[Szeth's Facepalm]

Edit: this was originally my inktober, but it has most of my recent art and i don't really go back to my old art thread cause... well i don't have a reason. That's fine.

Original: I said I wasn't gonna make one of these, but i'm actually doing Inktober daily (which i didn't expect) and really enjoying it! Here are all the prompt lists i'm doing (so far i've only used the official prompts though):

Here's all the drawings so far:

Day one: Gargoyle. I did Blue from The Raven Cycle, as she is at the beginning of chapter one (it describes her as a "restless, sightless gargoyle" so i thought it was fitting).

Day two: scurry. I didn't really do anything for that day because i was working hard on a different art piece (one of Kal and Szeth fighting). So here's what ya get:

Day three: bat. I was gonna draw the bat from Anastasia cause he's funny, but then i remembered that bats can also be baseball bats, so here's Steve Harrington (from Stranger Things):

Day four: scallop. This one is my favorite so far! It's my favorite OC, Iyaden (don't tell the others) in a dress with a scalloped neckline. It's a bit out of character for her, but i'm cooking up a little bit if a traumatic backstory for her, so she gets a cute drawing.

I've already drawn tomorrow's prompt (Flame, for both official and cosmere inktober) but i'll wait till tomorrow to share lol.

Day five: Flame. this one's a combo of every prompt except the Raven one, cause both the cosmere and the official prompt is flame, and it's a character from The Magnus Archives.

Day six: i'm using both the official and cosmere prompt today, Bouquet and Miscreant. It's Wayne (i've been meaning to draw him, and miscreant could be a way to describe him lol) with flowers! Here he is:

It didn't turn out exactly Wayne-ish, but i still like it.

Here's the process (all the cool kids are doing it lol):

First a little sketchy with a Target Up & Up brand mechanical pencil (i always use that specific kind of pencil. The lead is just right.) to get everything in the right place. I do a circle and then lines for the head/chin, and i find using circles for the shoulders helps get the shape of them right:

Next i do firmer lines and do the hair n stuff at the top of the body:

Then i get the outline all the way done, and make the lines clear:

Sometimes i stop there, plus a bit of tidying it up, but i've been having a lot of fun inking in and coloring, so next i draw over it with a Micron 01 pen, wait for it to dry, and erase the pencil lines. Sometimes i do that after i color it in, like in day four's picture, and i don't have particularly strong feelings about either, both ways work for me.

Anyway i forgot to take a picture of just the plain ink lines, so here's it partially colored in:

I just use crayola pencils and press down really hard while i'm coloring. It always works out pretty well, i think, though there are sometimes weird lines (like on the hat).

And then it's done!

There's relatively less going on in this one than usual. I might do another process with a more complicated one.

Here's a low-ish quality (but still better than the first haha) re-do of day two using the Magnus Archives prompt that i did a couple days ago instead:

It's Michael Shelly :D (it's fanon that he has huge wonky hands, so his hand is sort of supposed to look like that, though i should have made it bigger cause it looks a little more like limp noodles than i'd hoped ;-;)

I also didn't really do anything for today either, but a few days ago i redrew the drawings i did back in March of the main characters of the Magnus Archives, and since they are together i think it counts for match. I think it's cool to see the seven month progress:

Anyway i'm probably gonna draw a lot tomorrow (though i may end up just working on my Halloween costume, idk) so maybe i'll do yesterday's and todays then. And tomorrow's hopefully.

Anyway, um, i kind of completly forgor how to draw. So.

I drew different eyes than usual, and it turned out pretty good for a side profile, i think.

For yesterday's Cosmere prompt, Silhouette, here's a doodle from my vent book which turned out kinda cool:

Every time i read "then he slipped out of time" (it's close to that i'm sure) i cry so hardddd D: he deserved so much better imo. But i'm rereading dream theives (cause i'm trying to make an animation storyboard of the part where gansy comes downstairs and ronan dreamt a night terror. Even though i can't animate. But i'll save the storyboard for when i can :D) and i love the part where Noah and blue are at Monmouth together, i always laugh so hard when they kiss lmao.

it's everyone who i thought was dead/going to die/died, including the covered up one who is ronan, cause i thought maybe he was gonna die ;-;

But the only casualty was Lilliana of course. I liked her and was sad, but, you know. Gotta be glad maggie let Matthew come back to life and didn't kill adam. (That would have been. Very very bad. Obviously.)

And here's one of my favorite scenes from greywaren (i would say spoilers but there's no context so it's probably ok.) Content warning for blood splatters and a gun (i pretty much never draw that stuff and despise that sort of violence, but this scene was cool and badass af. I CAN BEND MY MORALS SOMETIMES OK)

Our school art assignment was to draw someone using a renaissance sculpture as a reference, and i think mine turned out quite nice:

I used to be able to draw stuff like that in 1-2 hours with just a phone sized reference (but with colored pencils instead of shading lol) and i think i lost that skill :( this is better, but it took me 2 and a half art classes and i used a grid and a printed out reference of the same size. I gotta practice with faces more.

I made it cause i was mad at my little sister because she's always super scathing of anything i draw and show to her, and she drew Annabeth and totally copied my style, and i love annabeth with all my heart (we all do i'm sure) and was feeling petty so i drew one that was way better than Little Sis's.

(She had only insults for it when she looked upon it even though hers was way worse ;-;)

And here are some random doodles from my school notebook that i assume to be Achilles and Patroclus (i don't remember drawing them but they look like them and also are kinda good):
