would you rather
Mistborn or Feruchemist

If you had to choose between being a full mistborn or a full feruchemist, what would you choose? And Why?

I'd go Full Feruchemist. While lacking some of the cooler powers of Mistborn, it would be far more convenient overall in my opinion

I completely agree, although I really would rather be a mistborn, while it doesn't have quite the range of applications Feruchemy has, I reallyyy want to be a coinshot. And along with bendalloy and cadmium for time manipulation. And, I'm a ballroom dancer so I would absolutely LOVE to have pewter to enhance my grace while dancing. Considering all this I think I would go full mistborn.

Definitely full Fercuhemist, I find that the powers for that have a lot more utility. For instance, being able to store wakefulness and calories alone would be a huge benefit in my life. No more insomnia and I never need to worry about my weight again. Furthermore, connection allowing me to speak any language (hello job opportunities) and storing fortune (hello getting banned from casinos) are too good to pass up on.

Full Fercuhemist all the way for me. Storing speed is probably one of the strongest things you can do, if you store up one hour of speed and then compound then into one minute you can just be the Flash and win any fight. Other powers would be super useful for everyday life, for example storing mental speed and then at a latter time thinking twice as fast seems helpful when doing anything. I can be a walking dictionary, literally with copperminds. I can go days without eating food or sleeping. Storing health and having the insurance that you probably won't die to most things is nice. Finding the time to store all of these attributes would be annoying for sure, but the crazy things that become possible makes it totally worth.

Feruchemist here too. practical in life, would allow me to speed-read even more(not necessarily a good thing)

I just love feruchemy. Even if Mistborn can do some cool stuff, the number of different applications for feruchemy is, well, a lot. It would also let me do a lot of things I've always wanted to be able to do, like moving really fast or becoming so light that I can move with the wind.

Feruchemist. Being able to store wakefulness alone would be... rather beneficial to me. Having on top of that an external memory storage, and several abilities that will finally make me be not terrible at sport, is the cherry on the top.

Full feruchemist is definitely better IMO at least if we are not talking about full hemalergy knowledge being put next to it.

Damn, on one hand if I wanted the cool powers I'd go with being a Mistborn, but It'd be really expensive getting Bendalloy and such.

With Feruchemy you just need one piece of each and your good, no need to spend more.

But the storing thing would be kind of annoying but at least all of the metals would have some use, unlike Allomancy where half of the metals would be borderline useless in 'the real world', but the other half would be really fun.

But Feruchemy would be a lot more useful if your just trying to live life, so I'd choose to be a Feruchemist just for convivence and for quality of life improvements.

Plus I might be able to figure out Unsealed Metalminds and make myself rich by selling MAGIC.

I'm literally the only mistborn person here. XD Love some of the ideas for being a full feruchemist tho. I just love the idea of bendalloy and pewter along with being a coinshot. although some of the mistborn metals are absolutely useless *cough gold *cough *cough. It's just more appealing to me to not have to store them up first for a while first. I'd just need to find a metal dealer. Imagine if I found some atium.

Feruchemy is just better.

Honestly, I'd rather be a Mistborn. A-Pewter is just really good.

I would be a full feruchemist. There are many Mistborn powers that interact with each other or do nothing useful for the user. Without any other Mistborn, copper, bronze, nicrosil, chromium, and Aluminum are all useless without other Mistborn (Aluminum is just less useful in general compared to other metals). Feruchemist powers don't interact with each other, and you would be the strongest. If I were in a world where multiple people got to make this decision, I would 100% choose Mistborn. Two Mistborn are unstoppable; now all those powers are useless and become very useful (except poor Aluminum).

Probably Mistborn for me, though I'd be happy with either. If not for the Feruchemical effects of zinc, steel, and copper, I'd be much more decisively on the Mistborn side.

Feruchemy is indeed awesome, but there are some serious drawbacks (chiefly spending long periods of time miserably limited in exchange for relatively short bursts of variable benefits) and some of the mechanics at the margins aren't clear (like how much you can "dribble" an attribute into a metalmind to build up a useful reserve without being severely disadvantaged along the way). These make me think that it would be hard to get a lot of benefit from Feruchemy frequently for anything beyond marginal use, which is not the effect I'm after. In a lot of cases you'd end up spending more time with sub-normal capabilities than superpowered, and using your powers burns a lot of time invested (not to mention misery while doing so, for some attributes).

Mistborn, on the other hand, get cool powers that work on demand. Allomantic steel, iron, pewter, tin, brass, and zinc will help you through an awful lot of situations, and the only preparation you need is to put some metal in your pockets.

Also having to get a good metal dealer who  makes the alloys with the correct percentages. that's gonna be the most challenging part

Definitely true, though also an issue for Feruchemists (if not to quite the same degree). If I had either power, I'd spend a good deal of time studying metallurgy

If you could be a twinborn, which combination would you be? compounding doesn't count for this fyi, it's just too good.

Personally I'd want to be a pewter burner and be able to store speed, or maybe weight.

Probably coinshot with fortune so I can get filthy rich and then flee my capers in style.

Feruchemy for sure. It is easily the most versatile system so far with things like nicrosil and duralumin. Being a full Feruchemist opens the door to every other magic system in the Cosmere. It's also the only system that lets you alter your perception of time, which is probably the most overpowered ability you can get.

I think Feruchemist is the clear winner here (both for myself and also according to everyone else), though my personal favourite metal hasn't even been brought up once: electrum.

Feruchemical electrum allows you to store determination, which IMHO is one of the most valuable resources to be able to call up basically on demand when you need it. Have some uncomfortable tasks to do? Store a bit of determination while going on autopilot during your normal day, then whip out the stores to power through an hour or two of work without stopping. It's a pretty easy one to store too, because determination's rarely a continuous need. Push yourself at the key moment and then you can probably go back to normal once you're over the hump. Zinc (mental speed) is another good one for similar reasons — it's not so bad to store a little bit of for a good half of the day, if not more or longer, and that could be amazing for those moments when you need to make an intelligent split-second decision, or weigh up two difficult choices.

I think for Twinborn I'd probably say Allomantic pewter and Feruchemical electrum? Physical dexterity+strength is a massive QoL and self-assurance blessing, and then you have electrum to handle the mental side of things.

Ferechumist  I think the powers would be more practical and you'd be more able to use it in your everyday life.
