  2. Would it work to put a Slang or Curses section at the end of all of the world pages? I'm thinking of putting a list of slang terms specific to that world. For example, the bottom of the Roshar page could look like this: Curses Storms Storming Etc.
  3. Hey everyone! Here’s my latest Cosmere piece! Contains spoilers for SA 1-4. Stick around after the credits below to get the backstory on this song. He seemed... beyond me, somehow. As his backstory unfolded, I realized how little we had in common at that time in my life; I settled into a good place where I really enjoyed watching him grow and change, accepting that I could invest myself in a character's story without having to fully understand his experiences. In the summer of 2019, my wife became pregnant for the first time in our marriage. We had been married 7 years, 6 of which had been spent trying to grow our family. Weeks later, that child died in the womb from unknown causes. I suddenly understood a little of Kaladin's pain; I was unable to protect my unborn child. We struggled for a year, wrestling with ourselves and God, days blurring into weeks, then months, as we sank into depression. We were surrounded by people who loved, held and heard us, but it took a long time to even begin to move forward from the silence, the grief and the loss. As we slowly crept out into the light again, we chose to trust that continuing the journey as unashamedly broken people was better than pulling the covers over our heads for the rest of our lives. We went to counseling, examined our faith on deeper levels, and spent lots of time with friends and family, sharing what had happened to us and soaking up the encouragement and love of others. In the fall of 2020, months before the birth of our daughter Jane, the chorus of Windrunner began to take shape. I wrote this song to help me move forward in my journey; I hope it helps others as much as it helped me.
  4. http://dixit.whysper.info GAME OVERVIEW Card game of wondrous illustrations for 4 to 6 players. The active player will give a clue describing one of their cards while the other players choose a card from their own hand to best illustrate the clue. The cards are shuffled together and then the players try to find the active player's card among everyone's cards. GAME PLAY Active Player One player is the active player for the current turn. They choose 1 of their 6 cards (telling the host) and make up a clue for it. Then without showing their card, they say their clue to the other players. The clue can take a variety of forms. It can be made up of one or more words. It can even be a sound (written form for forum play) or group of sounds that represent the clue. The clue can be invented on the spot, or it can take the form of already existing works (a part of a poem or song, a movie title, a proverb, a book quote, etc.). Other Players The other players choose from among their own 6 cards the one which seems to best illustrate the clue given by the active player (telling the host). They do not let the other players know what they've chosen. Revealing the Cards After all players have chosen a card, they are shuffled together with the active player's card and then revealed to all the players with a number assigned to each. Finding the Active Player's Card The goal of the players is to find the active player's card from among those revealed. Each player except the storyteller secretly votes for the card (telling the host) they think belongs to the active player. Under no circumstances can a player vote for their own card. Revealing the Votes Once everyone has voted, the votes for each card are revealed. The active player then reveals which card was theirs. Scoring 1. If all players find the active player's card: Active player: 0 points Other players: 2 points 2. If no players find the active player's card: Active player: 0 points Other players: 2 points 3. If at least one player, but not all players, have found the active player's card: Active player: 3 points Players who have found the card: 3 points Each player, other than the active player, wins 1 bonus point for each vote placed on their card. End of Turn The cards that have been used are discarded. Each player draws a new card from the draw pile (received from host) to refill their hand up to 6 cards. The new active player is the one next in sequence after the last active player. A new turn then starts. END OF THE GAME The game ends when one of the players has reached 30 points or when the last card of the draw pile is drawn. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins. http://dixit.whysper.info
  5. Hello! Here is the prologue for the story I've been writing. I'm going to try to get a new chapter out every week or so, but don't hold me to it, I'm an extremely slow writer. I hope it's not too bad, and feel free to point out any typos. That is all, enjoy:
  6. I've been thinking a lot lately about what one might get at the Fifth Ideal. I am drawn to an excerpt from the following epigraph from Words of Radiance: "...for though the bond between man and spren was at times inexplicable, the ability for bonded spren to manifest in our world rather than their own grew stronger through the course of the oaths given." Words of Radiance, chapter 35, page 9. So the ability for spren to manifest in the Physical Realm grows stronger the more oaths that are given. I suspect this is why after the Third Ideal, spren can become Shardblades/spears/forks. Another epigraph mentions achieving the Fourth Ideal in association with "earning my armor," and there is obviously some mystery still around that. But what of the Fifth Ideal? If the Third is some sort of weapon, and assuming the Fourth is some armor, then what could the Fifth be? I welcome theories. The only theory I have is that the Fifth Ideal could be a Dawnshard (...whatever that is). It would make sense, then, with how Surges and Dawnshards are related with the destruction of... you know. Just an idea, if you have evidence to the contrary, please share. Also if I'm blatantly on the wrong track with any of this here, also please share.
  7. ...because he's not ready to accept that there are some people he can't save. He keeps trying to save everyone, it's deep down in his personality that he has failed every time he couldn't save someone, as if he killed them himself. Maybe he kills himself a little inside every time he loses someone. (and I just had the thought that Gavinor and Oroden (Kaladin's new little brother) are gonna be best buds. Just sayin.)
  8. Now, I have no experience in tabletop games or D&D-esk stuff, heck, I've no idea what you even call it. However, the concept has always interested me, and I wanted to ask if it was fun. Probably akin to asking a someone, "what is a maths?" I'm sure, but if you could describe what it's like, that'd be awesome.
