away
Someday, someday

[Dalinar] Adolin, when you smile I am undone
My son
Look at my son
Pride is not the word I'm looking for

There is so much more inside me now
Adolin, you outshine the morning sun
My son
When you smile, I fall in love
And I thought I was so tough

[Both] My father wasn't around (x2)

I swear that I'll be around for you

[Dalinar] I'll do whatever it takes

[Gavilar] I'll make a million mistakes

[Both] I'll make the world safe and sound for you
Will come of age with our young nation
We'll bleed and fight for you, we'll make it right for you

If we lay a strong enough foundation
We'll pass it on to you, we'll give the world to you
And you'll blow us all away
Someday, someday
Yeah, you'll blow us all away
Someday, someday

Oh my gosh, this is a genius idea and all of these are amazing. Here are a few ideas for those with the gift of poetry lool. I haven't read through this whole thing so apologies if they've already been mentioned. Once again, I'm loving all these parodies and I'm trying to think up one of my own, but for now here are my ideas:

Seize The Day from Newsies, sung by Bridge Four; Speechless from Aladdin, sung by Jasnah or Shallan; Waving Through A Window from Dear Evan Hansen, sung by Renarin.

Here we have another with minimal changes:

"Fortunate Son" as sung by Moash (circa WoK/WoR), to the tune of the song of the same name by Creedence Clearwater Revival (Miniscule WoR spoilers):

Spoiler

Some folks are born, made to wave the flag
Ooh, their gold and their blue
And when the band plays odes to the king
Ooh, they point the shardblade at you, Lord

It ain't me
It ain't me
I ain't no highprince's son, son
It ain't me
It ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no

Some folks are born, silver spoon in hand
Lord, don't they help themselves, y'all
But when the darkeyes move in next door
Lord, they’re removin’ them without fail, yeah

It ain't me
It ain't me
I ain't no rich brightlord's son, no, no
It ain't me
It ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no

Yeah, yeah
Some folks inherit shardplate and eyes
Ooh, they send you down to war, Lord
And when you ask 'em, "How much should we give?"
Ooh, they only answer "More! More! More!", Y'all

It ain't me
It ain't me
I ain't no military son, son
It ain't me
It ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, one
It ain't me
It ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no, no, no
It ain't me
It ain't me
I ain't no fortunate son, no, no, no

This song takes place between WoR and OB, so major WoR spoilers:

Spoiler

Here is a song about a pair of upper-nahn darkeyed newlyweds named Simon and Kathy (which sound enough like darkeyed Alethi names that I didn't feel the need to change them), originally from the Princedom of Aladar, who have been living on the shattered plains (where they met) for the past several years, but are now making the journey to Urithiru.

"Urithiru" (to the tune of "America" by Simon & Garfunkel)

Let us be lovers
We'll marry our fortunes together
I've got some spheres of light
Here in my bag

So we bought a sheaf of new glyphwards
And some chouta, too
And walked off
To look for Urithiru
"Kathy", I said
As we boarded a coach from the warcamps
Alethkar seems like a dream to me now

It took me four months
To get here from Aladar
"I've come to look for Urithiru"

Laughing on the trip
Playing games with the faces
She said the girl in the chullherders’ camp
Was a spy

I said, "Be careful
Her hairpin is really a spanreed"
"Toss me a new glyphward
I think there's one in my stormcoat"
We burned the last one

So I looked at the scenery
She read her magazine
And the moons rose over a broken field
"Kathy, I'm lost", I said
Though I knew she was sleeping
"I'm empty and aching and
I don't know why"

Counting the chulls
On the newly built bridges
They've all come
To look for Urithiru
All come to look for Urithiru
All come to look for Urithiru

Ok, to give credit where credit is due, the idea for this one came from @Okdes's joke on the Sanderson Memes thread (page 96):

After I read that, I had Berlin's "Take my Breath Away" from the top gun soundtrack rolling around in my head. My initial idea was to make a full soundtrack for the movie "Top Sword" starring Nightblood as Maverick and possibly Szeth as Goose and Nale as Iceman.

But in looking more at the lyrics, this is the song that had to be. I humbly present to you, for your possible amusement, Lightsong the Bold singing "Take My Breath Away" (warning this has major spoilers for Warbreaker):

  Hide contents

Take My Breath Away (Sung by Lightsong to the tune of the "Take My Breath Away" by Berlin)

Ignoring every motion
in this foolish Tarachin game
In Hall'dren by the ocean,
Immortal yet I have no aim
Turning and Returning
From the life I lived and died
Living in slow motion
'Til the day at last I say

Take my breath away
Take my breath away

Watching I keep waiting
Staring at the painted forms
Always hesitating
To become a useful God
Turning and Returning
To the secret trapped inside
Haunted by the notion
That some day I'll have to say

Take my breath away
Take my breath away

Through the iron bars I saw you
As Blushweaver bled away
Susebron my king I called you–
You turned to hear me say
Today must be the day
I am unafraid

Take my breath away
Take my breath away

With my final motion
I helped end Blue-finger's game
Peace found in the notion
That the world won't end in flames
Turning and Returning
To some peaceful place beyond
Peace found in the notion
That I turned your way to say

Take my breath away
Take my breath away

Different take on the same song:

Spoiler

Hey, that guy looks evil!
Don't you think he's sinister?
And that woman he's with,
they're both quite bad, him and her!
I want to destroy them,
but I go unused each day,
waiting for the moment
when you pull me out and say,

Take my Breaths away!
Take my Breaths away!

