I suppose it all depends on if the welder assumed the anit was evil.  That is kind of the cheat code enabled in Nightblood.  Doesn't matter to a sword what evil is as long as somebody thinks it so.  Thus anti investiture could lay out in that ideology

It might work to feed him, but it might also destroy some of the investiture already in him. If Nightblood ate some void light and then some anti-void light, unless his consumption of investiture somehow alters its connections and intent, then the anti-Light would destroy the Light. Probably.

So just for clarification, once Nightblood consumes investiture, that investiture gets recycled? That's what I've always assumed. That it enters the cognitive/spiritual realm?

The investiture he consumes is not gone forever--it's not leaving the system, so to speak.

It implies the consumed investiture is not incorporated into Nightblood. So, I would guess that if a reaction were to be a ploblem, it would come if Nightblood were trying to consume and investiture and anti-investiture at the same time.

Nightblood corrupts the Invesiture he consumes, so I assume that the Invesiture has changed to the point that it no longer has the exact opposite tone to anti-Investiture and that it will just fuel him. The black smoke that flows from him definitely doesn't act like Breaths.

I don't think it does, he just states that the Investiture is not gone forever. It being incorporared would still mean that it is "inside the system", as in, it could theoretically be restored. Other WOBs imply that Nightblood keeps the Investiture it eats (apart from what's leaking, of course):

Don't forget that he started with a much higher than normal amount of investiture.

It's also possible that the "is [Nightblood] consuming [investiture]" comment isn't about incorporating what's consumed into his form, as BS (when not tired and distracted such as signings) is great at non-answers. This could simply mean that because he only consumes investiture from the person holding him and the "evil" he "destroys" - that one-person-at-a-time is a very slow way for him to "consume" investiture.

I think we agree on the relevant portion though - that, if he consumed a form of anti-investiture, it's nature would be changed; whether incorporated into his form or released as black smoke to return to the system.

I wouldn't think that Nightblood could just because of the fact that he absorbs investiture and we don't know about anything else it consumes. We would also need to know more about anti-investiture which will probably be in stormlight book 5.

Sure, but 1000 Breaths while a lot isn't nearly enough to make him "one of the most highly Invested individuals that we have seen" - every Returned is Fifth Heightening, equivalent of 2000 Breaths. (The God King is 50,000+)!.

And that WoB is post RoW so we'd seen plenty of Fused, and Zahel/Vasher basically says in RoW that Fused are more powerful Cognitive Shadows than Returned (since they don't stay dead when killed again). Which implies that Heralds are also in that stronger category of Cognitive Shadow.

1000 Breaths is a huge amount of wealth in Hallandren - most rich people stop at about 50 (First Heightening) - but it's nowhere near as special as Nightblood is.

That's true, but I believe he is one of the most highly Invested objects we've seen.
