people have been sharing their magis systems so here is mine, and remember that I would not only like suggestions I would love them also need a name for the system:

There are three aspects to the magic system, they are runic defensive2(preserver), runic offensive3(attuned), and runic augury1(augur). Each type can only cast its own runes, though certain spirits can grant the ability to use other runes.

List of runes

1 plant1

2 earth 2

3 fire1

4 water 2

5 air1

6 lightning 2

7 time 1

8 space 2

9 spirit 3

Runic defensive

Defensive is much slower than offensive but while in a runic defensive state, it is much harder to be attacked in any way (including but not limited to, psychic attacks from persons attuned To a kelpie or brute force attacks from that of a person attuned to an Oni or Daemon.) Though a preserver has little combat potential, if they are felled, then they will unleash a shock wave of the held ichor within them from when they charged themselves with ichor  (the mixture that lets one create and contain runes in themselves)to create a runic hold or holds (a set of runes that can be invoked at any time. They are created by casting a series of runes and then a linking spell (the linking spell is own of the first spells people discover in their dreams) to connect all of them together fuelled by ichor. The runic holds will appear as tattoos on their arms. When one creates a runic hold they most likely have leftover ichor within themselves. To make up for the fact that they have no built-in offensive capabilities many practitioners grow an affinity for plants and how to use them for help or for harm.

Runic offensive

Some people summon spirits from the incorporeal plane (which few have explored, as to enter one must sacrifice their own blood) through runic means using the spirit rune to ,

spirits such as dark spirits (Oni,  Daemons, wendigo, kelpies etc.), Venti, Hughes, ignae

Oni are creatures of great constitution and stronger than daemons, but much easier to control because of how little cunning they contain in contrast to daemons.

Daemons are much harder to host while keeping one's sanity (if one loses sanity then the spirit within the attuned will take control of them and wreak havoc on the surrounding area). If the attuned does maintain control over their own body and daemon then their ability to problem solve and will be much more intelligent while also gaining swaths of physical strength.

Wendigos are an ancient race of spirits that can tear through the Stratum (a man-made barrier that was created years ago by 7 very powerful attuned). Once they rip through it they lose their corporeal form becoming like smoke with the skull of a dear. When the Wendigo chooses a host they will follow them for multiple weeks until they have learned enough about them to tempt them into accepting the skull. Once and if they accept the skull,(anyone can accept the skull, this includes all practitioners and laymen) they will gain the ability to use all basic runes.  If they accept the skull then they receive the ability to use all runes, but their body will slowly decay because of the power surging through them.

Kitsune are mischievous spirits that have learned to use the fire rune(not many know why it is fire that the kitsune has chosen, but some speculate that it is because they are burning away their form and making a new one similar to that of the Phoenix) to shape-shift into many things including a fox with nine tails (when in combat this is the most common form for those attuned to a kitsune to take). While in the form of a fox, they have even better control over the rune of fire. Some attuned chose to use psychological attacks.

Kelpies are much more calm and collected than a Daemon or Oni. A kelpie will seem much calmer and gentler, but they are quite manipulative. They have little physical capabilities, instead, they have psychic abilities and can attack others from a long range.

Venti (plural of Ventus) are spirits that are highly adept at using air rune use, they can do almost anything, anywhere from throwing an opponent in the air to turning into wind itself or riding the wind. Their disposition is quite calm and are highly adaptable.

Hughes are very docile and are willing to help others at their own risk. They have less combat capabilities than say an Oni, but they are highly knowledgeable about healing magic (combination of water and fire that melds the effects of them to heal).

An igna is a spirit of fire that is quick on their feet as well as their mind. They are avid practitioners of fire runes (the difference between runes and magic is that magic is where one uses multiple runes to make a “sub-rune” which is not a new rune, but is a set of runes that meld their effects, this is similar in idea to runic holds, but holds still show the effects of each rune, if there is a runic hold that was plant and earth, then an effect could be sending out vines and shooting up a wall of stone, the intention of the caster must be apparent when they form a runic hold or cast a rune).

Qilin are spirits that can glimpse at the future (they can see years in to the future., but to do this it takes large amounts and f preparation and they must be in the incorporeal plane. When they are not in the same incorporeal plane they can only see mere seconds in to the future). They can also cast quite potent time runes. Qilin are said to show them selves to Those that have gone through many hardships. They are similar in power to wendigos, but they are not as ruthless and are much kinder in nature.

Yaksha are similar to dryads in that they are nature spirits, but a representation of the violent side of nature such as poisonous berries and dangerous plants. They are practitioners of plant and earth runes.

Phoenix are exceptional in the aspect that they can heal themselves from almost anything (except from an attack of another attuned to a phoenix). If they are felled, then instead of dying They will survive, but the phoenix will be expelled and they will become a lay person losing their ability to use fire runes.

Dryads are nature spirits that practice healing magic(they use a variation of healing magic that is water and plant instead of fire and Water. Healing with water and fire is more potent than water and plant) and plant runes.

Naiads are in the same boat as dryads, but they are not spirits of plants and instead control the water rune.

Runic augury is the way that those who can use augury see the future. Almost all augurs are very intelligent (they need to be to decipher the visions that they witness) and are good counsel because they can use the ability to decipher in business transactions, and augur to see the outcome of a deal or treaty. They don’t see combat as they are too “valuable” to put in direct combat but are generals and leaders in many military campaigns.