It's can be quite fun when
you throw me into a room.
Someone tries to draw me,
then the place becomes a tomb.
But it's never satis-
fying in quite the same way
as when you grasp my hilt
and fully pull me out and say,

Take my Breaths away!
Take my Breaths away!

Hey! That guy, I know him,
look, it's VaraTreledees!
He is such a good friend,
can we go talk with him please?
Wait, what is he doing?
Attacked you then threw me away!
Now I need to find some-
body who'll draw me and say,

Take my Breaths away!
Take my Breaths away!

We destroyed the evil,
you know I'm quite good at that!
Then we went to visit
a land that's all stones and flat.
Now I have a wielder
who talks with me every day!
He calls me "sword-nimi,"
but he never seems to say,

Take my Breaths away!
Take my Breaths away!

(Spoilers for Warbreaker and Oathbringer.)

I posted this in the RoW spoiler area:

It only has spoilers for the Prologue, so if you have read that you are clear (though I can't vouch for anything else that might end up in that thread).

There's this song from a Tangled show that has major Elhokar vibes. I literally only have to change one word in the whole song and it's perfect. Every time I hear the song I just think about him in Oathbringer and his whole character arc.

Spoiler
Maybe I make things a mess
And maybe you're right to have doubts in me
Maybe, but nevertheless
If you for once could just trust me
Just this once, let me come through for you
The way that you want me to

Let me make you proud
Let me show you the best in me
Let me give you a reason to believe
That I can stand tall
And when I return
And I'm more than you dreamt I'd be
Maybe then you will realize that you never actually knew me at all

Sure, I've made lots of mistakes
I know that I've disappointed you
Still, though, whatever it takes
I'm gonna fix it, just watch me
Just you wait, I'll make it up to you
If it's the last thing I'll ever do

I will make you proud
I will make you have faith in me
I will prove that the way I used to be is all in the past
I will save the day
And come back here triumphantly
'Cause I long for that look of surprise when you see your king rising at last
The pride in your eyes when you see your king rising at last

 - I just changed the word "son" into "king" because it fits more. The song is called "Let Me Make You Proud" and it always makes me think of him going to Kholinar and trying to prove himself.

This song gives me huge Kaladin and Syl vibes:

(Said vibes are strengthened by the events in RoW, but the song certainly does not spoil them.)

Spoiler

The Final Countdown (Listeners and Fused Perspective)

You're living together
But it's not fair, well
But maybe they'll come back
To Roshar, who can tell?
Maybe there'll be Venli to blame
If they're coming to bound,
Will things ever be the same again?

It's the final countdown
The final countdown

Ohh
We're heading for Roshar and still we stand tall
'Cause maybe they've seen us and welcome us all, yea
With a new desolation to go, fabrials to be found
(To be found)
I'm sure that we've all passion somehow

It's the final countdown
The final countdown
The final countdown
(The final countdown)
Ohh ho ohh

The final countdown, oh ho
It's the final countdown
The final countdown
The final countdown
(The final countdown)

Ohh
It was the final countdown
We were living together
The final countdown
And so much passion to show
It was the final countdown
(The final countdown)
Ohh, it was the final countdown
Yea

Just found this thread and I think it's hillarious. Had to do one on my own (didn't read all, so maybe someone already did something similar, but it was just fun).

Since I am new, I am not sure about the spoilertag I am using, probably RoW, but really, really minor.

Indeed it does. Here you go:

Spoiler

[Sadeas]

Why do we run the bridge, my soldiers, my soldiers

Why do we run the bridge?

[Bridgemen]

Why do we run the bridge?

We run the bridge to victory

That’s why we run the bridge

We run the bridge to victory

[Sadeas]

How does the bridge bring victory, my soldiers, my soldiers

How does the bridge bring victory?

[Bridgemen]

How does the bridge bring victory?

Our brightlords fight the enemy

And we run the bridge to victory

That’s why we run the bridge

We run the bridge to victory

[Sadeas]

Who do we call the enemy, my soldiers, my soldiers

Who do we call the enemy?

[Bridgemen]

Who do we call the enemy?

