A half pound pepperoni one I got to help with....headaches....in the morning.

This first can of Coca-Cola is working out great, though.

 

Eep. :wacko: I have a pretty easy recipe that might help with your particular problem, and all you need is an egg, flour, milk, salt, cinnamon, and something sweet to put on top.

There are other solutions to that.  Like remembering to drink water intermittently, and drink an extra glass of H2O before going to bed.

I also add some Gatorade to that mix ;) Usually I'm fine, but sometimes you have events like the Great Gin War of '13...at least today was not like the aftermath of that!

Ingredients (for one serving; can be adjusted proportionately): 

 

1 egg 

1/4 cup wheat flour or 1:1 gluten free mix 

1/4 cup milk 

1/4 teaspoon salt 

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon 

1/2 tablespoon butter 

 

Whisk all ingredients, except the butter, together until mixture is smooth. 

 

Oven method: Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Place butter in walled glass pan (a pie dish will do) and melt as oven is preheating. Pour mixture into dish and back 14-16 minutes, or until mixture is puffy and golden (it will rise above the walls of the pan, usually). 

 

Stovetop method: Melt butter in nonstick pan over medium-low heat. Pour mixture into pan and cook until golden brown on both sides, flipping at least once. 

 

Serve with maple syrup, jam, cranberry sauce, or any other sweet topping that suits your fancy.

I'm such a lightweight that I don't need more than a glass or two of water to keep things balanced out.

 

Eeesh.  Gin war.  That sounds dangerous.  I suspect that nobody won that conflict.

A healthy daily amount of water would be at least half your body weight in ounces. For example, if you weighed 200 pounds, you should drink at least 100 ounces daily.

Yeah, but I'm just talking about balancing out alcohol-induced dehydration, which is generally what causes the worst of a person's hangover symptoms.  :)

That's kinda arbitrary :P

 

Drinking about 32 oz at the end of the night is usually good for dealing with most hangover symptoms. But not all, so here's a list of what causes them:

 

1) Dehydration- the important thing is to drink water at the end of the night, when you are not adding more aqua vita into your system. During your session is fine as well, but at least in my experience drinking water at the end of the night/morning is essential. This is also the leading cause of a good host of hangover symptoms.

 

2) Lack of restful sleep- alcohol wrecks your sleeping ability. You may "pass out" but you aren't really getting the actual type of REM sleep you need. Since I was up until five this morning, I believe this was a huge contributor on my part.

 

3) Lack of various electrolytes- as you get dehydrated, you lose some electrolytes which will leave you somewhat sore the next day. That's why I drink Gatorade at the end of the night. Not too much, and you still have to drink water otherwise you will get dehydrated like a chump.

 

4) Various characteristics of what you do drink: Tannins, Red Bull, other stuff you mix into your drinks will cause various problems as well. I have these last because they normally do not cause too much trouble unless you do something stupid.... like drink massive amounts of red wine, for example.

 

 

Having a cat to cuddle with is also helpful. Having an old dog with mucus oozing out of her empty eye-socket is not. ;)

You are sleep drunk, then? Very tired, and liable to say ridiculous stuff and laugh for minutes at an oddly shaped piece of wood.

I had nothing to do with the Great Gin War of '13--but I destroyed many opponents in the Gin War of '14.  

 

Last night I forgot to take any precautions with my drinking.  Was up early that morning for work, and then crawled into bed at around 4am.  Woke up at 1.  And felt--fine.  Ish.  Tired, mostly.  But I only had 1 cup of water after I started drinking, because I wasn't driving and so forgot.  I didn't mix any caffeine or energy drinks with my alcohol during this time, so that may have been part of why I felt victorious rather than defeated.  Although, I think I'm still missing some of my upper brain functions even these many hours later, so perhaps I am merely deluded.  But content, and no hangover.

 

The recipe that Twi posted sounds amazing and delicious.  Especially since my sister made me this awesome amaretto/cranberry sauce stuff for Christmas.  So, I'll be having for breakfast tomorrow!

Twi that recipe sounds like pancakes? And delicious.

I'm not a massive drinker, but I've been advised to drink equal water to alcohol and make sure you have food in your system. Just my 2 cents here.

 

It's a lot like pancakes, but simpler. The texture is more eggy than that of regular pancakes, and they cook quicker if you do it on the stovetop. They won't puff up as much, but they taste just as good.

Dad: You need to get him in a support group right away. He's not going to survive if he doesn't have other pugs around.

...I don't know much about pugs, but thinking one's going to literally die if he doesn't get to hang out with other pugs right away is a little extreme, yes? :huh:
