Hogwarts RP Discussion Thread

Twilyght's Fan fiction has gotten the wheels in my brain turning towards Harry Potter again, so I was just wondering if anyone would be interested in a Hogwarts RP?

I would need 4 or more other people committed in order to make this happen. It would begin when students got their letters and would end at the end of the year, of course. Take place in 2015-2016 school year and only original characters for the students. (Not the teachers)

So just sign up below. Character descriptions are not needed yet. :)

I didn't expect this many people!  :D

I'd be interested. What's the plot?

I don't really know yet. At first I was thinking of just general shenanigans at Hogwarts, but it would be better for it to be a little more structured. I'll do some brainstorming on it.

What length would this be?

It really depends on what it needs to be.

Hmm. Maybe.

I don't mean to sound cagey! I just worry I wouldn't be active enough to keep up with the rest of you guys!

But I'd be up for it.

It's fine. This will probably end up being slow anyway. :)

Okay, but in all seriousness.

Much as I like the Harry Potetr books, there are a lot of extra-curricular stuff that goes unmentioned. We know about Quidditch, but is that the only sport there is at the school? What other kind of clubs are there? Is there a music club? A group that meets every Wednesday to try and map out the ever changing stairways and corridors of Hogwarts castle?

This is 2016... so do electronics work now? Because, really, do you think any kid is going to go to magic academy if they can't bring their iPod? Also, cultural divides. The Wizarding World [ijust finished a war[/i]. How do they explain that to new, Muggleborn students?

Even if there was no plot - just slice of life adevtnures- there is a lot of stuff we could do.

I was actually planning on playing a Muggleborn who gets Sorted into Slytherin at her own request. I'm with Quiver here as well; we should delve into the other aspects of Hogwarts besides Quidditch and classes.

And has anyone here seen The Setup Wizard on Tumblr? I would actually be in favor of having a Muggle IT guy on campus.

Technology doesn't work around magic :( Lots of other interesting things though, from memory I believe there's gobstones, charms and a potions club, I'd be pretty surprised if there wasn't a photography club too, albeit a small one.

I volunteer to be a portrait guarding a passage to the kitchens. I occasionally wander around though.

I'm sure if there was enough interest in/outrage over the magic conflicting with technology, they could rig some servers to be magic compatible. We never got a clear explanation on how the magic works, after all, so we could always say that they changed things for this especially.

Technology can totally be engineered to work with magic. Just look at Mr. Weasley's flying car, or the Hogwarts Express. Where there's a will, there's a way.

I agree with Quiver. We could delve more into Hogwarts, and the people. How about a dueling league?

This should definitely be after the end of HP as we know it. About 5 years? 10?

Let's see . . . if this is the 2015-2015 school year, it will be 17-18 years afterwards? I think that's right.

I think technology + magic could be very plausible.
