Epics of Oregon

Converter

Primary power: The ability to absorb, convert, and release any type of energy by touch. She can also retain the energy she has absorbed, but she loses 10% of it per hour if she is calm, and up to 90% if she is really angry. She does have a limit to how much energy she can hold,(about the show see of a smallish volcanic eruption) but keeping the energy is the bigger limit. (Don't let her near a power plant, that would extremely bad.) She can only give energy to an object if she is touching it, otherwise the energy she releases acts in its normal way. (Heat: convection/radiation.) If she has enough electrical energy, she can cause a static charge to build up on her hands that can then jump?? to other object, like lightning. She can absorb her own energy, but that really isn't helpful except for her kinetic energy. She can absorb her kinetic energy if she falls. She could, is she wanted to, stop air from circulating around a person, but that would require immense concentration, so she couldn't use it in a fight, and she couldn't be distracted by anything, or else the air would flow again. She also can't control how the energy acts once she releases it.

Secondary power: Reincarnation. When she dies, all energy she has is released and her body is then reformed in an explosion, one that isn't caused by her death. She has some control over where she reforms, but not a lot. She can choose a general region, about 100 miles radius, but other than that, she has no control. Sometimes she doesn't choose at all, and reappears at random. Once her body reforms, she automatically absorbs all of the energy of that explosion.

Personality: When she is reincarnated, she is usually is really angry, and goes on a minny rendering. Once she stops that, she is pretty easy to get along with, for a time. After a while she gets kind of bored, so she usually lets herself get killed, just to a change of scenery. Her longest time in between reincarnations is about six months.

Turn into smoke and back

Hellfire:

Real Name: Mick Taylor

Primary Power: Pyrokinesis. Can create and control fire. Can also control many properties of the fire he creates or controls, such as temperature, colour, smoke, shape (to some degree), solidity (can turn fire solid and use it to lift things, or shield himself) and force (can make fireballs explode or have a kick to them when they hit). Unlike other Fire Epics, does not have a permanent fire shield around him and has to maintain it consciously at effort, lacking an inherent Prime Invincibility. Can use his power to fly.

Secondary Power: Heightened Senses and Reflexes. Has reflexes that move at faster than the speed of sound, and can see, hear and smell far better than any human. This combines with his ability to create shields of flame to give him what is nearly a PI.

Weakness: Salt water. Nearly drowned as a child, so fears the touch and especially taste of salt water. If he tastes it, he loses his powers completely. Quenches his fire instead of evaporating like fresh water would, and if he is wet with it he cannot ignite that part of his body or create fire through it, although he can still control existing fire and react super-fast.

Modus Operandi: Ruled over an empire in the Australian outback, taking Ayers Rock as his fortress and allying with an Earth epic to carve out a city in its insides. Renamed it Hell's Rock, and marked the boundaries of his kingdom with a huge wall of fire. An evil, sadistic tyrant who delighted in burning people to death when they displeased him. Surprisingly cool-tempered for a fire epic, and usually possessed a cold anger when enraged. Did work to provide some amenities for his subjects though, creating a system of cold flames to cool down the place. Although he can use these cold flames to freeze people to shake things up a bit.

Iconoclast:

Real Name: Roger Moore

Primary Power: Ghoulification: Can turn ordinary humans into bloodthirsty, savage, enraged cannibals. This process requires physical contact and takes five seconds. Ghouls are much less intelligent than they were as humans, but possess an animal cunning, feel no fear or pain, can use simple weapons, and work in packs given sufficient numbers. They will never attack Iconoclast, and he can exert limited telepathic control over every Ghoul in his vicinity (about 200 metres), limited in numbers only by geography. Ghouls are not "infected" by anything and so cannot transfer their condition, unless one has been gifted with this ability by Iconoclast, but this is not a common occurrence as Ghouls often get carried away and don't use it anyway.

Secondary Power: Limited body modification: Can alter certain properties and the mass of his body in limited, comparatively minor ways. He can shape and move mass around, and can increase or decrease the density and strength of any part of his anatomy. He can also change the molecular components of small parts of his body into a different substance, as long as it is part of his body (for example, sections of skin into bone, or blood into stomach acid). This control extends to changing his physical appearance, body type, facial structure and sex identifiers, but is not fine enough to copy another person very accurately. He can also change his voice, but likewise not with enough fine control to mimic another's with any accuracy, except with the wildest occurrence of coincidence.

Tertiary: Regeneration: Iconoclast is an incredibly powerful regenerator. As long as a clump of his flesh bigger than a few square inches survives intact, he can regenerate an entire new body from it.

Note: Also a gifter.

Weakness: Christian Cross. Touching a cross will deactivate his powers for as long as the contact last. Wounds suffered during contact will heal afterwards, but not fatal ones. Being wounded by an object with a cross symbol scratched/drawn onto it will also kill him permanently.

Physical Appearance: Constantly changing. However, he usually chooses the form of a man in his 40's, well-built, tall, with a strong, clean-shaven face and brown hair. This is similar to his true form, but he had a beard and was thinner and much shorter.

Modus Operandi: Hates law and order in all its forms, seeing it as slavery and inherently incompetent. Goes from town to town, particularly ones controlled by Epics secure in their power, with a firm grip over their domain. He sneaks into town, observes, and plans the best way to upset the Epic's power and control. This usually involves a combination of turning random groups of people across the city into Ghouls, and assassinating important figures in that Epic's government, even the Epic itself if possible. He will rarely show himself to the authorities, preferring to constantly change his appearance and hide among the humans and his Ghouls. Once the place has fallen into anarchy, he will move on to the next town, taking a group of Ghouls with him for assistance and cannon fodder on the road.

Atrophy (Credit to Voidus)

Primary Power: Muscle Weakening - Can weaken any muscles within his target, he's limited to a range of about 100 paces but within that range he can target as many people simultaneously as he wants even without direct line of sight. To inflict lethal levels of damage he usually needs to touch his target.

Secondary: Muscular Linkage - Atrophy can create a bond which causes his target to lose muscular strength proportionate to their distance from Atrophy, while it takes longer than simply causing muscle weakness if they are forcibly moved far enough away they will die. Additionally Atrophy can kill those he has created this bond with without the need to touch them.

Passive: Muscular stasis - no matter what size his muscles become, Atrophy retains the muscular strength and endurance he had when he became an Epic, resulting in him being much stronger than his emaciated appearance would imply.

Phoenix

Epic Name: Phoenix

Age: 26

Powers

  • Reincarnation - Prime Invincibility: much like the Phoenix of mythology, this Epic catches fire when killed, burning to ashes. He is reincarnated from the ashes in an hour.
  • Basic Flame Creation and Manipulation - Can create large bursts of Flame and direct the location it is burning - small stuff like swords of fire or fancy fireworks, or fire shields, require as much concentration as big bursts going in a general direction. (So, 'fire, go left.' 'left-forward' 'up' etc. would be a large burst but uncontrolled.)
    • Often uses to heat parts of his body to very high temperatures.
  • Passive: Cleansing Fire - can 'burn' out impurities such as disease and poison. Will automatically begin heating himself if hypothermia occurs.
  • Passive: General Fire, Heat Immunity - will not accidentally light himself on fire. Immune to most plasmas (lightning, fire) and high temperatures.

Weakness

Please only read this if you are capable of keeping your knowledge of his weakness out of the hands of your characters.

Okra.

MO

Often heats his body parts to extreme temperatures, burning, melting, or even vaporizing opponents by merely touching them. High intensity flame bursts, often dramatic and flashy.

The Ghost

The Ghost

Primary: Enhanced Physicality - More so in agility and speed than strength, though both are enhanced.
Secondary: Enhanced Senses - think Tineye
Passive: The more the Ghost uses his abilities, the less he interacts with the real world - smells and tastes fade away completely first, then sounds and tangibility, and finally visibility. All fade simultaneously, they just fade away at different rates, so they are gone completely in the above order. He can turn this on and off at will, though using it makes him lose touch with reality (he goes crazy, hears voices, etc.)
Weakness: Snake Venom
MO: Goes intangible, sneaks in, pulling out a hidden dagger, goes tangible and kills someone. He has learned various assassin techniques.

Jumpdrive

Jumpdrive will be an intelligence agent - His Primary power used in these operations is known as downloading - merely by touching a non-animate object containing information (e.g. books, computers, papers, or drawings), he 'downloads' the entire thing to his eidetic memory. His Prime Invincibility - this is Astoria, where everyone has PI's - is a danger-initiated encoding, in which any non-Living objects are halted when they touch him, transforming into a series of green 1's and 0's (how will the Financier deal with that?   ) which remain hovering around him. He can then undo this transformation, though this takes some time. Living entities which attack him are stopped - a green Firewall blocks these from hitting him. After repeated attempts, the Firewall will recognize the person as a virus and absorb a small portion of them after every attack. this image looks like the binary around him, albeit without an opaque background, and the firewall looks like a droideka forcefield, but green.tn_gallery_8734_2_110962.jpg

Paradox

His powers fulfill paradoxes: first up, Zeno's Paradox: Anything that would harm Paradox automatically slows down to half its velocity, change in countdown timer, time effective, etc, when it gets halfway to him, recursively. Hence, a bullet fired at Paradox takes an infinite time to reach him, moving slower and slower as they near him. As a second power related to this paradox, he can teleport (bullets traveling from two distances at the same speed take the same time to reach him; hence, the two distances are the same.

