Bort
Lark, is this going anywhere? If not, I'd like to offer the people waiting a chance to join Borderlands. Borderlands is a play by email RPG using Yahoo and Google groups to organise posts. It is possibly the longest running Star Trek RPG on the internet and has been going for about 20 years now. There is a selection of Duty Stations you can play on, all of which are based in the Delta Quadrant. Take a look at my first post in this thread for the link to the maon Borderlands website. I would post it again but am on my phone.
Adamir
Can we send our crew to get eaten by Chasmfiends in Borderlands? You haven't quite sold me on the idea. In all seriousness, I might check out Borderlands if this doesn't go anywhere.
Kestrel
I've been waiting on other people to reply before we start; we have some more planning with the ship. We haven't decided the class yet. I don't know about joining Borderlands, because I don't like email rp.
Bort
Like I said, Borderlands has been going for about 20 years now, so they've had opportunity to work out most of the kinks when working with email RP. A typical post will look something like this... Location: Wherever the scene happens Tags: Who is in the scene Timeline: Where the scene fits with the larger plot My bit of text. "My speech comment." <Your tag> My bit of text. <Your tag> And it continues in this vein until the scene is complete, and a new post is started for the next. Sometimes we'll have multiple scenes running at the same time - on the Bridge, Main Engineering, and a boarding party on another ship, for example, at which point it is up to the Captain (as effective GM) to keep them all tied in together and on track. I think this kind of gameplay works much better than forum RP, as it allows for character interaction (since multiple people will be working on the same scene, instead of you post a bit, I post a bit, but we can't really talk without holding everything up because we'll need to post literally one line at a time), something that is very difficult to get right on a forum. Bort
Ok, so this has been stuck like this for almost the past three months, and nothing has happened with it, so I'm going to throw out an open invitation for people interested in Star Trek roleplay / collaborative writing to come and join us on Star Trek: Borderlands. This is the main Borderlands website, and you can find links from there to the application form, and each of the individual duty stations you will be able to write with, as well as the background information to the setting (I say this as Borderlands has been going far longer than the relatively recent Star Trek reboot movies, so the history is part of the 'prime' universe. Given it's age, there are quite a few differences, Romulus not being destroyed for example). If you do decide to apply for a position, please make a note somewhere in the application that Bort (or Jinx) was the one that invited you.
