  1. hey guys, we have all noticed that how UNITE THEM is a running theme with Dalinar throughout the books so far, we have Dalinar interpret this in different ways : unite all of Alethkar, atleast all the highprinces, not just in name but actually then he expanded it to unite all of humanity, all nations in one alliance and then, he united all three realms together what do you think could be his next interpretations of UNITE THEM? one that comes to mind is unite humans and singers against Odium. i think it may be the running theme for him in SA4 any ideas?

  3. I've seen a lot of people posit that when Dalinar says that he is Unity, he is taking a step towards taking up the Shard of Honor and renaming it Unity. I have a alternate theory What if Dalinar represents the unity of all three shards in the Rosharin system? Men are often referred to as "children of Honor", and he is bonded to the Stormfather, which contains the remnants of Honor's power. Dalinar spent his life being groomed by Odium to be his champion, and was called "Son of Odium" by the Nightwatcher. Cultivation takes some of Dalinar's memories and a piece of him. Ergo, I think Unity is more like Harmony, and while Dalinar is not a Shard, he was representing the union of all three.
  4. **Warning: This post contains MASSIVE spoilers for Oathbringer. Proceed either with caution, or not at all.** Hi guys! This is my first post here, and I want to talk about Dalinar. Near the end of Oathbringer, Dalinar is able to recreate Honor’s perpendicularity by joining the 3 Realms. I was wondering what the extent of these powers are. Could Dalinar travel to the Spiritual Realm? What would happen if he did? Does this require Stormlight? At the end of Oathbringer, Kaladin said that Dalinar was able to renew gemstones for his trip, which indicates that Dalinar is able to combine the Realms at any time. Can Dalinar do this because he is a Bondsmith, or is it something else entirely? We know that Bondsmiths are somewhat special among Radiants, as there can only be three, and the order was founded by Ishar, who (I think) Ash said was the only Herald that didn’t lose his mind. Dalinar seemed able to do something similar when he operated the Oathgate, despite having no Shardblade. This power is surely the same as the one Dalinar used later on to unite the Realms, but this quote makes it sound less like a Bondsmith power, as opening the Oathgate seemed to hurt the Stormfather, or at least bother him deeply. This probably wouldn’t happen had this been typical Bondsmith behavior. This raises a question: if it’s not a Bondsmith ability, then where did this power come from?
  5. So in Oathbringer, Dalinar says "I am Unity" and Odium responds with "We killed you" Naturally this leads people to believe that Unity might have been a shard or something. I have a different theory. In other post on the topic of Unity, I have expressed my belief that if Unity will ever exist it will be as a multi shard like Harmony. Recently I came up with the idea: What if Unity ALREADY existed as a Multi Shard before Harmony. Is it possible that at some point, probably right after the Shattering, several shards came together to form a multi shard called Unity? If this was true, what Odium said implies that him, and probably the other shards (He says "we" not "I") teamed up to kill Unity, and return it to its original Shards of Adonalsium state. This would also be what allows Odium to know that to become the most powerful being in the universe he can't take up other Shards otherwise he will take up there intent. Maybe the shard Odium was in fact part of Unity, and Rayse was not in fact one of the original sixteen people to shatter Adonalsium, but somebody who came latter. Please let me know you thoughts on this.
  6. When Dalinar created Honor’s perpendicularity at the battle for Thaylen city, he brought together all 3 realms. Cognitive, physical, and spiritual. Adolin walked through that perpendicularity with his Shardblade aka Maya. Maya is a spren who was killed by her Radiant when the Oath was broken. I’m guessing a spren death is just spiritual because she manifests physically and in the Cognitive realm too, but still considered dead. But later we see her reaching out to Adolin with small impressions and feelings. My guess is that when Maya passed through Honor’s perpendicularity with Adolin, a part (or all) of her was resurrected from the spiritual realm and reconnected to her and she can now think and interact again with the world. And the explanation for her limited engagement with Adolin during his fighting being that she, like other spren newcomers to the world, takes time to regain her self and mind Any thoughts?
  7. Could Unity be the merged Honor and Cultivation? That is the overlap of growth and keeping things bonded. A supergod like Harmony that is beeing made by Cultivation to avenge Honor. If that would be the case mabye he would be the only being capable of undoing splintering or shattering.