Second, in fulfillment of the arrow paradox, he can stop any object's motion by touch.

Thirdly, no one can catch him.

Redshirt

Powers: regenerate any wound fairly quickly - if he goes in a group, he will always be the one killed first. Draws all attacks to himself until killed. Weakness: Someone who looks like Khan.

Epic name: Heatsink

Age: Early 20's

Powers:

  • Energy absorption, for anything but kinetic energy.
  • Passively protects him from fire, electricity etc.
  • Electricity and heat can only be absorbed by direct contact.
  • Increased agility and reaction time.
  • 30 (ish) foot radius for light

Weakness: Escalators

Description/use of powers:

He dresses and acts like vanillas do in public, this is mostly so he can surprise energy epics. Although sometimes he likes to show off and intimidate people, by absorbing all the light that hits him and turning into a human shaped area of pure blackness. He sometimes uses this for stealth, by darkening an area just enough to where others cannot see. He is an expert escape artist, often pulling most of the heat out of a binding or wall to shatter it.

Corvallis Characters:

Tonedeath

Epic

Primary Power:  Sound Manipulation

Example: He can make any noise he can hear louder or quieter, or change the pitch. He can also change the waves in different sections of the wave. Sound expands in a sphere, and as it expands Tonedeath can change to make one side louder or softer, and similar affects

Tertiary Power: Echolocation

Example:  He can make a map of his surroundings in his head, by hearing sounds bounce off of walls and people, He is constantly making a clicking sound to update his sound map. Also he can overlay the Sound Map over his vision and he can see sound as well as physical objects, though it is very disorienting.

Back Story:

Tonedeath used to be Philip Jones an air traffic worker at a military base. After a tragic accident, he was left in a coma and lost the use of his eyes.  After two years he awoke as an Epic, his coma stifled his rending short. He eventually struck out with a previous hospital ward mate, Lawrence “Larry” Seger. By then Tonedeath had been born, and he and Larry began their adventures.

Appearance: Age: 28, Height: 5’9, Hair: Short brown hair,

Tonedeath wears his old reflective vest, although the orange part has been spray painted black, with the silver reflective part left the same. He wears black pants and a black t-shirt under the vest. He also wears mechanic’s goggles, to hide his useless eyes. He carries two handguns.

Weakness: PMed to the GM

Lawrence “Larry” Seger

Human

Back Story:

Larry was injured in combat after serving in the military, and while he was recovering Philip (Tonedeath) awoke. Recognizing that he would need help, Tonedeath took Larry with him.

Appearance: Age: 24, Height: 6’1, Hair: Short Red hair

Dresses in black often, but doesn’t wear a vest like Tonedeath. He usually carries two handguns, a rifle, and a sawed-off shotgun. Also occasionally uses heavier weaponry, but doesn’t generally carry them around.

Personality/ Outlook:

He is content with taking the backseat for most ordeals. He also knows that he needs to be there as backup in case something goes wrong.

Scott R. Douglass

Human

Appearance:

He has red hair, that he cuts when he can (Not often).  He is of medium height, but stands straight, and is in shape.

Backstory:

Scott Douglass is current resident of Corvallis. He isn’t brand new, but he has been there for a while. He is a Marines veteran, he fought in the War in Iraq. He was injured at the Second Battle of Fallujah, and was sent home. He healed from his wounds, but decided to quit from the armed forces. He moved to Corvallis and has lived there since. After Rainmaker seized power in Corvallis, he became a slave to Euphoria’s power. With the sudden lack of Euphoria’s powers, he has become fairly unstable and now detests Rainmaker’s rule and will go to great lengths to destabilize her rule.

Abilities:

He is able to use a variety of modern weaponry. Because of the decrease in security and laws because of the rise of the Epics, he was able to get his hands on some military weapons. His real strengths are in his ability to create and stick to a plan.

The Dalles

Orange Crush

-Epic Name: Orange Crush
 -Old Name: Joshua Lewis

-Town: The Dalles
-Primary Ability: Force fields (orange, of course)
 -Secondary Ability: Damage Resistance
-Weakness: People seeing his bad eye. It's representative of his fear of public humiliation.

-Epic quirk: Extreme narcissism. He absolutely believes that he is the most powerful Epic in Oregon, but he's just too "chill" to go around killing everyone else to prove it. He thinks that the "orange" motif is ridiculously cool because it matches the color of his force fields. He's also super paranoid.
-Personality: He has a hard time feeling strong emotions, due to the length and brutality of his rending. Because of that, he doesn't really suffer from the same anger problems that most Epics have, though he does enjoy slaughter. He is extremely bothered by the fact that he can't feel remorse and sometimes wonders whether he should feel bad for what he's done to people. Otherwise, he mostly just grins and acts smug and confident. Since his time in Salem, he likes swords and usually carries some sort of hand-to-hand weapon with him.
-Appearance: Refuses to wear anything that isn't an eyebreaking shade of orange. Orange T-shirt, orange swimming trunks, orange sunglasses (which he never takes off, even to sleep.) He has an orange Ipod which he wears at all times, which only contains songs that have the word "orange" in the title (though it's been out of power for a loooong time.) His left eye has been disfigured from birth. He's dyed his hair orange.

-History: Evan Murphy was born with a massive birthmark in his left eye. He didn't realize that it was particularly disfiguring until he started attending school in Amarillo, Texas. He scared the other children and went on to have no positive social interactions with anybody until middle school, where he got permission to wear a pair of sunglasses in classroom settings. He was considered sort of weird for most of his school life but otherwise got along fine with other students. It was shortly after his graduation that he was taken by Calamity. Because of his extreme paranoia and his weakness (which he knew instinctively,) his rending consisted of killing every single person who knew about his eye defect, as well as their immediate families and the WPP officers that were eventually assigned to protect them. It lasted months, and he killed thousands of people. Crush's rending was actually one of the uncontrollable chaotic elements that contributed to the chaos of The Collapse. Once it was over, Crush had basically come off of an emotional "high" and was left devoid of emotion. He joined a small group of Epics and traveled Northwest, slaughtering all the way. Eventually, the numb feeling he got in place of remorse started to bother him, and he left the group. He spent several years after that bounding around the wilderness of Oregon, occasionally trying to settle down (one of these attempts was made in Salem, where he spent a few months dominating the close-quarter brackets and doing moderately well in unpowered hand-to-hand, but left when some embarrassing details of his Dreamstate were leaked.) Now he's arrived in The Dalles with the intention of gaining notoriety by helping whoever runs the City Government.

Other info (they teased this out of me in the Questions thread):

-Force fields can only be cast and moved within a range of 10 feet around him.

-He can move the force fields after he casts them, but he can't change their shape or expand/contract them

-He can only have 1 force field up at a time

-Force fields consist of an ultra-thin "front end" that is nearly unbreakable, and a 2-inch thick "back end" that absorbs kinetic energy

-The "front end" must have a surface area of at least 1 square foot, but can be cast in any shape

-Force fields can't be cast inside of living matter

-The farther away a force field is from him, the less precision he has in shaping and moving it.

-The maximum velocity of a force field is 200 mph divided by the field's "front end" surface area in square feet

-Force fields are cast and move relative to him. (eg. If he's traveling in a car, the fields move with him)

-The force fields can be in the shape of wedges, so he can create blades with them, but creating an edge sharp enough to cut requires the field to be generated pretty close to him.

Mason Rubio:

-Appearance: Medium-skinned and confident-looking. He has black hair, brown eyes, and a "Tony Stark" goatee around his mouth and chin. He dresses in uniform most of the time, but otherwise he likes graphic T-shirts and black shorts.

-Personality: Besides his haunted attitude towards life, Mason likes old video games, pre-Calamity anime, and watching SEBA on the barracks television. He knows a decent amount Epic lore from commentators and Epics in the Salem fights. He has night terrors about his dead comrades and the Epics he's fought, and sometimes wishes he were dead so that he wouldn't have to put up with them. He's practical, insightful, and intelligent, but not too good at thinking on his feet.

-History: Mason Rubio is the son of second-generation Cuban immigrants. His father moved to Ohio in 2005 to work for Amtrust. Though Mason's father wanted him to get a business degree, he instead opted for the Army. He spent a full four years at West Point training as a sniper specialist, graduating in 2014 just after Calamity's rise. Mason was soon assigned to a National Guard unit in Portland, but was forced to leave after a rising Epic killed the rest of the unit and began using the armory as a base. He was reassigned to serve in The Dalles under Commander Vondra but was demoted to a Private serving under Lieutenant Fawkes, and continues to serve there.

Salem

Mouldbreaker

Powerset- He can turn stuff into Jell-O. It doesn't work on organics, and he has a 20-foot range. He can summon the substance in multiple forms and flavors, including Jell-O shots, and he can control who much it's set.

