New Novella

6 posts in this topic

Evidently Brandon has been working on a new novella that I don't remember him mentioning before. It will be published by a new publisher. Here are the details:

Picture

New York Times bestseller Brandon Sanderson is often cited as being one of the most influential fantasy authors in the business. From Mistborn to The Wheel of Time to The Stormlight Archive, his ability to channel his unique imagination and creativity into his fiction has won over fans across the world. In addition to these massive works of wonder, Sanderson has also carved out a place among the best authors of novella-length fiction with the Legion series and the Hugo Award-winning The Emperor’s Soul.

In his newest novella, Snapshot, Sanderson’s skill and imagination are on full display.

About the Book
Snapshot is a Science Fiction detective story following Anthony Davis, a cop assigned to Snapshot Duty. In this vivid world that author Brandon Sanderson has built, society can create a snapshot of a specific day in time. The experiences people have, the paths they follow—all of them are real again for a one day in the snapshot. All for the purposes of investigation by the court.

Davis’s job as a cop on Snapshot Duty is straight forward. Sometimes he is tasked with finding where a criminal dumped a weapon. Sometimes he is tasked with documenting domestic disputes. Simple. Mundane. One day, in between two snapshot assignments, Davis decides to investigate the memory of a call that was mysteriously never logged at the precinct, and he makes a horrifying discovery.

As in all many stories, Snapshot follows a wonderfully flawed character as he attempts to solve a horrific crime. Sanderson proves that no matter the genre, he is one of the most skilled storytellers in the business.

Wow, that sounds amazing and I hadn't heard anything about it yet! Nice find!

Edit: Wow, $50, and the $250 edition is already sold out?

Bumping this because I put in an order today (yeah, very late) and they were still offering the $250 edition, which surprises me given the limited number but it looks like if anyone out there wants to grab it, they've still got copies unsold.

Has anybody heard any updates about this? I ordered the lettered edition back in July, looking forward to Feb, hopefully get it just in time for my birthday!

$50 for a Novella? That's... ridiculous.

Sanderson or no, I didn't even pay that much for my leather-bound signed and numbered Legion limited editions! And those were limited to 1,000 copies!
I understand making a buck or two, and the special materials going into these types of editions aren't cheap but DAYUM!
