Iadon’s rule over Arelon is still new and unstable. The chaos of the new government is fanning the rumours of discontent in the newly goddless nation. The King’s paranoia grows with each pasing hour. Trusted friends, loyal servitors and skilled agents are all suspect in his diseased mind. He has taksed his son, Raoden, the crown prince, with the duty of investigating the ones he believes to be capable of overthrowing him. No one truly believes there is opposition to the Merchant-King, but all must bow to his mad whims.

LG rules are in effect. All actions happen simultaneously. There is a 5 turn inactivity Filter. The Citizenry win when all the Eliminators are dead. PM's are Day only.

Known Roles:

Legionnaire - Chooses a player to Interrogate and Roleblock/protect next night.

ChayShan Practioner - Can attack one player per Night.

Retired Pirate - Can survive one attack or lynch per game.

Bodyguard - Can protect one player from an attack per night.

Merchant - Can cancel a vote.

Duke - Can add a secret vote to the lynch.

Dula - Can investigate a player and learn if they are an eliminator.

Beggar - Can choose a known role from the dead players to become.

Noble - All other citizens are nobles. They have a collective extra vote.

More complicated Rules. These are the same rules, just in a lot more detail.

LG Rules are in effect. Each Day Turn will be 48 Hours long. Each Night will be 24 Hours. Each Day has a lynch as normal. A tied lynch results in Both players being lynched.

Failure to post for five Turns in a row will result in the player’s death. Posting in a doc* or PM does not count for thread activity. If a player dies of inactivity at the start of Night 3 (Meaning they never posted) then their alignment and Role will be given to a Noble. If a player dies of inactivity after Night 3, then tough luck. Their role and alignment are gone, even if they’re on an eliminator team. *Except Legionnaire Docs. See Legionnaire rules.

There are no secret Citizen roles. All possible Citizen roles are in the rules. Eliminators and Neutral players may or may not have identical, similar, or completely different roles. The various roles might have secret abilities or rules that relate to how they interact with Secret roles. Those rules will be revealed when the corresponding secret rule or role is revealed.

There are Secret roles. There can be Neutral, Neutral-Evil, or Eliminator Secret roles. Neutral roles have win conditions that can be fulfilled with any team, Neutral-Evil Roles have win conditions that can only be fulfilled with Eliminator or Neutral teams. Eliminators have win conditions that can be fulfilled only at the cost of the Citizenry team’s win conditions. The Citizenry do not need to kill all the Neutral or Neutral-Evil players to win, only the Eliminators. All alignments can have Factions, or independant players. Eliminator Factions need to kill all other Eliminator Factions, if there are multiple factions. There is at least one Eliminator as of the start of Day 1.

PM's are Day use only, which means they can be started, read, and replied to only during the Day turns. During the Night, players cannot PM eachother. PM's must include the GM. PM's can have as many players as you want in them. You may PM only yourself.

I will only clarify rules that are in this post. I will not answer any questions about secret roles, until that role has been revealed. I will reveal all rules about a secret role only once that role dies, or other specific circumstances are met.

Iadon, Raoden, The Only Joe, The Impartial Moderator, and Spectators can take no actions. They cannot be targeted by actions, votes or anything else. They do not have an alignment.

Known Roles:

All Citizens will have one of these roles, there are no Secret Citizen roles. This does not mean these are safe roles. Eliminators can start with these roles, or with roles similar to them. Though I often refer to them as The legionnaire or The Dula, there can be any number of each role, including none.

Legionnaire - (Day Active/Night Passive) The Legionnaire targets a player during the day. At Night the player is Arrested. This is not revealed. The Legionnaire and the Arrested player are both put anonymously into a doc. The Arrested player cannot talk in the thread, PM’s or Docs, except the provided Arrested Doc. The Arrested player cannot take any action, and all actions targeting them fail. The Legionnaire is still targetable. The Legionnaire can arrest the same person multiple cycles in a row. You can Arrest yourself. If two  Legionnaires attempt to arrest the same player, the arrested player will be put in two docs, one with each Legionnaire. The Legionnaires will not be aware of the other Legionnaire. If two Legionnaires arrest each other, They will be put in the same doc, not two docs. If a Legionnaire arrests another Legionnaire, who arrests someone else, the arrested  Legionnaire will be put in a doc with the other  Legionnaire, and with his player. He can talk in both. If a Legionnaire arrests himself, he will not be given a doc. Posting in the Doc counts as posting in the thread for the inactivity filter.

ChayShan Practioner - (Active Night) Can attack one player per night. If the attacked player has an extra life, or is protected, the attack will fail. A failed attack will not be revealed in the writeup. If you attack a player with an extra life, they will know they were attacked, but not who attacked them. If you attack a player protected by the Bodyguard, only the Bodyguard will know that your target was attacked. Killing a player does not stop their action from happening. You can attack yourself.

Retired Pirate - (Passive Day/Night) Can survive one attack or lynch per game. If the Bodyguard protects you, and you are attacked, you will not lose your extra life. If you are attacked, you will be told you were attacked, but not by who.

