  1. Is there a reason behind why Adonalsium was split into 16 Shards? (other than there being 16 people - technically 17, but Hoid doesn't count since he didn't take a Shard). Also, does every Shard have a specific number? e.g. Odium = 9, Honor = 10, Preservation = 16
  2. think I know who knows, or rather, knew, where the remains of the weapon is: Preservation! in secret history, Preservation says "I needed a sign. Something he couldn't change. A sign of the weapon I'd buried. The boiling point of water, I think. Maybe it's freezing point? But what if the units change over the years? I needed something that would be remembered always. Something they'll immediately recognize. Sixteen." a sign of the weapon, and sixteen, being one of those signs, and how many Shards it split Adonalsium into, is too much of a coincidence. Also, Ruin and Preservation created Scadrial, so they could design aspects of it in special ways. If he had buried it at the core of the planet, no one would be able to get to it, not on the Physical Realm, not without Either Ruin or Preservation noticing, and they wouldn't be able to get to it in the Cognitive Realm, as the investiture in metal makes it so that Shards cannot touch or influence it and probably are unable to get past it, so Shards would not be able to get to the core of the planet, because the inner and outer cores would be made out of metal. In addition, Ruin and Preservation are so heavily invested in the planet that they can't leave, so that would make them Guards that can't leave their posts. The only thing I can't figure out is what the boiling/freezing point of water has to do with the weapon of opposition of Adonalsium. What do you guys think?
  3. WARNING: Extreme spoilers for Alcatraz Versus the Shattered Lens. This is just baseless speculation, since Alcatraz is not a Cosmere story, but I thought I'd post it anyway. Someone threw a rock and broke my family's window a few days ago, and I got to thinking. a shard (non-cosmere) is a piece of shattered glass. Adonalsium shattered, right? Well, I had just finished Alcatraz four, and I thought that maybe Alcatraz caused the shattering. He somehow broke the Smedry Talents at the end there. What if it was Adonalsium who bestowed the talents through glass (or possibly WAS glass), similarly to how Preservation and Ruin gave Feruchemy, Hemalurgy, and Allomancy? What if Alcatraz accidentally shattered the possibly glass Adonalsium into shards and therefore broke the talents and started the cosmere? Let the feedback begin.
  4. I have another theory that is most likely incorrect, since I havent read every book that takes place in the cosmos or anything. But maybe at least a portion of the reason Adonalsium (am i spelling that right?) Shattered was because of how out of unity it was. It seems to me that each of Adonalsium's Shards (well, a bunch of them) fight with each other quite a bit, and each have their own personalities. Maybe Adonalsium was being tormented by itself/himself/herself and then that somehow contributed to the Shattering? Of course, I'm probably totally wrong since I havent read everything about the cosmos... but I'd like to know that I'm wrong, not just guess.
