Why didn't Steelheart have his scar healed? (+2 other questions)

1. In Reckoners #1 David tells the Enforecement guy he shot in the leg that knew from the Factory that there are Epics that can heal others and that he shouldn't go to them. But why didn't Steelheart have one of them heal him?

2. Also, what's good was killing everyone in the bank so that people wouldn't think he could be harmed? after all, lots of people saw him with a scar afterwards. Did he try to spread the word that he got the scar before becoming Epic or something?

3. Why did Steelheart have Nightweilder shroud Newcago in eternal darkness anyway? I understand why Nightweilder would want it, after all sunlight is his weakness, but why did Steelheart want it?

1) We don't really know, maybe that doesn't work on scars and by the time he had everything in order it didn't work or those healing Epics worked with gifting and that means they couldn't heal Epics or maybe Epics can just heal each other on principle. Although I don't think any of that was stated in book..

2) It was less about him being harmed, which is crem anyway given that all Epics have a weakness, and more about making the specific event secret, so no one could figure out a clue from it.

3)It's opressive and as such makes people more afraid of him and his tyrant status by association.

1) maybe those healing epics are gifters like prof, so their power would not work on another epic. or maybe steelheart did not trust themm enough for it; remember, he was paranoid, letting somebody else heal him could have required more trust than he has. or maybe again, those epics work by regenerative powers, so once the wound was healed and with a scar there was nothing those powers could do. really, there are tons of possible explanations.

2) he wanted to keep secret what harmed him. everybody knows any epic has a weakness, but by killing alll witness he could ensure his weaknes would remain secret. which it did, until david.

3) maybe to get a more oppressive atmosphere, or maybe he could not care either way about the sun, so he just let nightwielder do it. it's true that steelheart, personally, had no interest in obscuring the sun, but he had no interest in not obscuring it either.

EDIT:

Actually, Brandon revelad he invented Nightwelder because he wanted the city to feel all gloomish and stuff.

Well, yes, of course, but that's the author's reason. just the same as the city being made of metal to get more in touch with a cyberpunnk atmosphere. We were talking about steelheart's reason.

1) like others have said, they might be regenerating gifter Epics that heal with gifting.

2) that is likely what people would have assumed. Most people hadn't heard of him before he took over Chicago and destroyed the bank.  But yeah, he probably spread rumours, but really covertly.

3) i think it was part of the deal- Nightwielder works for him, becomes his right-hand Epic, and in return Steelheart lets him shroud the city in darkness.