The enemy’s the Parshendi

And our brightlords fight the enemy

And we run the bridge to victory

That’s why we run the bridge

We run the bridge to victory

[Sadeas]

Because they killed King Gavilar, my soldiers, my soldiers

Because they drew us into war

[Bridgemen]

Because they killed King Gavilar

Because they drew us into war

The enemy’s the Parshendi

And our brightlords fight the enemy

And we run the bridge to victory

That’s why we run the bridge

We run the bridge to victory

[Sadeas]

Why should you die for our king, my soldiers, my soldiers

Why should you die for our king

[Bridgemen]

Why should we die for our king?

It is what Alethi do

We are soldiers strong and true

[Sadeas]

And your work is never done, my soldiers, my soldiers

And your war is never won

[Bridgemen]

The enemy’s the Parshendi

And our brightlords fight the enemy

And we run the bridge to victory

That’s why we run the bridge

We run the bridge to victory

We run the bridge to victory

Figured as Hades plays off affection for his workers (my children), Sadeas plays off their Alethi pride (my soldiers). I know not all of them are Alethi, but it works with the rhyme scheme. Enjoy!

To the tune of "Survivor" by Destiny's Child.... the Kesier edition! If you are like me, you probably need to play the actual song and think/say/sing the lyrics below to see how it fits

(Warning, spoilers for all things Kelsier and Cosmere...Enjoy!)

Spoiler

Now that Mare's out of my life, I'm super bitter

You thought that I'd be weak without her, but I'm stronger

This Allomantic Snap has got me feeling power

I've got a brand new plan, I'm gonna be a martyr

You thought I wouldn't grow without her, now I'm wiser

I'm learning crazy secrets about the wider Cosmere

You that I'd be broken, hiding, but I'm chillin'

I'm taking all your a-ti-um and making millions

I'm The Survivor, I'm not gon' give up

I'm not gon' stop (what), I'm gon' work harder

I'll kill the Lord Ruler, with my new crew yeah

I will survive (what), keep on survivin'

I'm The Survivor, I'm not gon' give up

I'm not gon' stop (what), I'm gon' work harder

Start a rebellion, start a religion

I might be dead but, I'll keep on survivin'

You thought I couldn't breathe after death, I'm inhalin'

You thought I couldn't see but I've been omnipresent

Who thought I wouldn't last, just look, I'm really livin'

I'm sending all the Ghost Bloods out to do my biddin'

There's no way I could fail, just look at me I'm on top

I haven't found out how to leave, but I won't stop

Thaidakar won't self-destruct, yeah I'm still here

The Lord of Scars in Era 4, I'm still gon' be here

I'm The Survivor, I'm not gon' give up

I'm not gon' stop (what), I'm gon' work harder

I'm The Survivor, I'm gonna make it

To other realms (what), and keep on survivin'

I'm The Survivor, I'm not gon' give up

I'm not gon' stop (what), I'm gon' work harder

Finding new secrets, building my power

I will survive (what), keep on survivin'

Sca-dri-als are best

They pray to my image

 But I confess, I'm pressed,

To just escape from this (I'm better than that)

I'm not gon' stay here in the place I know (I'm better than that)

Won't just send avatars to visit realms I hope (I'm better than that)

I'm not gon' waste my time on Harmony's designs (I'm better than that)

I'm not gon' compromise on what I've got in mind (I'm better than that)

Not gon' to the Beyond, like everyone I've met

'Cause I just know that I'm better than that

I'm The Survivor, I'm not gon' give up

I'm not gon' stop (what), I'm gon' work harder

I'm The Survivor, I'm gonna make it

To other realms (what), and keep on survivin'

I'm The Survivor, I'm not gon' give up

I'm not gon' stop (what), I'm gon' work harder

Finding new secrets, building my power

I will survive (what), keep on survivin'

Oh (oh) Oh (oh)

Oh (oh) Oh (oh)

Oh, woah (oh, woah), oh, woah (oh, woah)

Oh, woah (oh, woah), oh, woah, woah

After all of the questions and secrets

Soon comes full knowledge

If I surround myself with powerful things

I'll gain prosperity

I'm The Survivor, I'm not gon' give up

I'm not gon' stop (what), I'm gon' work harder

I'm The Survivor, I'm gonna make it

To other realms (what), and keep on survivin'

I'm The Survivor, I'm not gon' give up

I'm not gon' stop (what), I'm gon' work harder

Finding new secrets, building my power

I will survive (what), keep on survivin'

I'm The Survivor, I'm not gon' give up

I'm not gon' stop (what), I'm gon' work harder

I'm The Survivor, I'm gonna make it

To other realms (what), and keep on survivin'

I'm The Survivor, I'm not gon' give up

I'm not gon' stop (what), I'm gon' work harder

Finding new secrets, building my power

I will survive (what), keep on survivin'
