A World Without Vin

Housekeeping

72 hour cycles. Ties result in blah blah blah. This game is role madness. There are secret roles. Not every role will be in the game.

The Nobles are attempting to kill all of the Skaa and keep Preservation alive.
Rebel Skaa goal is to equal to or outnumber the villagers.
They have a group doc together and a group kill (excluding Kelsier).

Ruin is a single player who is trying to kill Preservation’s Vessel and the rebel skaa.

Alignment Roles

Ruin is a single player with the ability to create PMs (single cycle, free action), spy on PMs (only those of the person targeted, not the person they’re responding to), and make a kill.

Kelsier is the leader of the Rebel Skaa. He may use each Misting power once, or he may use the use of that power to attempt to convert a Part Skaa to his team. He may not do both. He also has two charges of Atium, which may be used to discover roles.

Preservation is a Noble role who can roleblock a player for a cycle (including roleblocking PM-making for the next turn) or give a random Allomantic or Feruchemical role to a player for a cycle. Preservation cannot die to either the lynch or the eliminator kill.

Special Roles

These roles can and will occur simultaneously with other roles.

Part Skaa: if Kelsier targets a skaa-blooded player with his conversion ability, that player will be converted.

Metallurgist: can give two people a vial of metal each cycle. You must specify which vial is wanted. Vials can be passed between players. This role is not given to Mistings.

Kandra: can make two PMs between yourself and one other person each cycle. PMs only last one cycle from when made. (You do not have to send an order in to make the PM.)

Roles

The Lord Ruler has one vial/charge of each Misting and each Ferring power.

Assassins are able to make one kill per night cycle.

Hazekillers are able to defend one person (cannot self target). If that person is attacked, then the Hazekiller kills the attacker. The person attacked still dies.

Allomancy/Feruchemy

Mistings have start the game with three vials of their metal. Mistings can only use their abilities once a cycle. Ferrings can store thier metals, but it takes a cycle to store. The ferrings only get one charge, at first.

Mistings

Iron: protects from steel kill

Steel: attack one player

Tin: target a person and find out what action they took (in the form of “killed [x]”, “protected [y]”, etc)

Pewter: extra life for cycle burned

Zinc: move a vote onto another player

Brass: doubles a vote

Copper: protects one player (along with self) from zinc, brass, and bronze

Bronze: discovers which metal (if any) a person burned in the last cycle

Ferrings

Iron: self-protect

Steel: roleblock a player (including PMs for the next cycle)

Tin: spy on the PMs of your target (you do not see the PMs of the other side of the conversation)

Pewter: protect a player from skaa and Assassin kills

Zinc: see anyone who targets you (but not what actions they take)

Bronze: see the type of action your target took (Allomantic, Feruchemical, or Other)

Gold: extra life for that cycle

(Will add in timer later. Expect it to last for a week.)

A few mechanics questions:

1. Is there a restriction on the number of actions you can perform in a cycle? If there are multiple actions, can you perform the same action multiple times?

2. How does Feruchemical Storing work? Can you Store and Tap a metal on the same turn?

3. Just to confirm: Copper does not protect from Atium?

Boris pored over his ledgers, glancing from them to the inventory sheet and back again. Steel shipments: all accounted for. Charms to ward off Kandra: all accounted for. Grain barges: still awaiting inventory. Keys: not all accou--never mind. Bargo's handwriting was just even more unreadable than usual. He made a good manager, sure, but his writing looked like it was done with an Inquisitor spike.

Back to the ledgers. Construction paneling: accounted for. Paint:-- Boris pulled the inventory sheet to within an inch of his nose and scrutinized the number that Bargo had written. It appeared to be five too low, but you never knew with Bargo's writing.

"Bargo, can you come over here and confirm these figures?"

Bargo sauntered over, a younger male skaa with a face that kept its soot-stained look no matter how hard he scrubbed. Working on the docks did that to a man. "Wat seems to be da mattah?" His speech was nearly as bad as his looks--both were the kind of thing you'd expect to find in the slums--but Bargo had an instinct for organization that could rival even some of the Nobles' merchants, so Boris tolerated him.

"Does that number mean what I think it does?"

"Ya mean does it mean that we lost five cans? Dat it does. Whole case o' 'em, last night I'd wageh."

"If they had all the time of the night to work, why do you think they contented themselves with just five cans?"

"Real 'onorable guys, I reckon. Take jus' wat dey need."

"Honorable? Bah." Boris walked away, muttering to himself as he went, "First roofing, now paint. What could they possibly want with the stuff, and what else will they take?"

7 hours ago, Darkness Ascendant said:

What do you mean not every role will be in the game?

He means every role will be in the game, but he doesn't want you to know that:ph34r:

Actually, he might be completely honest, and I'm just messing around.

I was very tempted to sign up as a character named "Vin" in spite of the game's name, but decided not to break the narrative. Instead I'll play as Neer, who totally isn't the alternate reality version of her brother, Reen. You're insane for even considering that. What are you, Spiked?

The pleasant melody wafted over the ballroom filled with dancing nobles. Some sat a tables, sipping wine and chatting about things that they thought were important. Diego didn't care. He simply strummed the strings of his guitar, their low sound coming out mellow and sweet. To either side, Pablo and Juan sang a calm duet, their voices in harmony. Diego didn't sing; his voice was like a pane of glass dragged over gravel. However, as Juan often said, his guitar could woo any woman. Diego smiled to himself. Not that he intended to marry, the band was his life, and that was all he needed.

Pablo smiled over to Juan as they sang in their language. The nobles couldn't understand Spanish, but what they don't know, they don't know. "Friend, how will we deal with peppers? The price is getting too high," he sang.

Juan kept the tune. "Nah, I know a man. Sells great peppers, straight from his garden."

"A garden? Is he noble?"

"No, but his peppers are still excellent. I will introduce him to you sometime."

Pablo nodded, and lapsed into the chorus, brightly strumming his guitar with Juan. The nobles thought them intriguing, this is why they got paid to perform. Their ethnicity didn't match skaa or noble, so good life! Salsa and wine. Pablo eyed a waiter. He didn't notice, but Pablo memorized his outfit. That one, he thought, will give me some wine, but after this song. Juan still hadn't told him about the avocados.

Multiple notes:

1. I'm co-GMing this game. I don't think that was mentioned. Surprise. :P

2. It has now been a week since the opening of the game. We still only have 11 players, though, so we'll have to extend it at least a little bit - more than twenty would be ideal. We'll see where we get. I'd rather this not be the smallest LG on record.

3. Turnover will be at 5 pm PST / 8 pm EST / 1 am GMT / I don't know which Australia timezone to use so convert it yourself please and thank you. :P

4. The rules may change slightly before the game begins (because... reasons ), so I highly suggest rereading them once the game has actually started.

5. Spec doc will be sent out as soon as I make one.