Weakness- Murder. Mouldbreaker's powers falter when a person is deliberately killed within his range. Drowning doesn't count unless the murderer was holding them under the water or something.

Appearance- Middle aged and sort of pudgy, with short brown hair and green eyes. He typically has a thoughtful expression. He wears a black policeman's uniform and often wears sunglasses (though he doesn't obsess over them, like one Epic in particular.)

Personality- He's usually pretty bored. He doesn't really enjoy the fights or anything, he just likes keeping order and bullying the Epics that refuse to conform to Salem's rules. His corruption makes him sadistic and domineering, but he keeps control of himself when it manifests, and it wears off after just a few minutes. He has a vision of Salem as a shining paradise of order in a world wracked with chaos, and he wants to turn the city into that.

History- Shawn McClellan was a simple traffic cop before he was taken by Calamity. Despite his rather low position, he had a huge respect for law and order. He tried multiple times to change procedure to make the city run more smoothly and efficiently. As Epics started manifesting, cops were dying left and right, and he was quickly drafted into an anti-Epic SWAT team. It was during a raid on a violent Epic's house (Flashflood, a speed Epic that could belch huge amounts of water from his mouth) that his squad was wiped out. Just before he himself was killed, he felt the light of Calamity turn him into an Epic. He immediately liquefied the entire house, flushing Flashflood out of hiding, then drowned the man by dropping him into a pool of unset Jell-O and then retransfersating it into solidified stuff. From that point on, Mouldbreaker dedicated his life to delivering vigilante justice to people he perceived as doing wrong. His neighborhood in Rexburg, Idaho was relatively undisturbed for as long as he stayed there. When SEBA was just getting started, he heard about the lawlessness that was reigning in Salem, and he decided he'd travel there and reign in the feuding Epics. He now works as chief of the City Guard under Soulcaster.

Riftwalker

Powerset-

-She can summon blasts of energy with her hands or through her sword. The blasts shoot forward, exploding on contact and leaving a black "stain" in the air around the blast site for a few hours

-She can teleport (she calls it Rifting) up to 300 paces. She can't take anything with her except her clothes. She can't teleport into solid objects. The teleportation also leaves a stain in the air at the sites where she comes from and goes to, as well, as an inky, jagged line between the two points. Teleportation is not instantaneous. It's connected to a danger sense.

-She can peer into a dimension she calls "The Rift" filled with monsters and other unspeakable horrors, and can force other people to experience it, too.

-She can "Rift" small objects forward in time to where and when she needs them. She usually uses this with her sword.

Weakness- I'm actually keeping this to myself for once  ;)

Appearance- Tall, pretty, has dark green eyes and shoulder-length black hair. She wears a black cowl, and can usually be seen carrying an ornate sword.

The Dalles:

Sunspot

Actual Name: Richard Burke

Age: 32

Height: 6 feet

Hair: Blond

Eyes: Yellow (changed by Epic transformation)

Build: Epic normal (increased by the Epic transformation but otherwise unspectacular)

Power(s): Capable of emitting flashes of sunlight (UV and visible light) from his entire body or just concentrated from his hands. He can adjust the intensity of of the light, making him capable of simply seeing in the dark, blinding people, or even melting or sublimating objects. If he focuses, he can create an aura of light around him that can melt or vaporize potentially harmful stuff (like bullets), but cannot keep this up indefinitely. He's still vulnerable to energy attacks and the like when he does this. Secondary power of basically being immune to anything resembling his own powers (can see fine through intense light (also immune to photon illusionary Epics) and is essentially immune to heat)

Personality: Naturally introverted, though in some situations or with some people this might not hold true. He uses his powers frequently, so he does have all the standard Epic characteristics of arrogance and sociopathy. He likes to show off his powers (he's 'flashy.' *badum tss*)

Costume: Black leather jacket and jeans

Firearm(s): Glock 17

Blindside

Actual Name: Jacob Keyes

Age: 42

Height: 5-foot 10 inches

Hair: Black

Eyes: Blue

Build: Epic normal

Power(s):

Primary

Has the ability to instantaneously switch locations with another person. This transfers velocity as well. Can only be used on people he knows the exact location of (either is currently within visual range, has seen them very recently, or has enough information such as sounds that he is able to intuit their location).

Secondary

Limited precognition. Similar to Fortuity's danger sense reflexes, but also can be applied to non-dangerous stuff (e.g. can almost perfectly intuit the timing of his teleports).

Personality: Quick-witted and well-educated, jovial, likes to be in charge.

Costume: Jeans, blazer over a vest

Firearm(s): SIG P210-2

Is this where I claim and maintain my list of RPG characters? If not, just point me in the right direction.

Blinks

Epic

Real name: Leopold Rinsler

Primary ability: Light blinking. He has the ability to cause powerful, spontaneous flashes of light. He can use these as a weapon, by vaporizing stuff. He can also use them to teleport both himself, and other objects, but requires a line of sight of both the target and destination. He often snaps his fingers to add dramatic effect.

Secondary ability: Injury resistance. His body can take extreme amounts of punishment. His bones and organs are stronger than any normal human's. He can function despite the loss of large amounts of blood, and is resistant to poisons. He also heals faster than normal, taking only about a weak to heal a broken bone.

Tertiary ability: Super-fast blinking. He can blink much faster than any one else on the planet.

He is also a gifter.

Description: Tall, with medium length brown hair, and wrap-around sunglasses. Wears a long brown trench coat, and is normally clean-shaven.

Personality: Generally apathetic towards most things, the better aspects of his personality were brought out by his fiance. Now that she is dead, he is on a downward spiral. He is extremely fond of vinyl records, and is extremely proud of his extensive collection. He will kill anyone who messes with it.

Profile: Gunsmoke (High epic)

Name: Wes Johnson

Age: 54 Outfit: black jacket, trilby and cigar

Power: his entire body can disintegrate into black smoke. Prime invincibility. If shot, the bullet will hit his body and erupt out of him with a puff of smoke. Can release an infinite amount of smoke from his hands, using it to cover an area of land, he then can materialise in any part of that smoke.

Secondary power: Anything he shoots explodes into black smoke

History: travelled across the states attempting to carve a kingdom for himself. Finally settled in Corvallis and accepted a mundane post for an Epic of his power. He has ambitions of usurping the Queens, but knows he lacks the power. Plots and attempts to forge alliances to kill Rainmaker. He disallows his servants from Euphoria's blessing and suppresses anything that could make them laugh, sometimes resorting to cutting out their tongues.

Profile: Malevolence (lesser epic)

Name: Timothy Kave

Age: 23 Outfit: baggy shirt, ripped jeans and wool hat

Power: the ability to use clean, unbroken and reflective mirrors as doorways into a place he calls "the otherside". He can look through mirrors, spy on people and talk to them. The otherside is his domain, no one can pass through mirrors without Malevolence gifting his power. The otherside is a network between every mirror in the world. So he can take shortcuts between Oregon and let's say Tokoyo.

History: lived in Houston before Calamity, Timothy Kave was considered a teenage genius. He wasted his talent on plaguing powerful corporations and government agencies with cyber attacks, just to prove he could breach their computer defences. A year after Calamity, he received his power, becoming one of the first and most elusive Epic's. Few people even know he exists. He wishes he has a stronger power, like Steelheart or Nightsorrow, and jealously try's to manipulate other Epic's. He maintains his true gift was the sharp brain he was born with. Claims to have orchestrated the rise and fall of a lot of high Epic's and is proud of the fact that he has never had to kill a person, he manipulates others to do the dirty work.

Obsessed with food. Often his analogies include food items.

Was a key Epic during Obliterations reign of Houston and survived when the man lost his mind and destroyed the city. Malevolence strangely, locates and taunts Obliteration from behind mirrors on a regular basis, because Obliteration failed to kill him in Houston. He also claims to know Obliterations weakness, (He doesn't) this just keeps Obliteration hunting Malevolence.

After Houston travelled the world of mirrors, with a simple plan of seeing how many cities he could help destroy. Turned his attention to Oregon because of the brewing turf wars. Here to cause trouble and watch cities crumble.

Argon

Type: High Epic (but with very simple weakness)

Name: Matthew Archerfish - faked name he uses in USA, because Americans have trouble with pronouncing his real name.

Epic name: Argon

Age: 28

Height: 185cm (~6 feet)

Looks:

  • Eyes: steel grey
  • Hair: Blond, not too short, not too long, usually ruffled
  • Body build: athletic, he knows that with his weakness he can't rely on his powers too much, so he works out.
  • Clothing: Jeans and black leather jacket. If situation requires it, he's not afraid to wear something ugly but practical.

Powers:

Main power: absolute invulnerability - Argon is immune to anything that may harm him and to other Epics powers. He won't starve, won't suffocate etc. No matter if he knows about the danger or not, it won't harm him. You just can't do anything negative to him.

Secondary power: telekinesis - He can use powerful telekinetic abilities, the most damage he was able to do so far was bringing down a middle sized building by crushing all the walls on the first floor. When putting his mind to it he can squeeze a car to the size of a 1m cube. He can use his telekinesis to fly.

Tertiary power: Slightly increased reflex and dexterity. Nothing a well trained non-epic wouldn't be able to achieve.

