That wealth of breath, did they actually need it in the end, I though bone kept the breath used to awaken it?

I bet the God King converts to Austere, he does live in a solid black palace.

Hallandren is a very valuable location and kingdom, so those trying to attain power in Kuth and Huth, would want it for themselves. The area sounds to be in trouble, it seems that Kalad phantoms could easily help them take over the area eventually. WHat other countries were involved in the many war might cause trouble?

well, the god-king has the phantoms to be his army, but the 50,000+ breaths are part of his claim to rule. they're the inheritance passed down by the line of god-kings from the peacegiver. he may not have needed them to deal with the lifeless, but i'm sure if he'd had to, he could've taken care of them all with his awakening.

that said, i do agree that huth and kuth will be angling to move in on hallendren, what with one of the five scholars teaching them things about awakening. can't wait to see how vasher and vivenna deal with all that.

This is all true. It's entirely likely that there are external threats to Hallandren, especially with the development of other awakening techniques. Internal threats, it seems to me, are much less likely now, though. There's nothing like being attacked to bring a country together.

As for the wealth of breaths, it does give Susebron enormous personal power. Using it, he was able to single-highhandedly stop the coup within the palace grounds itself. That kind of power is very, very real. It's symbolic power is also useful though, as Sublesser noted.

So it seems we all believe that the thrones of Idris and Hallendren will be united, the kingdoms of Kuth and Huth were said to have fallen during the many war, so would be ideal targets of further expansion, assuming these lands are on the new border.

It doesn't matter if it's out of date or if it's been said before. We enjoy contributions! In fact if two seperate people come up with something on their own, than it becomes more likely (to me anyways) to be true. So go ahead! Make guesses, speculations and random ideas. We want to hear your ideas.

EDIT- I repeated repeated a phrase.

What Zaz said. It's easy for fan-forums to start navel-gazing into their pet theories. Bringing in new ideas is cool. If it's been said before, the polite thing for us to do is to link you to the previous thread. (I guess I'd better actually do that in the future.) That said, you could well have something new. There are a lot of things which we have discussed which have gone nowhere, and could benefit from a new insight.

  • 10 months later...

I don't know about the kingdoms uniting just yet.  I think it's going to need a few more generations of intermarrige for these two countries to relax around each other.  It's good that Seb so obviously loves Siri though, that sort of imagary can be very powerful, if couched properly.  I'd like to see some of Siri's other siblings, perhaps the middle monk one (hereafter known as mm) can come visit?  The heir is obv. not going anyplace and they've lost Viv, but I can definatly see some interesting situations with such a devout Austerean coming to visit.

And don't forget, this whole gambit pileup/war has been a Pahn Khal conspiracy.  I can see that turning very nasty, how deep does the betrayal go?  How willing are the Hall-ers to look past/forgive what might have been disastrous for them?  I bet there are reprisals, even if Seb and Siri want to go easy.

Which brings to mind the question of how much everyone actually knows about what happened.  According to the general population the lifeless go marching off North and then a bit later those statues come to life and chase them all down!  Now bringing stone to life, that much stone too if most certinaly the work of the God-King, but why?  Obv. someone got the Lifeless under their control.   That everyone knows, it would be hard not to, how much else of what happened is actually known to the city at large?  I assume the various priesthoods are gossipy enogh that most of them have the basics at least.  With Lightsong and Blushweaver gone, I'm not sure you'll find any other gods who we can count on to be interested, but maybe Seb can shake them out of their complacency.

I could see Hall-ers and Idrians as a whole backing up and shaking their heads saying, 'did we nearly just do that?'  but not for too long, not longer than a year, are Seb and Siri savvy enough to take advantage of that grace period?  Or are they too busy staring into each others eyes?

I'm not sure I like Viv dissappering like that.  At some point Siri will get in contatct with her father, but Siri doesn't know much of what happened either.  Perhaps Viv could consider a farewell letter or something?  And at some point will we get to know what The girls Father was actually thinking?  Was it really just, 'I can't send my favorite'?  What does he think now?  Arguably the deal kind of worked out, at the price of the daughter he was planning on 'losing' and the one he wasn't sure what to do with he's probably going to get some very concilitory and 'heartfelt' advances from the Hall-ers  wanting to tie themselves to the country of their new queen.  I predict some very nice trade agreements.

This is too long and I've still got ideas so I'm going to stop now before I end up writing a freaking essay . . .