Bodyguard - You can choose a player to protect. If they are attacked, you will fight off their attacker. You will know they were attacked, but not who attacked. Your target will not know you  Legionnaireed them. You can protect yourself. If two bodyguard protect the same person, and their target gets attacked, then only one will save them.

Merchant - You can cancel one player’s vote. You cannot cancel the Duke’s Secret Vote, or the Noble’s Collective vote. The vote tally will not say whose vote was canceled, it will just show a number less than the total voters. You can cancel your own vote.

Example: Mailliw(3): Alvron, Meta, Wilson, The Only Joe

Duke - You have an extra secret vote. The Vote Tally will have your secret Vote listed as Duke. This vote can be on a different player than who you voted for, or yourself.

Example: Mailliw(5): Alvron, Meta, Wilson, The Only Joe, Duke

Dula - Can investigate a player and learn if they are an eliminator. If they target a Neutral or Neutral-Evil player, they will be told that the player is not an eliminator. If they target a player who is in the Legionnaire doc, they are told that the player is under arrest, and cannot be investigated.

Beggar - Can choose a known role from the dead players to become. That role replaces your Beggar Role until the end of the game. If you die your role will say Beggar-Turned-NewRole. If you target a Beggar, you will become a Beggar, with no added benefits. Except that when you die you will be revealed as a Beggar-turned-Beggar-Turned-New role. You cannot choose to become an Eliminator, or Neutral-Evil Role. If you choose to become a Neutral Role, your Alignment will not change.

Noble - You can vote for a player in the GM PM, and whoever has the most Noble Votes will be given an extra vote, Labeled as Noble. If the Noble Votes are tied, A coin flip will determine who the noble’s vote for.

Example: Mailliw(5): Alvron, Meta, Wilson, The Only Joe, Noble

Order of actions.

Day:

Votes are sent in.

The Merchant cancels a vote.

Noble and Duke votes added.

The Lynch happens.

Night:

The Dula investigates.

The Bodyguard protects a player for the rest of the night.

The Beggar chooses a new role.

The ChayShan practitioner kills a man.

The Legionnaire arrests a player for the next cycle.

Game Starts:

Sorry, yeah I was F5-ing. I saw your announcement in the LG GM PM. Do you want me to hide my post so you can have the second one?

Also, I believe it's "Merciful Domi" not "Sweet Harmony". Remember your world :)

As for my character, I'll wait and see if Aeleus survives MR15.

No, It's funnier this way. I like it when people are that excited for the games.

Actually, I've decided on my character: Sky Masterson, a rather bored nobleman always busy drawing patterns in the air under his desk during long meetings.

You seem to like Chaos games where no one quite knows what's going on. This will be fun.

Signing up as Liadan, I think. :D Haven't had a secret rules game since... QF15? I think that was the last one. Cannot wait

May pick a playstyle for this game, may not. We'll see. Also, I'll be gone (as in completely gone, not just 'travelling but talking the same amount as usual because I like talking :D' gone) for a full cycle somewhere in the middle of the game. Sorry. :( EDIT: Possibly more like a cycle and a half. Depends on when the cycles fall.

Does this mean that there are unknown roles?:o

Edit: Nvm.  read spoilered post and saw that there are.

It's fun being the only one who knows what's going on.

It means those roles are known.

You say Arrested players can't talk in docs. So why are they put in a doc?

I'm in as Saomi. But know that I'll be active for only a few cycles before I have to drop out(if I'm still alive by then). I just want to get a final game in.

Arrested players can talk in the guard docs, and only in the guard docs. If they are in any other docs that may or may not exist, they don't get to talk in those docs.

We'll miss you Mailliw. Happy Hunting.

Ah. Also, you use Legionares in both the Guard and Bodyguard explanation.

Thanks! I'll miss playing with you guys too!

Dang it, I thought I fixed those. Legionnaire used to be City Guard, but I changed it.

Put me in as Mablung, a worldhopper who would prefer a forest to a city any day. His skills include stealth, survival, and sneaking LOTR references into otherwise-respectable LGs.

Are you insinuating that LotR references make something less respectable? :o For shame. :P

For some reason I knew you'd be the one to respond. Here's my counterarguments:

  1. I was overt enough with my language for it to be categorized not into "insinuating" but into "alleging"
  2. There are those here that would view my comments as making it less respectable, such as @Ecthelion III
  3. That statement acts as my disclaimer to make obscure references to Ithilien, Faramir, the Haradrim, etc. without anyone saying I didn't warn them

Implying, maybe. Alleging is a bit too strong. (Semantics, yes, I know, hush.) But you're also implying that you hold those views yourself. Which I sincerely hope is not the case.

And reference away. I shall be very happy to watch for those. :D Should be fun. I'd put in references myself, but I don't think I'll be able to do my RP playstyle this game. :(

I'd stick with alleging, since implying connotes a covert rather than an overt point. I was trying to be overt.

I don't hold the views myself of course, I was just letting others know what they'd be in for. B)

Meh, okay. If that's your intention.

Ah, but if you use that view you'll make others dread your references rather than be excited by them! You can spin it however you so wish. :P Truth is fun to play with.