Quaternary power: Cake. He can conjure cake from nothing. Any kind of cake (or pie). The amount of cake conjured at once is limited to roughly one plate. If he wants to, the cake will appear on a paper plate and with a plastic spoon.

Weakness:

Don't read if you can't pretend to not know, when writing characters around him.

Argon can be hurt by anyone who personally hates him. This means that an attacker has to:

  1. Know Argon at least a bit. Talked with him for some time, heard a lot valid information about him from someone.
  2. Has a grudge against him, has been hurt by him, the attacker has been witness to something that Argon did that may cause hatred.

This may seem a bit vague, so let me give some hypothetical situations.

  1. Argon walks through a crowded area and runs into an evil epic that feel insulted by this accident. This epic has a valid reason to hate Argon, after all he spilled his coffee because of him! But unfortunately for this epic, he doesn't know who Argon is. So he can even detonate an atomic bomb right next to his head, and Argon wont be harmed.
  2. Argon is working with some other Epic, their cooperation goes pretty well, but when they are done, this other epic decides to kill Argon, because he feels threatened by him. Too bad. The decision to kill Argon was made with cold blood, motivation to kill him is greed, fear or jealousy. Argon won't be harmed.
  3. Argon conjured a huge chocolate cake in his mansion. A young serving Vanilla girl ate the cake and died almost right away. She was allergic to peanuts. Her 12 years old Vanilla brother in rage, grief and hate picks up a knife and stabs Argon multiple times in his sleep. Argon is dead.

As you can see, Argon has to be very careful with his weakness. He can't risk people knowing his weakness, so he can't be too blunt with making everyone like him or not know him. But he has to make sure that he won't give anyone a really good reason to hate him.

How his weakness affects his powers?

  1. Invulnerability is negated by actions performed by person that hates Argon, but he is still safe from other threats.
  2. His telekinesis won't work near the hater.
  3. His dexterity and cake powers are not affected by anything. As a last resort he can throw a cake in the face of an attacker :)

History

He came to USA to study at MIT. After Epics begun to appear all over the world Matthew became one as well. During his Rendering he destroyed place the place he lived and killed many of his colleagues. When he calmed down a bit, he escaped away from civilization for some time in fear of people that knew him seeking vengeance. He wondered for a long time, avoiding too much contact with people. After some time he heard about Corvallis, the happiness and decided it's time to meet some people...

He hates imperial measuring system.

Drainer

Type: Scumbag/Pervert (lower) Epic
Name: ---
Epic name: Drainer
Age: 28
Height: 180cm
Looks:

  • Eyes: green, wears glasses
  • Hair: dark brown, more less to his neck, not reaching shoulders. He tries to grow a beard and mustache, but without much success.
  • Body build: skinny but not anorectic
  • Clothing: Everything with an expensive label. Not sure what he can get in Corvallis that looks expensive, but probably some kind of suit, to make him feel more important.

Powers:

Primary power: youth draining - Drainer can steal youth/life from Vanillas. He can make them older. The stolen youth is somehow stored, and he can give it back if he wishes to (he may give youth to any person, not necessarily the one he had taken it from). He can't give more youth than he had taken, however that is rarely a problem, since he mostly only takes it. To drain someone he has to have at least minimal skin contact with them. This power works only on Vanillas.

Secondary power: RAFO  (no, he does not wield Brandons superpower to answer people with RAFO, you just have to wait and see it in action  :P ) EDIT: No longer RAFO! The secondary power is regeneration using the life energy he absorbed off his victims. If he has enough stored up, it can save him from fatal injuries, as it can trigger automatically to save his life. However, healing takes a lot of this energy.

Tertiary power: terror supreme - A kind of aura making him much more scarier to people than he really is. It makes everyone around him more terrified and more obedient due to fear. Works on Epics too, however to lesser degree.

Weakness:

Ha ha ha... You wish

And my other character, not an Epic, but I want her data here nonetheless.

Summer (not an Epic)

Type: Vanilla (with bits of chocolate... so I guess... Stracciatella? :P)

Name: Summer Norling

Age: 22 (23 biologically, since drained by Drainer)

Height: 165cm (5,4 feet)

Looks:

  • Eyes: dark blue
  • Hair: black, wavy hair, reaching her shoulders. She has diagonal bangs and usually wears her hair in a ponytail
  • Skin: pale
  • Figure: smokin' hot
  • Clothing of choice: jeans or tracksuit bottoms and a hoodie or shorts and a t-shirt if it's hot. After all, with her job, she doesn't really crave the sexy look in her free time.

Sentry

Real name: Sophie Jones

Powers:

All-sight: Sentry is capable of "seeing" (and hearing) through images of herself. The medium of the picture is unimportant; whether it is a photograph, a drawing, a painting, a chalk image etc. She does not need to be responsible for making the image for this effect to work (though she does personally produce a lot of the "motivational" posters for it). Furthermore, the image in question does not need to be of a "minimum" quality; so long as it is intended to represent Sentry, it take's effect.

Technical Difficulties: An outreach of the above ability, Sentry's power's can have an impact upon electronic devices. She is capable of projecting an image of herself onto electronic screens (regardless of whether they are plugged in, turned on, or have any battery charge). In the case of screens, this results in her appearing as if being filmed or shot through a camera- in the case of phones, it's a projection of her voice. The same rules apply for screens as her usual use of All-sight, though she can't see through speakers/anything else which doesn't project an image of herself.

Weakness:

Spoiler
Making fun of her appearance. Basically, her weakness is body-shaming.

Background:

Corvallis

Gelliton

Age: 34

Gender: Female

Primary: Can create three different types of gels; one that hardens with pressure,  ballistics gel, and one that has some resistance to fire. She can produce about 8 liters of gel per second. She can manipulate color and luster of the gel.

Secondary: Manipulation of the gels, she can manipulate only one type of gel at a time, and a maximum of 500 liters of it.

Passive: When targeted by a projectile, ballistic gel is unconsciously formed around her, protecting her from impact. She cannot breathe when she is protected like this.

Her corruption manifest itself in a haughtiness and self-centered manner where she will thoughtlessly kill any vanilla who gets in her way. Basically she's a Petrified Slytherin.

Weakness: Red cars approaching within 25 feet.

Hello, all! I've created a new epic that i'm think will pop his horrible little head into Salem. I think i have to put him down here, so here goes!-

Real name

Soren Reed

Epic Name- Morpheus

Appearence- Tall, lany, olive skin, purple kaleidoscopic eyes. Wears round glasses to cover them.

Power set.

Sleep/Wakefulness manipulation- Can induce sleep or hyper awareness. Works at will with a range of 5 kms, and sleep works automatically within 2 metres

2. Mild Danger sense. Like a spider-sense. He knows when danger is coming, but can't well determine where or when or how

3. Instant sleep, and can regenerate quickly while sleeping

4. Dream manipulations-

Can induce paranoia or relaxation onto people when they are awake. A minor dream, as such. While people sleep he can project actual full-on dreams. He can project so many at once that you are incapacitated or die, also can appear to you in dreams in any form he chooses. (Can sorta kinda do inception-y rust like that). Also can project dreams so wonderful that you never want to wake up, and only can wake if you realise and acknowledge its falsity, and fight back.

Weakness- White cats

(See-Saw)

Primary ability: Invisibility.  His entire form goes out of being.  He cannot teleport, but can move while in this formless form.  Bullets go right through him while Invisible, and he can pass right through walls.  He can't be seen, obviously.

Secondary ability:  Gifter: Curse.  He can give this ability to people, either to inhibit or to help.

Passive power:  Sixth sense:  Can sense things coming at him at great speeds, and thus can use his Invisibilty to protect him from projectiles.

Weakness:  you choose!  :D

Heartsleeve (Salem)

Primary power: Can change the emotions of other people. More powerful when used on an individual. Example: Making one person extremely terrified to the point of insanity versus a general feeling of foreboding among a large group.

Secondary power: Accelerate healing. Not bulletproof, but could easily recover from a shot or two.

Weakness: being treated as inferior or humiliated.

Background: Became an epic in her later teens. Blonde hair, blue eyes, somewhat attractive. Mostly used as a hireling by higher epics, mostly to keep the people they rule over from rebelling or fighting back (as if that were even possible). A bit full of herself, but senses where to give in as far as talking back to her superiors. Figured out her weakness early on, due to her natural resistance to authority.

Pony:

Reckoners RP: Heartsleeve

Lightwood (Astoria)

Name: Lightwood

Epic Status: Low-ish Epic

Epic Powers: Plant-based powers. Can make plants, especially flowers, grow extremely quickly, even in inhospitable conditions. Mostly been used by higher Epics to grow foodstuffs. Does not need an existing plant to make something grow, but will take more time. Heightened reflexes, and immunity to purely plant-based damage, such as poisons, or thorns. Not immune to being hit by a plank of wood.

Weakness: Rhinos. Long story.

Description: Long, brown hair with green eyes.

Personality: Typically subservient, as long as her powers aren't stressed.

Background: Born in the UK, Cynthia Bartlett studied plant biology at the University of Cambridge. She was studying abroad in Oregon when Calamity happened. Now an Epic, Lightwood began serving under higher Epics in charge of various cities.

