Chaos
Hi all, For those of you at Mini-Con, and other events: please do not put voice recorders out on signing lines. Dragonsteel has asked us to no longer do this due to liability issues. So we can't do this any longer. This was a fairly common practice and way that we got Words of Brandon. To be honest, this is not terribly surprising to me. There are lots of rules regarding consent in recordings, so it's probably about time. My impression is that you could--if you wanted--record your own personal questions if you wish, assuming you clearly ask. But please do not put recorders on the signing table any longer.
Oversleep
End of an era. What would be the legal status of someone standing by and writing stuff down, I wonder? Edited November 23, 2021 by Oversleep
Chaos
I feel like you'd need to specifically ask both parties. I probably wouldn't. We would just need to rely on self-reported WoBs.
Knight of Iron
It's okay, I still have my copperminds.
Honorless
Oh well, though with the nature of most of this fandom, I don't think this would be a big issue regarding reliability of WoBs
Wyndlerunner
I'm not too concerned about what this development means for WoBs. With Brandon doing livestream q&a's fairly often these days, I doubt the quality or quantity of WoBs will go down in the slightest.
