The website says that tickets went "on sale" for this event on January 18, but it wasn't posted on the website until a few days ago, and tickets were already sold out. I have signed up for the newsletter, but never got a notification about the event. Does anyone know how we can be made aware of signings like this a little earlier?

Looks to me like it might have been Team Sanderson dropping the ball on this one, or maybe Brandon was just a late addition to the agenda. This wasn't even listed with the events on his website until very recently. So, I think you've done everything right, but this might have been a less-than-optimal situation.

I'm here. Shoot.

Something I've been wondering about is whether Brandon, as he's been working on planning The Apocalypse Guard (and to a lesser extent Snapshot), has come up with some sort of organizational scheme for the different iterations of Earth. Marvel and DC both just do Earth-#, will he do the same, or something different? I don't know if that is interesting to non-wiki people though...

Sorry -- he ended up taking only 3 questions from my section.

Long-time lurker, first post, but others who were there can confirm what I say.  Most questions were about his writing process and other general topics. The only Cosmere-specific ones I remember were as follows:
Does burning cadmium actually slow down time or just slow down the perception of time? (there was a bit more to the question but I was on the opposite end of the room) The answer was it does actually slow time.
Is there or will there be a shard for Entropy?  That was/is Ruin

There were a couple others with obvious answers (Is Odium the same person as Ruin?) but nothing else stood out.  There was indeed a reading of the prologue to Oathbringer. POV character is

Spoiler

Eshonai

And for my own question while I got a book signed I asked "What would happen if you tried to cut aluminum with a shardblade and as a follow-up how significant is it that Nightblood has a metal sheath?" To which he answered, "It is significant, and a shardblade would not cut aluminum."

Huh. I'd assumed that, since this was Dalinar's book, he'd be the one with the PoV. But, I guess that doesn't hold up, since Szeth's PoV wasn't in his book, but Kaladin's. I wonder who the last two will be? Dalinar in Book 4, and Gavilar in Book 5? Or maybe we'll get one of the Heralds that were there that night?

This is a direct contradiction to a relatively recent WoB. @WayneSpren, best I can tell the previous WoB was yours - if that's the case, is it possible you somehow misremembered Brandon's answer? I don't see how, but I ought to ask.

@Bridge4AM, in the meantime a photo of your book(s) would be lovely :)

Going to use general terms so I don't have to use the spoiler tags. He admitted that he had just barely written the prologue and it would very likely go through some changes, but it was an interesting perspective and a few new tidbits.  I saw several people with their phones out recording the reading so I image the video will surface before too long if it hasn't already.

Maybe the previous WoB was a tricky answer like "the Shardblade may cut Alluminium like a normal blade", therefore a Shardblade could cut alluminium.

Of course this destroy my Alluminium theory...but I can't go aganist the Truth

I wish that I had been recording his answer or had asked him to write it in my book, but unfortunately I did not (he'd already signed my book by the time I asked).  Only other people within hearing distance were my 11-year old daughter and an Evil Librarian. I chose the wording to my question quite deliberately and I'm confident I heard his answer correctly, but I know it can't be considered official without any evidence.

I am actually more inclined to agree with the "Shardblades cannot cut aluminum" version, it makes more sense to me. The reason Blades can cut anything so effortlessly is not because they are super sharp, it's because they are magical. Which would make aluminum good against them. I reasoned around this after we got the previous WoB on the topic (saying that magical or not they are still sharp objects, and aluminum is a soft metal, so sure, maybe they can cut it purely based on the physical interaction), but I was never quite happy with this.

Maybe both can be true. It requires a little bit of mental gymnastics to fit Brandon's seemingly contradicting answers, but it's possible.

You'd think people would be making armor out of Aluminum then, right? Don't we know from the book that it is possible to soulcast aluminum and that the people know of aluminum? (even though Roshar doesn't have accessible deposits). I wonder if Brandon changed his mind on Soulcasting Aluminum?

Maybe Shardplate is a form of spren-invested Aluminum? Though that seems pretty unlikely.

Also we have the idea that the guards on Shardblades are made of aluminum, which would imply that. Not exactly confirmed but...

This question seemed to get the most reaction out of him. He laughed and smiled, and said "that's a very smart question, well done, you're on the right track."

He said they could, but implied it was very difficult or caused a negative effect of some sort. This could mean Shardblades cannot cut Aluminum without some other factor, or he could have just changed his mind about it at some point.