Stormgate

Tier Two meteorkinesis (weather control): Very good at manipulating weather patterns in a relatively small area (say, a city) but terrible in say, a room. He does have the ability to throw and mildly control lightning, as well as control the winds enough to fly.

Karma: if anyone tries to harm him in any way, the damage is instead done to whoever did it.

Mild teleportation: he can teleport anything, as long as it is in a dark area. He can pull a rifle from out of his robe, assuming he knows where it is and it is in a dark location. Basically, he can pull anything out of his pockets, as well as use shadows to teleport. If in serious danger, thoug, he simply pulls over his hood and teleports away.

Jack Renolds was a meteorologist pre-Calamity, based in Kansas. After Calamity, he joined with a company dedicated to making Epic technology. After he became an Epic, he understandably quit his job. He was collecting samples at the time in Oregon, so he decided not to destroy his old workplace, deciding instead to sell his DNA for technology. His weakness is...I'm still working on that.

BTW, he's already been ponied courtesy KoboldKing.

Peacegiver:

Epic Powers: Can emit an aura of peace around him, which instantly puts people at ease. When engaging in conversation with people, they open up and find him incredibly easy to talk to. When people look at him, he puts them at ease. When people speak of him (without him being present) people become calm. For vanillas this is practically mind control, but while interacting with epics he operates more like a skilled soother/rioter. His Prime Invincibility is that when someone is trying to kill him, he can use mind control to make someone view him as perfect, and they can't bring themselves to kill him. That is the only thing he can do when mind controlling them.

Night Terror:

Epic Powers: His power operates similar to the way Peacegiver's does, except he can emit auras of fear. He can cause illusions of things people fear (spiders, roaches, etc.). If he knows an epics weakness, he can fill that epic's mind with that fear. He CAN NOT inherently know what weakness an epic has. Similar to Peacegiver, when people speak of him or view him, they become scared. I've changed his Prime Invincibility to resurrection. When he resurrects, he briefly becomes more powerful, becoming a "living nightmare" of sorts.

Peacegiver and Night Terror are brothers.

Here a scene of the two of them using their powers.

Night Terror gazed down at the camp, populated by a handful of minor epics. He and his brother stood atop a ridge, studying the camp, judging what their next move would be. The two of them were on their way to some city, but Peacegiver wouldn't tell him where yet. He claimed they were making good progress, but when his servants, Adrian and Rachel, had been killed by these epics, Peacegiver wanted to make a detour. He had grown fond of those servants, despite the fact that they were vanillas. Night Terror turned to his younger brother. "How many do you count?"

His brother's soft eyes scanned the area below them. "I see five of them. One of them seems to have minor pyrokinesis, another appears to have turned his skin into bark." He chuckled softly. "I hope that you won't mind being killed, brother?"

Night Terror shook his head. He had expected that he would have to die. "Are we just going to walk right in?"

"Yes. Just follow me. Oh, and brother? When you become fear incarnate, don't kill the pyro. He's the one who killed Adrian and Rachel, burning their bodies until nothing was left but charred bones. If you don't mind, I'd like to kill this one."

Night Terror nodded his head as the duo began their walk down to the camp. Normally the two of them would be content simply scaring the epics off, but this time, it was personal. Night Terror whispered to his brother right before they entered the camp. "Terror or peace?'

Peacegiver turned, and smiled kindly. "Terror."

They entered the camp, and instantly five sets of eyes were upon them. Normally epics would challenge others who entered their camps. But Night Terror could see the uncertainty in their eyes. Peacegiver was draining them of their courage. With vanillas, Peacegiver could practically make them do anything he wished. With minor epics, he had to play with their emotions a bit. He could manipulate positive emotions and emit a sense of peace, he could make someone extremely happy and peaceful, or depressed and distraught. It helped having a brother who could emit auras of fear wherever he went. High epics were even more difficult still. Night Terror noticed a girl, perhaps sixteen years old, cowering behind the epic with bark for skin. Peacegiver's barely started using his powers. She must be a vanilla.

Peacegiver had noticed her as well. "Hello darling. Come here, you don't needn't be afraid." The vanilla was under his control. Peacegiver had stopped draining her courage, instead he caused her to see him as perfection. She was under his control. Now it was time to make these epics pay.

Night Terror emitted his aura of fear, but only lightly, he didn't want them terrified yet. Since these were only minor epics, Peacegiver could probably make a few of them kill each other. It was time for his mind games to begin.

"You there, pyro, what's your name?"

The man looked uneasy, but he complied. "You can call me Inferno."

Peacegiver nodded his head. "Inferno, that was quite a show you put on. Those two vanillas you killed were certainly asking for it." He paced as he spoke, and came to a stop in front of the man who covered his skin with bark. Night Terror knew where Peacegiver was going with this. damnation, this is not going to be pretty.

"Tell me, were you frightened when Inferno burned those two vanillas to a crisp?"

The man was visibly shaking. Inferno looked over, curious to see what the answer would be. The other two epics tried to back away slowly. This was were things got difficult. If Night Terror pushed to hard, the epics would bolt, running for there lives. If he pressed to lightly, they might muster up enough courage and strike before his brother's plan was finished. The two of them had to work together to insure that the epics remained frightened, but not scared enough to run away or strike out at them in desperation. "Of course I was scared. My skin's made of wood. Protects me against blunt force it does, but not fire."

A look of satisfaction crossed Inferno's face. Peacegiver gave a slight smile. "And tell me, while he was igniting those poor vanillas, that look of hatred, the look of loathing you gave him, was it intentional?"

The poor fool was taken aback. "What are you talking about? I never-"

He never finished what he had to say. The fireball hit him right in the chest, knocking him to the ground. As he struggled to stand, Inferno put a foot on his chest, and unleashed a torrent of fire onto his skin of bark. The mans screams filled the night air, as the other two epics looked on in shock. Peacegiver simply looked content, smiling, as the fire burned in his eyes. He spoke to Night Terror. "Well brother, it would appear they are not as strong as we had once perceived them to be. Perhaps you won't need to die after all. Why don't you go ahead and finish those two off?"

Night Terror nodded, and summoned a swarm of spiders. There weren't actually any spiders, but these two were so terrified, they wouldn't notice the illusion. They screamed as the false spiders crawled over them, scratching at their faces. This is pathetic. Night Terror removed the gun from his belt, and put the two screaming dogs out of their misery.

He turned to Peacegiver, giving him confirmation to these two were dead. Inferno continued to unleash fire on the poor man, who had stopped screaming some time ago. His brother nodded, and raised his own gun and pointed it at Inferno's head. He noticed, however, and turned, pointing a burning hand in Peacegiver's direction. As he prepared to release the fireball, he faltered, and the flames left his hands. He looked at his palms, a confused expression on his face. Peacegiver simply smiled, and planted two bullets into Inferno's head. One for Adrian, and one for Rachel.

Night Terror observed the scene around them. Four dead epics, one of them still burning on the ground. The vanilla stood nearby, not looking worried in the slightest. She was under Peacegiver's control. She'd perceive anything he did, even murder, as perfect. Peacegiver approached her. "Tell me, my dear, what is your name?"

She stood before him, completely in awe. "My name's Caroline."

"A beautiful name. Tell me Caroline, would you accompany my brother and I?" He didn't need to ask her. He could command her to follow them, and she'd do it.

      Caroline smiled. "I'd love to."

"Wonderful." His brother turned to face him. "I think we'll camp her for tonight, Night Terror. After all..." He gazed at the remains of the epic who was set ablaze by Inferno, still alight. "We already have a campfire."

astoria:

Ragnarok.

synopsis.

a teenager of seventeen years with a powerful telekinetic perk, limited telepathy, and the ability(or the effect) that when he uses his power, water is attracted to that place.

details:

his TK is powered by his considerable force of will. it is powerful and precise enough to rip things apart molecule by molecule, though it requires immense concentration to do so when the target is sentient, and even more when the target is an epic. His TK can also be used to reinforce his body, granting super strength, enhanced physical perks(except senses), and flying. When he uses his power, it is visible as red fire that moves like lightning(in a zigzaggy pattern, not necessarily as fast). his TK cannot sense objects.

limited emotional manipulation (This is why I think he might be OP) he can make allies hate each other. effect lasts until one dies or they both manage to control themselves.

water attraction. This is a large part of why his name is Ragnarok.  dont worry, he cant flood all of Portland, just a few streets would have an inch or so of water.

he is under the direct manipulation of an epic called Stormeggedon who has commanded him that he should be formal. other wise he would be a total NERD!

Role: he is currently on the hunt for powerful epics, a hunt which led him to Astoria (where everyone's OP).

Ragnarok smashed through the wall at a speed he swore was Mach three.

“Flip,” he said, climbing to his feet through the rubble. “This is unfortunate.”

He turned as he saw the Epic charge for him like a rhino. A stupid rhino, with his head held low. Brute was just that, a Brute.

Ragnarok shook himself free of some of the dust. This was ridiculous. He was restricted. His hand was tied behind his back. He couldn’t kill Brute at this moment. He had explicit orders not to.

