can somebody explain cadmium and bendalloy to me from an allomancy perspective

could somebody explain how cadmium and bendalloy to me please because if I'm not mistaken then cadmium slows time in an area or "bubble" and bendalloy does the opposite. what are potential uses of this. i don't understand it. its not like allomancers are immune to their own effects. i cant understand potential applications for the metals it just seems inconvenient. please could you provide examples in the comments.

Hey, welcome to the Shard. Did you read Mistborn Era 2, The Alloy of Law? You should read era 2, it's explained there. If you want, below I give you a non-spoiler explanation.

Consider the bubble from two perspectives, inside and outside.

Cadmium slows down time, 5 minutes inside the bubble is like hours outside.

Bendalloy speeds up time, 5 minutes inside the bubble is like seconds outside.

Bubbles are small, cadmium bubble is the size of a room, while bendalloy is 5-15 feets across. Bubbles are created around Allomancers, placing them in the center of the bubble, if Allomancer leaves the bubble, the bubble stops existing. So cadmium/bendalloy mistings are allways affected by them.

You can use cadmium bubble if you are on a boring and long train travel and you just want to skip time to the end of the train's route. Waiting for a doctor - cadmium bubble. Boring day? Skip it with a cadmium bubble. Waiting for someone - cadmium bubble.

Bendalloy is the opposite. You want to do something fast, without anyone noticing? Burn bendalloy. You can use it to move quickly, as created bubble stays in the same place, once created move to the edge of the bubble, take it down and make a new one, which center is now where you are standing - this isn't very practical, but you can move quickly like that in a fight to confuse your opponents, quickly change positions, or avoid being hit by them. Bendalloy has much more applications than cadmium, especially during combat.

The time bubbles are powers that you'd have to be creative with to get any use out of.  In a fight, Bendalloy is better, as you can issolate your enemies and fight them one at a time, or throw up a bubble and appear to almost teleport.  Cadmium isn't as immediately useful, but there are cetainly uses for it if you're clever enough.
