The tower, the crown, and the spear!" -Death rattle. Brandon has told us to pay attention to chapter icons. Currently, some of them are the tower and crown (Dalinar) and the spear (Kaladin). What does this mean? Is this death rattle related to the chapter icons, and if so, what is Brandon trying to tell us? Please speak your thoughts. The death rattle makes it sound like the "picking up" refers to someone adopting a role, or one role for each of the items. The chapter headings may be hinting that Dalinar is going to be the one doing the changing (I pick Dalinar over Kaladin because he's got 2 of the items): he exemplifies the crown be becoming de facto leader of the highprinces, he exemplifies the tower when he defends them (or it could be an homage to Urithiru), and he exemplifies the spear by leading his people into battle once more. I believe it is Kaladin (the subject of a few death rattles) who wears the tower and crown adding a spear to his office badge now that he is a lighteyes/radiant, and taking up the title of KR. Patrick Star Posted September 26, 2016 Report Share Posted September 26, 2016 I always figured that it was referring to Kaladin finally becoming a Radiant (the title) and saving Dalinar (the crown) after Sadeas' betrayal (at the tower).