That didn’t mean he couldn’t rough him up a bit.

Ragnarok threw his hand out towards the charging moron, a red net of fire-lightning-like energy twisting around his arm. His telekinesis was like that.

Ragnarok grabbed the Epic from twenty feet away and smashed him into the ground, the concrete thoroughly smashed from the force of it. Then the building to his left with a similar force, then right, left, right, down, down, down.

He raised the epic into the air, his clothing tattered from the beating. Ragnarok opened his mouth to speak.

Then changed his mind and repeated the beating process. A few moments later, he raised the epic into the air again.

“Hey, are you done struggling?” Ragnarok asked, “I’m getting bored,”

“I refuse to take orders from a child,” Brute said.

“I’m not a child!” he smashed the epic down one more time. Brute was a strength epic. Could lift a building off the ground and swing it like baseball bat, but like most epics of his power type never realized, strength was nearly useless against a telekinetic, or TK as he liked to call it,  holding them in the air.

                He was also invulnerable.

                Classic.

“It’s not me the orders will be coming from, but the one whose orders I follow.” Ragnarok dropped the epic, walking forward towards him until he stood above him, at the edge of the crater. “Stormeggeddon holds that position herself.”

“Stormeggeddon can sparking go to-,” Rag never heard what was next, only the roar as Brute launched himself towards him with startling force. Ragnarok met him halfway, grabbing his arms with strength enhanced by his TK. The air cracked with the force of it, and Ragnarok was forced onto one knee.

Crap. Ragnarok twisted his shoulders, using the other epics own weight against him as he threw him to the ground. He couldn’t let this be a close quarter’s fight.

He leapt back as bright red threads of fire-lightning surged from his body, connecting from one limb to another like tesla coils connecting. Mid-air, Ragnarok flipped once before coming to a stop in the air a dozen or so feet above Brute.

“This is your last chance, Brute!” Ragnarok shouted “Join or die!”

With a shout, Brute leapt towards Ragnarok with a super strength enhanced jump. Ragnarok moved to grab him out of the air with his TK, but he lost focus as Brute hit him with the force of a cannon.

Ragnarok growled as they were both launched into the air at incredible speed. The ground flying away beneath their feet as they passed through clouds and into the coldness of the sky. He shoved Brute away with his enhanced TK strength and he shot away. Ragnarok grabbed the epic with his external TK and yanked Brute towards him, he swung a fist and smashed it into Brutes face. Brute shouted in defiance and hit him in the chest, splitting the two of them apart.

The wind roared passed Ragnarok ears, he grabbed Brute again with his TK and threw him towards the ground, now hundreds if not a thousands, of feet underneath them.

With an enraged growl, Ragnarok shot towards him, trailing threads of red energy behind him. He would not allow his prey to escape.

Soaring towards the ground, Ragnarok fired a shot of telekinetic energy, basically a punch of his will and mind, towards the falling Brute, accelerating his speed until he heard a deafening BOOM!

They passed the barrier of the clouds, and saw the open water below them, but before he could react, he hit the water, hard.

and also this: His disintegration power.

Ragnarok was enjoying his sandwich when the wall began flying towards him.

In retrospect, it was quite the flip. Usually he was flying at the wall, not the wall at him.

He sighed and dropped his sandwich, this is what he got for takin a break. He stood, pushing down the hood of his hoodie.

The wall came down, smashing into the ground in front of him, it skipped and moved as if to cut him in half.

With a burst of focus, Ragnarok wrapped his TK around the object.

The moments before the object crashed into him, he shredded it, spinning it in a dozen different directions, bulged it in the middle and did every conceivable method of destruction his subconscious could think of. It exploded into fine powder with the force of it.

The dust kept moving, passing around both Ragnarok and the table he was standing next to. It passed by him, moving around his telekinetic bubble that he put up. Eventually it dissipated, leaving Ragnarok to his sandwich once more.

and this:

Ragnarok looked into the eyes of the vanilla. every time he looked, he got a little piece of him, a small portion of his humanity. what makes them sane. the only thing that kept him from snapping and killing the man next to him.

                 Which was the goal anyway.

Ragnarok caught the mans eye again, and he saw something snap.

Antimatter.

primary power: exotic explosive force redirection
creates explosions that he is able to channel into a high powered energy attack. He can also control how powerful the explosion is.

secondary power: Reincarnation.
When he dies he comes back five hours later in full fledged Rending mode.

tertiary power: super indexed IQ
"If Einsteins IQ was in the stratosphere, Antimatter's was somewhere on the far edge of the moon."

Appearance: tattered peacoat, close shave, boots.

Vice: he has no Idea who he is and has no memories past his first rending.

Antimatter spun to face his assailant, a burst of fusion energy ready to rage from his fingers. His new victim was someone he’d never seen before, he wore a black hooded duster and green disks of energy spun around each hand.
Antimatter fired an explosion towards the man, who flipped over it like some sort of acrobat. Antimatter ducked another energy disk, thrown by the other epic.
This is getting tiresome. He thought, sending another fusion blast from his hands. Then he activated his second power.
Immediately the world around him was lit up in yellow and red lined. Yellow for things that had happened, and red for things that he, in his heightened cognitive setting, could calculate would happen.
Antimatter slid underneath another energy disk and came up on both feet, firing a pair of blasts towards the epic. He saw the man’s next moves before they could happen, like a yellow silhouette outlining the movements before they could happen.
Everything was outlined. The cars around gave detailed description of their year, manufactioner, and their ability to be driven. The buildings became mapped. He suddenly was aware of what street he was on, which would be the best way to escape.
Or the best way to win.
There was a problem with that, though. He couldn’t guess everything. On average he had a seventy-three percent rate of successful foretelling. It was hardly a sure fire mean of success.
He also died twenty-seven percent of the time he used it. Seventy-three percent successful, twenty-seven percent deadly.
Antimatter moved, dodging a disk with deft ease. Projectiles were easy. They always had a certain path they would follow, that made it easier. The simpler the math was the more he could predict what was next.
People, on the other hand, where harder. Always acting illogically, it was harder for his enhanced mind to work with random, erratic, illogical behavior and for that reason he didn’t use it all that often.
But someone using repeating patterns of acrobatics and martial arts?
He was just asking for it.
The man spun, jumped in the air and landed, sending another disc towards Antimatter, who dodged them with a mere turn of his shoulders. He sent a blast that destroyed the ground where the acrobat had been moments before.
Before the man could even touch the car that had been the landing point of his latest flip, Antimatter had blown it out from underneath him. He landed with a flop.
Antimatter was on him in an instant, with his boot pressed firmly against his back.
“Who are you?” Antimatter growled.
The man groaned. “Names Vengeance, you slontze.”
“Well, Vengeance, you are about to die.”
There was a click from behind him. The click a semi-automatic crowburner sidearm, .45 cal. One with the new electron compressed magazines designed for handguns.
“Nah,” Vengeance said,” just waiting for a buddy of mine.”

Harkness

Simply wont die. or disappear.

in production.

Citadel.

has the fastest reaction time recorded among epics.

can transmute non organic material into an inertia changing metal. when this metal comes into contact with anything thats not him its inertia is increased by 4x

The building was dark, abandoned by the tenants who had once occupied it. And for good reason. Its slate black walls riddled with bullet holes and scorch marks. A street battle had taken place here. As dark and dirty as the building it had been next to.

But that had little to do with the building being empty.

Citadel stepped into the building, the door had been splintered in the chaos of the day. Stormeggeddon and the Knights Blasphemy were getting bolder by the hour.

Citadel walked slowly through the wreckage of the building. Smashed furniture and overturned tables dominated the room. There had been lootings at first, when the city had first fell silent, but those hadn’t lasted long.

There was a flight of stairs, still intact. The steel hard carbon was not only everywhere in this city and cheap because of it, but it was also incredibly hard to harvest.

Citadel made his way up the stairs. His boot clinked against an object on one of the steps. He knelt down, feeling in the dark for whatever he had kicked. Finally he came up with a spent ammo casing.

His fist closed around the casing. So the battle had come in here had it? He had found no bodies. But that meant little when the Knights Blasphemy where fighting against you.

Citadel walked up the stairs, kicking aside spent cartridges without regard for stealth. He needed to find Jackson, to make sure the old general wasn’t dead.

He heard the coughing immediately as he entered the first floor. He pulled out a side arm –a Crowburner S-15, with electron compressed magazine and experimental firing chamber—and made his way through the halls.

He followed the sound of the coughing into one of the hotel rooms. There he sat, Jackson, laying on a bed that had survived the scrounging. He was on his side, coughing blood onto the mattress.

Citadel lowered his sidearm and immediately noticed the armored figure on the floor. A Knight. Its head was missing.

“You dirty dog. You actually managed to kill It,” Citadel whispered. But as quiet as his voice was, it was still enough to wake the old general out of his pained slumber. The general shot up, bringing about his left hand brandishing a pistol. He fired.

As fast as the general was, Citadel was faster. Much faster. He twisted his torso faster than a normal person could blink, and the bullet missed him by barely an inch. He fired his own weapon, knocking the gun out of the generals hand.

