What are the best songs to listen to at 2 AM?

Cavetown, "Hug All Ur Friends"

Cavetown, "Home"

Seafret, "Atlantis"

Baby Queen, "Dover Beach"

And many many more..

2 AM gives me "life contemplating" vibes, so I choose a lot of indie music

I also just like indie music

Or, if you're lookin for angst and anger

Everybody's Worried About Owen, "Gut Punch/Don't Meet Your Idols"

Or, just some generally good songs;

Owl City, "Kelly Time"

The Oh Hellos, "Hello My Old Heart"

Derivakat, "Under The Weather - Acoustic"

Lauryn Marie, "Happy Songs"

Kingdom Hearts, "Dearly Beloved"

Fire Emblem: Awakening: "And What if I Can't? What if I'm Not Worthy of Her Ideals?"

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, "Zora's Domain (Night)"

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, "Lon Lon Ranch"

Super Mario Galaxy, "Space Junk Galaxy"

Super Mario Galaxy 2, "Cosmic Cove Galaxy"

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, ""Chanson Triste"

Carnival of the Animals, "The Swan"

J.S. Bach, "Arioso from Cantata No. 156"

Henry Eccles "Largo from the Sonata in G minor"

Rachmaninoff "Symphony No. 2: Adagio"

Those are the ones that I thought were best for two in the morning, but that doesn't even come close to the amount of mellow, sad, calming songs I have in my musical pocket.

I'm very sentimental at 2 AM, so around then is the only time I'll ever be found crying while listening to music :P

  • Nachts wach, by Miksu / Macloud & makko
  • вечеринка, by Soczewica
  • Тоска, by Molchat Doma
  • Runaway, by AURORA
  • Contact, by Trocadero
  • Your Name, by DVRST
  • Boys will be Bugs, by Cavetown
  • Давай за..., by Lube
  • Always, by Erasure

@Adamkarma, TEETH is kinda edgy for 2 AM. "I can see it staring at me from the f#%&in treeline." Kinda creepy too :P.

Winter by Hideyuki Hashimoto. Instrumental and has really peaceful pretty vibes. reminds me a lot of the Raven Cycle @Szeth's Facepalm

Edit: I'm 90% certain this is the song i'm thinking of but maybe not. I'll check when I'm in a place to listen to it and find out

This song is so emotionally important to me.

I literally love and know almost every song people have said. The songs that have emotional value to me are the weirdest things for the weirdest reasons, but I usually listen to them at that hour when we should not be awake but are anyway.

Who I'd be, from shrek the musical.

Living on a Prayer, because reasons.

Mahler's 5th symphony.

All of Les Miserables, on my own, one day more, and a heart full of love especially.

Waves by Imagine Dragons

Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen

I probably have more but my brain doth not be working. (My music tastes are bizarre and sporadic, don't try to understand it.)

I absolutely agree on this.  Living on a Prayer is such a good song for 2 am.  Something about the delivery of those lines, and the word choice...

I'll go ahead and add Don't Stop Believing by Journey, because if I'm up at 2 in the morning, that would probably be what I was listening to.

Anything by Bill Wurtz probably. At that hour your thoughts make no sense. Neither do his lyrics.

Itoki Hana is probably a good fit too. Songs like Wish have a dream-like vibe to them. Listening to them in the dark makes you feel like you're floating on a cloud.

VA-11 HALL-A's soundtrack feels tailor-made for this.

City pop. Just travel to the 80s and pretend you're going out for a night in the city.

Really old songs with bad recording quality. Travel even further back in time, and get emotional over a period you didn't even live through.

Songs you love but haven't listened to in years. To also trigger real nostalgia.

I'm writing this at 2am of course.