  8. I’m new to the forum, but I was curious if there is WoB on any connection between Dalinar as Unity and Shu-Keseg (by extension Shu-Korath and Shu-Dereth as well). Elantris mentions how Shu-Keseg preached unity, and the Korathi and Derethi preached unity in love and obedience, separately. Dalinar claims to be Unity after opening Honor’s Perpendicularlarity in Thaylen City, but most interesting is Odium’s response: Does he refer to Adonalsium, Honor, or Devotion and Dominion? Some theories state that Dalinar is becoming Honor but his intent is Unity, still related to bonds. Others state Dalinar will become Adonalsium and unite the Shards. I personally like the idea that Dalinar swore three oaths, the 3rd, 4th, and 5th: And: I added bolding where I believe the paths are. “I am Unity” sounds like the fifth ideal, and when I originally read it, I thought both of the previous two sounded like oaths and couldn’t decide which was. Dalinar may also be Unity as a shard in the future, or take up multiple shards, or an innumerable amount of other possiblities, but I can’t shake the feeling the calls to ‘Unite them’ and Unity are related to Sel, and likely Dominion and Devotion in some way. Sorry about the long winded post, but hope this is good discussion fodder. Once again, if there is WoB on this that would be good to know.
  9. At the Battle of Thaylenah, when Dalinar accesses Honor's perpendicularity, Gloryspren surged all around him, letting him ascend. So we know for ascension, even temporary ascension, it requires large amounts of investiture, which came partially from having access to Honor's investiture in the spiritual realm through the Stormfather and perpendicularity. But that does not explain why Gloryspren surrounded him and made a pillar of light. The Gloryspren appeared before when he used his powers to repair Thaylenah: The gloryspren saved him from falling to Odium: The Gloryspren are the splinters of Honor. In the above quote the gloryspren wasn't attracted to glory because Dalinar had no glory, but it was still attracted to Dalinar because he had access Honor's perpendicularity and Honor's shadow, the Stormfather. Honor's power is the ability to create bonds, so its only natural that the splinters of Honor would want to come back together when a significant portion, Honor's perpendicularity and shadow, are already connected to each other. Edit: I mean that the Gloryspren are the splinters of Honor that formed Honor before Odium shattered him. So Odium shattered Honor, and then those splinters became gloryspren.
  10. Might we see Dalinar ascend to form the shard Unity? Thoughts?
  11. 8I'm mostly a lurker in the 17th shard but I post now and then when I feel I may have something to input I post. I'm intelligent but always had a learning disability and grammar was always my weakest point in school so bear with me as I try to put my thoughts down. Alot of this uses mistborn and wobs to draw conclusions. Ill explain myself without spoilers and add them at the end. "I am Unity" "He wasn't suppose to Ascend". And all the other quotes pointing to Dalinar Ascending to a shard or shard level powers. I think he's something new, a combination of powers. He was groomed to be odiums champion, spent many years addicted to the thrill. It wasn't until he went to the nightwatcher and Cultivation intervened to weed out the bad memories so he could change. Without alot of the horrendous memories he had he was able to forgive himself and start to make a change for the better. This new Dalinar was able to become a man honorable enough to become a bondsmith able to bond the stormfather who merged with honors cognitive shadow. Dalinar has strong ties to all 3 shards. Now this can go a few ways. He has access to some power of all 3 shards he was connected to the spirtual realm where most investiture exist and could of grab some of all 3 shards power even if odium and Cultivation aren't splintered. Not enough to become a shard but enough power to Ascend. Another way it could go. He picked up part of honor and Cultivation power again not enough to become a shard but to ascend. Going with the idea cultivation has worked with honor in the past so she would have no problem cultivating a weapon to destroy odium. Then of course it could just be honors power and his shadow is what keeps saying unite them and deeper bond with the storm father gave him access to honors CS who retains part of honors power. And is using those powers to bring the relms together because this is what honor did in the past before he splintered. More on this in spoilers. Now the third idea fits best to the statement "But we killed you". But given the bulk of the power Dalinar uses to Ascend is from honor because he's shattered it could be an assumption on Odiums part that it is Honor. Mostly mistborn spoilers below. To go even farther on wild theroy If your still with me thanks for sticking through to the end. Please let me know what you think. Try not to be to hard on me but I'm open to any constructive criticism.