The General spasmed once and fell back down heaving up blood and whatever else was in his stomach. Jackson looked at Citadel and recognition finally dawned in his eyes.

“Citadel,” he said wearily “I should have known you’d come looking for me. Idiot.”

“You’re dying of the sickness.” Citadel said, kneeling at his bedside and ignoring his commanding officers words. “What happened to your ring? It should have protected you.”

The general looked confused, then held up a hand. No. Not a hand, but a stump, wrapped in what appeared to be bloody cloth.

“I see,” Citadel said.

“No you don’t,” the general winced and coughed again. “But I got the blasting idiot. You tell them that… when you… get… back…” The old man fell asleep.

“I will,” Citadel stood up, he looked at his handgun, then at the general.

Then without another hesitation he raised the handgun and shot General Jackson in the head.

Citadel turned and left the room. His hand gun tightly gripped in his fist. It had been too late for the general. The sickness had too much of a hold on him, to save him. It had been the best mercy he could give him.

It had been a mercy he had given to hundreds.

The Hunter.

Mark Joshua West

A vanilla, with crackshot pistol skills, lots of explosives and stealth skills.

he talks almost as crazy as funtimes.

"what is this?" he asked the epic.

        she just giggled and disappeared.

Mark frowned at the rifle she had given him. he lifted it into the air, aiming it at the nearest lampost, he squeezed the trigger.

the lampost light exploded, and yellow white goo splatters across the ground. he sniffed a bit that had landed on his arm.

       Bananas.

he had a gun that fired bananas.

"goodness gracious me, that is beautiful." he turned to face Vengeance, "All we need now is a candy cane,  a five gallon bucket of Baskin robins, and a lot more bananas!"

"Hunter," vengeance said, "You're an insane piece of work, you realize this, right?"

Mark didnt reply, instead looking to Vengeance while wiggling his eyebrows in a wave like pattern.

TwiLyghtSansSparkles said in the questions thread to put the profile and a scene of an epic in development here, so here it is;

GOLEM:

Epic Name: Golem

Real Name: Niels Jackson

Age: 15

Primary: Material Shift

Has the ability to change the matter in his body to a material he’s touching. This is temporary; He can change into a solid for about half an hour, a liquid for about 15 minutes, a gas for about 2 (he is off-color; he looks kind of like light smoke). It takes about 15 minutes for him to be able to transform again.

Secondary: Increased Physical Abilities

He can move about 3x faster than a normal person, is 5x stronger, 6-7x more enduring and much more agile.

Appearance:

Light blonde hair. Blue eyes. Athletic build. Often looks lost in thought. Usually wears a running shirt and jeans.

Modus Operandi:

Wants to be able to beat anything. Trains constantly to be able to do so.

CHASMFIEND:

Name: Chasmfiend

Age: 23

Appearance: Has a very angular face, and eyes that are slanted like an elves'. His ears are noticebly pointed, and his hair is stained violet from his beasts, blood. His skin is marbled with violet as well, but is mostly a pale silvery color.

Primary Power: Bestial Creation

Only able to create an enormously large 18-legged beast that has a nearly impenetrable shell. It has large claws on the front four legs, and it's carapace is spiked all the way down, and has a large emerald in its chest.  If killed, he can summon it again in 15 min. He controls it with mind control, but can only control it.

Secondary Power #1: Earthshattering

Can cause the earth to split open, creating a very large canyon or chasm large enough for his beast. It takes him a good 15 min. to fully open one. They do not close back up again.

Secondary Power #2: Property Enhancing

He can enhance an object's properties, making it harder, sharper, stronger, or such. He can also do this to himself or someone else to make them stronger, faster, or such.

Secondary Power #3: Healing

He heals quickly, and his touch can increase the healing speed of another person.

Weakness: Extreme storms/disasters cause it so his powers don’t work, but Chasms and Enhancements continue. (Example of Extreme Disaster: 7.5 Earthquake, Lvl5 Hurricane, LvlF4 Tornado, etc.)

Outfit: A very large suit of enhanced armor that is nearly unbreakable, and an extremely large enhanced sword that's very light and can cut through nearly anything like its air.

Positive Traits (and Corrupted): Honorable (Completely Negated), Patient (For traps, not lines), Protective (of Himself)

Negative Traits: Pessimistic, Secretive, Ireful (Easily roused to Anger)

Before Calamity, Darren Jarnot (JAR-no) was an starting architect that was trying to build walls and buildings  that could withstand Hurricanes, Earthquakes, and whatever else earth threw at them, so that he might finally feel safe. When he turned, he ended up tearing down his structures, and moved to Oregon, where a lot fewer large storms happen.

Scene for example:

Chasmfiend was looking at the sunset. It was a nice pink that day, and he could finally stop traveling. His beast was lying down next to him, asleep. He had arrived in southern Oregon, and was a little northwest of the town McDermitt. Not quite to where he was going, but closer. A lot closer.

He suddenly heard the shot of a gun, and felt his armor get pushed forward. There would be no dent; his armor had never let him down, and probably never would. He got up instantly, looking for the source of the gunshot. There, to the west- on that mountain, He thought. The beast stirred slightly. Wake up, you brute. Chasmfiend told in his mind. Quicker than one would think a creature this large would be able to move, it stood on sixteen small, pointy legs, and four very large, clawed ones. After him. Another gunshot. Tiny splinters of carapace flew from the creatures’ head. It didn’t slow or waver. Not unless it gets shot in the eye, and then it uses smell. The sniper, a normal human by the looks of it, turned to run, and suddenly ran into a large man suited in metal.

“Y-you! How?” He stammered. Chasmfiend brought his sword up, and slammed it down, but the human rolled to the side first. The sword hit stone, but kept going, until the entire blade was buried. Chasmfiend drew it again. The man had gotten out a pistol, and shot through the faceplate. Chasmfiend picked the man up, and the man saw a glimpse of the horror underneath. His face was silvery, and marbled with purple. The wound had hit his eye, but was closing rapidly. Chasmfiend ripped his head off, and threw the body over the mountain side. The beast found it, and ate it. Come, He commanded. He stretched his arms out, and slowly, as the earth creaked, the ground opened. The beast went first, and he lay by the beast again. Time to finish their rest.

Name: Shatter Shot

Primary Power:Can turn metal to glass and vice versa

Secondary Power: turns pretty much invisible in the shade

Appearance:light blue eyes, red hair. wears basic T-shirt and Jeans

Modus Operandi:always carries a gun with her(mainly pistols). keep light glass(rounded like bullets) with her, so she ca turn them into metal, fill them with gun powder, and shoot them

Short scene detailing how her powers work in combat:

Shatter Shot snuck through the Alleyway, following her target. her gun was ready in her hand; she was unseen sofar. she just needed to get a little closer.... she brought up her pistol, turnedher glass bullet to metal and fired. her target jumped in confusion, Shatter Shot grunting as she missed. her heart pounded before she remembered she was invisible. she shoved in another shot, turning it to metal as it slid in. she fired. her shot flew true, and, with practiced timing, the bullet turned to glass, and shattered in the chest of her target. SHe shoved her gun back in it's place, walking awawy with a satisfied smile.

(How does this work?)

EPICS:

ThunderSpear

Name: Arge

Epic Name: ThunderSpear (Very epic, I know)

Primary: Temporarily alters nearby materials in an area around him, roughly 10 m diameter (probably will need to change that though). This makes them highly conductive, and can actually increase the strength of the electrical charge going through. When combined with Secondary, explosion is bigger. Can only be used if he is angry

Secondary #1: Can shoot a bolt of lightning, exploding on contact. Releases an electrical discharge, stunning the few people that survive the lightning and shorting out any electrical stuffz

Secondary #2: Can create up to one indestructible spear, which he can use to channel his secondary #1 into the ground directly around him instead of launching a bolt. If he loses the spear, he can create a new one, destroying the old one

Passive(s): Immune to electric shock (dur); if he throws his spear, it will fly back; resilient skin*

*Bullets, swords, etc. don't hurt him. Generic explosions can cause him to stumble, but don't actually harm him. However, attacks that are more energy based can harm him, such as the gauss rifle used in Steelheart. Epic abilities that are energy based hurt him, though not as much as they would a vanilla (as in, he isn't destroyed, but will probably be pretty banged up. Same for guns of that type).

Weakness: Hint: It has legs

Effect of Weakness: All powers negated. No longer immune to electricity. Resilience partially negated, fully negated if weakness is exploited fully (will explain to GMs)

Appearance:
Roughly middle height, around 5 ft 10.
Long, curly rusty red hair (a very dark red, nearing brown) tied back in a ponytail. When it has been out of the ponytail for long enough, it reverts to massive ringlets (that’s just a fun fact—it’s never out for long enough :P).
He has brown eyes, and slightly tanned skin.
He wears a slightly green wide-brimmed hat which can be buttoned up on the side to allow for a large rifle (though he usually doesn’t like shooting. And yes, the hat is actually naturally slightly green).
When incognito, he wears a dark, full-body trench coat. Otherwise, he wears a dark t-shirt, over which is a black jacket, and jeans.
On his left wrist there is a watch made with a special insulated metal which resemble stainless steel.
When he goes full epic mode, his eyes glow yellow, and he hovers in the air slightly (that is just a side effect of electrically charging the air around him—not a true power), though just an inch or two.

