Where did the Lorists come from?

I'm fresh onto the boards so please be gentle.

I think that the Lorists began from Anonymous (and other similar groups). Their methods of communication and isolation for safety seem to me to be a logical fit. Plus, wouldn't it be cool if Tia was an Anon pre-Calamity, solving O-ring problems by day and exposing corruption by night? If nothing else her Cola addiction matches all the stereotypes.

I know it's a wild theory with little to support it but I had to get it off my chest, let me know what you think.

Hmmm it is interesting, but there is one problem- the internet doesn't exist anymore. Anonymous would have to adopt their completely cyber-based communications networks pre-Calamity to completely different means post-Calamity. I don't think anonymous would have the resources or the expertise (being good hackers and experts with the internet doesn't mean squat when there is no internet) to adapt and become the lorists.

I think it more likely that they are the survivors and remnants of various corporate and government labs/research organisations that existed before the government collapsed. It makes sense given what we know of Tia- she was a scientist working at NASA, and seemed to be working with Prof researching Epics once they started appearing. At first they did it to exploit the epics and make advanced technology from them- but soon it was about defeating them. In the interests of mutual survival and for the good of humanity, these groups linked up at some point, forming networks of intelligence and data-gathering to help humanity fight back. Even after the fall of the federal, state and  local governments, these networks remained, and so they remain to this day.

What exactly are Anonymous (and other similar groups)?

a group of loosely-affiliated, international hackers and activists that roam the internet supporting various libertarian/socialist/liberal causes. They have leaked various things to the media that governments wanted kept secret.

That depends on whether they could adapt to the new methods of communication, I don't know if this is just in newcago but every one has mobiles right. Exel also uses a radio to collect information at on point. I don't think that the Lorist's a group of Anonymous that reformed after the calamity's rise, but the Lorist's might be based on Anonymous as they use some of the same tactics (to uncover information and supply it to the people who can use it).
