Lindel
I second Blaze's vote, although I suggest we get the assault team into position as soon as possible, waiting on call. If we confirm that the barn is housing warp technology, they should be ready to move in immediatly.
Redbird
I also think a reconnaissance team is the best thing for what we know. Although we should have a large force standing by to wipe them out if it comes to that. And they should probably be armed with Lrads.

Lindel
Chouta Connoisseur, we have made contact. You can find Kobold's compliation of the data from this source on page three. Wintercloud: Between Kobold's initial briefing on page one and the data collected on page three, you should be have as much information as the rest of us. Redbird
I'm for the deployment of the low frequency sonar weapon. Unfortunately, peaceful resolution does not seem to be an option at this point, and if we must react violently, it would be better if it didn't endanger any human lives. Could someone give me the details on this weapon? Which weapon?
Lindel
An LRAD, or a Long Range Accoustic Device, is sonic weapon that delivers painful sonic bursts across great distances. Slight adjustments to conventional LRADs should allow us to use these at a frequency that is below the human range of hearing, letting us severely hamper the Chargers without risking injuring any hostages. EDIT: It seems the majority are in favor Blaze's motion to deploy a small reconnasience team, establish contact and learn what we can. Meanwhile, a large assault team will be manuevered into place, armed with low-frequency LRADs, ready to move in on command. Redbird
And since it can cause permanent hearing damage humans, and earth elephants have much better hearing, it would likely impair them from fighting.
Lindel
Precisily. At which point our assault team moves in, secures the hostages, and searchs for any sign of warp technology.
Mailliw73
So it looks like there are 5 votes for the plan I suggested: My proposed course of action to to send a small team, who look visibly unarmed, to peacefully and unagressively approach the Chargers to see what they can find out from there. We still have 16 hours so we aren't in a time crunch yet. But I do think the plan of utilizing our military resources should begin in the meantime as well.
Mailliw73
It also appears that we all agree that we need an attacking force ready as a backup. I also vote for the LRAM. Does everyone agree to getting the military's power ready as Smurf brought up? For the small team, I vote for two scientists(one with expertise in biology and the other in technology), two soldiers, a diplomat and our lead translator. Small weapons only, likely pistols hidden on the soldiers. Video and audio technology also hidden on them.
SmurfAquamarineBodies
So it looks like there are 5 votes for the plan I suggested: You have my vote as well. How soon could we actually get people with the proper training to be able clearly recite what they see and what it could possibly mean? By that I mean at least 2 military personnel and 3 scientists from 3 different fields. We should send in an engineer, any kind but preferably one in military vehicle design, a zoologist, preferably an expert in elephant anatomy and an another of some other calling. I don't know a chemist perhaps. Are we able to send in some doctors to get a medical for the hostages, taking particular interest in Kyle, they may have done something to him so he is able to hear their frequency and understand their language. Specifically, by that do you mean summoning all of the world's navies to Florida and beginning mass conscriptions in every country? The latter in particular is a course of action that the UN would be hesitant to employ, though they will should a majority of Foundation directors insist. A Joe in the Bush
I don't think we should go with a mass drafting. The countries would refuse to cooperate until after a city is destroyed, plus the Warp technology makes that useless. We need to focus on acquiring their Warp Tech, and then replicating it.

I meant more of gathering and putting militaries on high alert and ready to deploy forces to Florida or wherever is needed ASAP. You have my vote as well. Looks like we're in agreement there then. If we have video and audio feeds attached to them, we won't need them to recite what they see. We can see it for ourselves. Why vehicle design? I'm more interested in having them figure out the whirring noise and how they are translating. Some kind of technology expert or engineer sounds good to me. An elephant specialty biologist/zoologist sounds good as well. A chemist could work, but I'm not sure why we'd need them. A doctor would also be a good idea. SmurfAquamarineBodies
A chemist purely for their perspective on what they see. They may see something of interest that we do not, remember that we have no real idea of what is in there. The vehicle specialist again for their perspective and because we have no real idea of what is in there. I wouldn't suggest sending all the world's navies there just what can get there in a week. ( it only takes a cargo ship 2 weeks to get from New Zealand to china. If you are unsure how fast boats are nowadays Kobold. That's a distance of 11,160 km or 6934 miles. ) We should also set up video conferences with all governing bodies of the planet, including north Korea, if you think they wouldn't be involved in this fair enough because I don't think they would, but we must at least try and include them. If not video conference then at least keep them apprised of all we do and give them all the information we gain. By that I mean everything. All video and audio feeds and everything we may learn from any samples taken from them. We can assume that they are unable to tap into our communications because surely they would skip us and go straight to the general public if that was the case. Kipper
Maybe take an EMP as well, since they would be extremely useful in the event that they start attacking. Edited to take out a mistake. Edited March 3, 2015 by Snoopy
the winter system
What are the people in the surrounding areas doing? They need to not panic. Someone needs to evacuate surrounding areas.
Lindel
We need to arm the reconnaissance team with something more than pistols, unless we've got our assault team on standy for emergency evac. Pistol's won't do crem against a Charger, unless they happen to posses far softer flesh and thinner skin than their Earthly cousins.
Kipper
We don't have an idea of the elephants' knowledge of the surrounding area. They may be watching. If all the people pull out of an area, the elephants may see that as a coming attack on them.
SmurfAquamarineBodies
If we are sending in a 'peace' team then they must be unarmed. We can't state that we have peaceful intentions and then just open fire on them at the slightest provocation. If we send in armed men they may take that as a sign of war and kill all the hostages. Making all this effort null and void.