Personality:

Positive: When he tries, charismatic. Also highly ambitious, though that fits under both. Third is focus—if he decides he wants something, he doesn’t stop until he gets it

Negative: In addition to typical epic corruption, he is callous, though he doesn’t intentionally kill vanillas—he just doesn’t care about them. If he is attacked with anything stronger than a rocket launcher, he gets really, as in, really, angry. Third, easily distracted unless he is in his hyperfocus mode.

MO: Generally just floats (not literally) through an area, scoping it out for anything he wants. If he finds something he wants (assuming it is an object) he walks up and grabs it. If the person resists, he electrocutes them, then walks away. If they aren’t electrocuted, he pulls his spear out of its back sheath, then stabs them. All of this he does without showing any emotion. If the person is an epic (i.e., they didn’t die from his spear) he launches a lightning bolt at them. If they continue to say no, he goes full fight mode, takes the object, destroys the area, then leaves. If they actively resist, he reaches the fight stage sooner.

Example for Combat (NOTE: this is from a vanilla’s perspective until the fight)

The door to the burger house burst open, and a tall, well-tanned man walked in. “Epic,” I thought to myself. “Not again."
He called out, “What is your best? Prepare one immediately.”

I replied, doing my best to stay calm, “Of course. Do you mind pickles?”

He smirked. “No.”

“Just a few minutes then,” I said, scurrying to the kitchen.

Suddenly, the whole room darkened. “Crud,” I said. Not aloud of course—I was technically under ShadowBreaths protection (he is going to be my next—you get a teaser here! Just remember that this is an example, and not cannon to the RP) and didn’t want to anger him.

“What are you doing here, puny epic?” he said—already his shadows were beginning to form around him.

“I just wanted a burger. Is that too much to ask? Oh, and I’m ThunderSpear. You would be…?” the Epic, who I now know as ThunderSpear, challenged.

Aloud, I mused, “ThunderSpear…where have I heard that before?” One of my cooks replied, “He stopped in at StrikeBurst’s place a few weeks back. Nothing was left.” (I might make StrikeBurst as well, but she’s further out. Or he, not sure XD)
“Oh.”

Meanwhile, ShadowBreath was replying, “A burger…that is fine. But here, you have to pay to get one. As for my name…I AM SHADOWBREATH.”

“Nice to meet you, Mr. Breath. Though I ask, why should I pay? Or do you have some sort of feeling for this establishment? It would be a shame if I had to destroy it.”
“As if you could...”

(3…2…1…FIGHT)
Shadows swarmed across the floor, sweeping towards ThunderSpear. ThunderSpear drew his spear and twirled it around him, small bolts of lightning striking around him, dispersing the shadows. ThunderSpear thrust his spear towards ShadowBreath, releasing a massive bolt of explosive lightning. The bolt sent ShadowBreath flying backwards, and before he could recover from the shock, ThunderSpear was on him, stabbing again and again with his spear, never giving ShadowBreath a chance to get up.
All of a sudden, he heard a sound, barely a breath, behind him. He spun around, barely blocking the sword strike that seemed to come from no-where. With a roar, he made the entire building superconductive. He stabbed his spear into the ground, channeling a massive bold of lightning. The entire building erupted with force, as a large chunk of the nearby town blacked out—including many nearby people.
When the dust cleared, nothing remained of ShadowBreath or the famous burger house except for a crater. ThunderSpear was gone.

HUMANS:

Nijo

Name: Nijo

Gender: Male

Age: 20

Appearance:

  • Close-fitting black clothes (think typical Ninja)
  • Sash around his waist (for sai)
  • Slightly over average height (~5'/10")
  • Lanky (as in, thin, but not underfed. Due to high metabolism)
  • Dark brown hair, roughly shoulder length
    • When not wearing his head cloth, he keeps it in a ponytail
  • Brown eyes
  • Pale skin, but not quite pasty white

Weapons:

  • Bo (Japanese for pole, roughly 6' long. Prefers those made of oak, but will make do with available materials)
  • Sai (A thin dagger with two prongs curving out from the hilt, uses two. Prefers those made of steel, but will use lesser metals if he has to)
  • Good at hand-to-hand, but not great at ground fighting

Skills:

  • Fast reflexes (still human though)
  • Strong, but nothing exceptional (kicks hurt though)
  • Good at basic acrobatics, but mostly just the kind of stuff useful in staying hidden and/or getting away fast
  • Can sprint pretty well, but not super fast (human 'super'). Better at long distance running, can keep up a good lope for a long time

Organization:

As of yet, none. Will try to remember to update if he joins a group (or an epic, though that's unlikely)

Interests:

  • Teaching people Karate (If anyone wants that to be a part of an RP, I can actually have him give reasonable lessons, we would need to use Google Docs for that though)
  • Finding more Martial Art masters to learn from
  • Hanging out with pretty girls (kinda a must for a single guy :P)
  • Beating up people taking advantage of less policed areas (i.e., stealing, rape, murder, etc.), though tries to avoid fighting epics

Thanks for reading, and feel free to message me with any input on my characters.

Bai!

  • 3 weeks later...

Only one epic as of now, but hopefully more in the future.

Corvallis

Epic Name: Falchion
Real Name: Dirk Alder
Age: 19 yo.
Teamed up with: Cannon Fodder

Appearance: 5' 7," with black hair and pure white eyes. They still work just fine, and nobody knows why they are white. He has been working out and using swords since he was three, so he has plenty of muscle to use them, and it shows. He usually wears light clothing, a t-shirt and jeans that don't inhibit his movement, as he has no need for armor. The t-shirt is usually bright red with a single black spot at the center. His jeans usually have holes in the knees, but whether that's intentional or purely happenstance is unknown. He also usually has a belt with two sheaths on the sides, two on the back, and several pouches full of materials on it as well. He also has a long sheath on his back.

Primary Power: Can create 10 sets of portals, and an extra unlinked one. To create a portal, he just wishes that it exists, where, what size, (size is limited to be about his size, but can be bigger) shape, facing, and what portal it connects to. He can travel through his portals, as well as his portals transporting matter and energy. His portals don't affect other epics, acting as a forcefield instead. A smaller portal can connect to a larger portal, but if the small one is too small, he wouldn't be able to go through. but light and sound still go through. He has to see somewhere to create a portal there, and he can dismiss them at will, without having to see them. He is able to use these portals in multiple other ways not stated here, but those are the basic abilities of using them. One portal can only link to one other portal. (Think invertible function.)

Passive Defensive Power: when he would be hit by something, a portal appears automatically, the perfect size to absorb it. This is not constrained in size, but he cannot activate it consciously. There is no limit to how many of these portals can be summoned at a time. These portals are permanently linked to an alternate "Void" dimension, so anything that would hit him ends up in there. The portals are only open as long as something is going through them, and shuts as soon as there isn't. They react to epics the same way as his standard portals. These only activate to damage that would be inflicted, even indirectly, or accidentally, by something sentient besides himself. (So him stubbing his toe in the morning still happens.)

Minor Passive Power: Has the ability to know when, the general direction, and the range when somebody is talking bad about his swords.

Weakness: Not having a sword/knife within 10 meters of him.

Weapons: Butterfly Swords, Sai, Kunai, and Claymores.

Abilities: He has trained exclusively in bladed weapons since he was a young child, and has achieved almost perfect mastery in his chosen types. His particular style involves destroying the enemies opportunities to attack, (take out their arms, weapon, etc.) and then deal the final blow. But when attacking epics, he always goes for the kill first, and then tries to keep distance while dealing damage with hit-and-run maneuvers, trying to figure out the enemies capabilities. He is also extremely capable with his portals, and uses them while fighting to great extent, making it possible to attack from any angle.

Backstory: His father grew up as part of a group that promoted sword mastery above all else, and learned the forms, but due to an injury at an early age, he was not able to use them all. So when he had a son, he began planning the training regime to bring up his son to participate in world tournaments and win, showing their style of swords to be the best. This continued until the boy was about 17, and had won multiple tournaments, including several... less legal ones. When he became an epic. He had always silently grumbled that he never had a choice in his life, (he loved swords, and would have followed them anyway, but hey, the kid wants to at least have the opportunity to make that decision,) and when he became an epic, he killed his father first. After his spree, he settled down for a while to train further with swords and with his new powers. Now he feels that he is ready, and has set his sights upon Corvallis.
Personality: Quite easy-going as epics go, and has no problem making light (Think feather, but lighter. This guys conversations flit around like a hummingbird on caffeine.) conversation with other people he deems his "equal." Or people that he's about to kill. His epicness emerges when someone mentions his swords in a bad light, or talks bad about them, etc. In that case, he will immediately turn "dark," and attempt to kill them, unless he is sure that he cannot beat them, in which case he barely restrains himself, and asks them to remove their comment. If they continue, he will attack them regardless of strength. Doesn't seek after money or power, but does pursue great swords with a vengeance, doing almost anything to add them to his collection.
